**Thank you to the author, Aramis Jordan, for gifting me the ARC of this book**

I thought Arian and Fernando were hot together, but after reading this book, Kristian and Tarlis lit up the pages.

This is the second book in a paranormal/fantasy mm romance with some BDSM. And I thoroughly enjoyed every word I read. It's based in the 1700's. Merman are known to seduce sailors with their song and play with them for days. Giving them pleasure after pleasure. It can be read alone, but I highly recommend the first book, Escaping the Merman, to fully enjoy the experience. We vaguely meet Kristian and Tarlis in the first book as well. Tarlis is part of Arian's group of Merman friends. And Kristian is the Captain of Fernando's ship. We get a more detailed story of how the Merman lure in the sailors in the first book, but you get the idea in the beginning of this book. We go back to when the Merman sang there lustful song. And this time we get Kristian and Tarlis's story. I love a good hate to love story and this one doesn't disappoint. Kristian hates and loves what Tarlis did to him while he was captured. So much so, he seeks him out for revenge. But is it really revenge when both he and Tarlis want each other so badly they despise each other.

I won't say anymore, but just know that this story contains lost of hot, panty melting sex. I also felt that the plot and story itself was enjoyable as well. I didn't want to put it down. Dare I say I like it better than the first book.

This story is set in 1725 in the Caribbean when ships had to be aware and afraid of Pirates as well as Mermen. Kristian about 27yo is captain of The Haste and on this voyage is plagued with a terrible navigator who first puts them right in the midst of pirates and then he plans their escape to where mermen are known to lure ships in…for what? Unfortunately, Kristian and three others are enticed to the island where there are indeed four very intriguing young mermen. Each no doubt will have a story but ours is about Kristian and Tarlis who is about 20yo. The legend of how mermen came to be is fascinating, even more so when you realize that their lust has no bounds but without genitalia, no way to fulfill it. What starts out as a way to prevent boredom and to work off some of their fiery feelings will become much more for Kristian and Tarlis. Revenge is sweet but only when you are in control.
Is there such a thing as too much of a good thing? This story may border on that premise. Lots of passion and explicit scenes with some dubious consent. All the men who are lured to the mermen have only been attracted to women in their human world. This is a whole new thing for Kristian in particular but what if he likes it?!
This was a well-written, fast-paced very steamy M/M romance with an HEA for our couple. The story was good so it really didn’t need quite so much steam to get my attention. Not that I didn’t enjoy it. I did. It was just a LOT. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews. If you like lots of steam with a story embedded in it, read this book.

Wow! I went into this with no expectations just wanting to read it for the simple fact that it’s about merman. I was completely shocked in the best way.
Not only is the spice SPICING 🥵 but the story itself was a beautiful tale of finding love in an unexpected place and allowing yourself the strength to keep it.
I will say, I’m not usually a fan of enemies to lovers because it stresses me out. And while the angst was pretty heavy in the first part of the book, it was completely worth it when Kristian and Tarlis surrendered to their feelings for each other. I didn’t want it to end. And I know this is gonna leave me with a huge book hangover.
I will definitely be reading it again in the future.
If you’re unsure or undecided about giving this book a chance, I beg you to take that leap and fall in love with the characters like I did!

    Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯 series has an original story concept and so I was very excited to read it.

While definitely a somewhat enemies to lovers {mostly one sided}, the book did not, follow through with the promises of ‘𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸' or '𝗯𝗱𝘀𝗺'. Mostly it contained heavy elements of consensual non-consent.

The characters were, initially all quite interesting but lacked depth required to hold my regard and attention. The story as well cute … and that’s not a description I wanted to use for a ‘𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘬, 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦, 𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘩 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘺, 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘥, 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘦𝘴-𝘵𝘰-𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴' tale.

𝘏𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯 does contain lots {& lots} ѕՇﻉค๓ฯ scenes …. so, crack ‘im open and read on.

The second book of the series was just as good as the first. I love we got to hear the story of the beginning of Kristina's POV from the others from the ship. Liked hearing familiar names. Theirs was truly an enemies to lovers tail ( pun intended) that became a love story. It grew slowly and simmered... And the sex was HOT! The whole journey was great to read. Kristian and Tarlis truly became soul mates once Kristian finally submitted heart and soul. A great couple with a wonderful HEA.

It was exactly the kind of naughty and intense I needed. Mermen just are too tempting, and there’s nothing I want more than book three.

Enemies to lovers is my absolute favourite trope and this book went above and beyond my expectations! You could actually feel the hate between Kristian and Tarlis and that's something I've never experienced while reading.

The book gives you a quick recap of the first book but from Kristian and Tarlis POV and you learn from the start that these are two very dominant males. Which makes for an extremely spicy read.

The only problem I had with this book was the first few chapters felt rushed. However, the following chapters more than make up for it.

It's an exciting read and I'm even more intrigued about these mermen and the men they lured in with their song.
