Mommy GIVES the BEST Advice!
This story is a heartfelt journey about a young giraffe named Moyo who wants to explore and participate in all it encounters. With the wonderful advice from Mother, Moyo learns how to overcome obstacles in his path. I was particularly moved by Moyo missing Granny and wanting to give her a big kiss. Mommy gives the very best gift of IMAGINATION for Moyo to try. The illustrations in this book are outstanding and offer much detail for children to see. I highly recommend this book to all young children.

Moyo (giraffe) likes to explore the jungle with her mother.
The are the tallest of animals.
Moyo spied some leaves she wanted to eat but couldn’t quite reach them.
The mother told her to figure out how to reach the branches.

What do you think Moyo found on 1 of the branches?
And how did she solve the problem?

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) Self-Esteem storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (Self-Esteem), movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

"I Can't Reach It" is a wonderful book for young children. Moyo, a baby giraffe, faces many obstacles. For example, she cannot reach the leaves on a tall tree. She would like to munch on the leaves. What does Mama tell her? Moyo's Mom encourages her to be creative to help solve the problem. She figures out a clever way to reach the leaves on the tree. Then the baby wants to help put a baby bird back in its nest. Mama suggests Moyo might find someone who is able to help. In one instance, the little giraffe is encouraged to use her imagination, when she wants to kiss her granny.
The illustations are big and colorful. They will surely keep the little ones captivated.
At the end of the book, there are interesting facts about giraffes.
This is a fine book to help buld self-esteem. I recommend it.

Despite being the tallest animal in the world, Moyo has trouble reaching things. That’s because she’s still a little giraffe and can’t use a giraffe’s natural height to her advantage yet. When she pines for something, she thinks she can’t reach, her mother teaches her how to use her mind to get over her body’s limitations. In the process, she learns how to be creative, how to ask for help, how to be confident, how to keep trying and practicing, and how to use her imagination. The final thing Moyo would like to reach is the stars. Her mother tells her she can do so with all the skills she has learned during the day, but I suspect the mother is thinking in the figurative sense, while Moyo wants to literally grabs the stars. But that’s a lesson for another day. Maybe the next book.

When you’re finished reading the story, there are some fun facts about giraffes in the back of the book. You will also enjoy the illustrations, which use light and shadow, as well as depth of field variations to give a 3-dimensional feel to the settings. One fact I learned just from looking at the illustrations, is that rhinos don’t eat giraffes, and it’s not because they can’t reach them.

I really enjoyed this simple, but valuable lesson book for children. While Moyo, the young giraffe, has wants and wishes, her mother gives her encouragement to obtain her goals on her own. Her mother doesn't do it for her but gives her words of wisdom.

The story has some fun facts about the book and giraffes at the end. It is beautifully illustrated and a great educational book to read together with a child.

Moyo the giraffe is having a challenging day. First, she is not able to reach the leaves she would like to eat. Then, she is not tall enough to help a little fallen bird get back into its nest. Later, her friends are too far away to play, her neck is too short to drink water from the watering hole, and she misses her granny who lives on the other side of the savannah. For every complaint that Moyo shares, her mommy offers a constructive solution. And each time she tries her mother’s suggestions, Moyo increases her level of independence and her confidence in herself. Everything Moyo learns prepares her for a bright future filled with possibility.

Readers will be immediately drawn to the noteworthy design and presentation of this book. The illustrations are filled with depth and color, incorporating a blurred background and a foreground in sharp focus. Bright colors and friendly expressions connect readers to the myriad savannah dwellers who reside with Moyo and her mother. Additionally, textures—especially those of leaves—appear as though they can be felt on the page despite its two-dimensional surface. There are strong visual reminders of the Lion King movie, providing an additional layer of interest for some readers.

The story is delightfully crafted, using a formula that will keep young readers involved whether they are reading the book in a group or with a caregiver. Typeset in varying colors and shapes, the text becomes another character in the story. Pre-readers will be able to locate Moyo’s name and the new skills she learns because of their specific repeated colors and placement even if they do not yet recognize the words themselves.

At the end of the book, the author has included a list of facts about the giraffe along with resources for further exploration via her website. Young children and their caregivers will delight in the beauty of this picture book and the important lessons Moyo learns throughout the story.

We adored this book: from the heart-warming story through to the wonderful illustrations. 'I can't' is such a common refrain with children and this book is just the perfect tool to demonstrate that they can. Whatever they want to do or achieve is possible. I love the fact the book promotes the idea of you can do anything without being preachy. Books like this are so important to help shape young minds in a positive way AND to encourage the joy of reading. The illustrations too deserve special mention as they are truly wonderful - they captivated my youngest,
