Identity Crisis Kindle Edition

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 ratings

Luke Flynn discovers suddenly, alongside the rest of his classroom, that one of the other, young students in the class filled with five and six-year-olds had gone missing. Two weeks later, the girl returns, yet she's different, her personality having mysteriously flipped, though she has no recollection of how she'd previously acted. Luke, his classmates, the teachers and the parents are put under a lot of strain as they try to prevent the other children from going missing and having the same fate, though as a pattern unfolds, it's proved to be futile.

I love this book! It was fast paced and intense. Every time you felt a sense of security the author would throw in a brilliant twist, leaving you saying more than once "what is happening?" Definitely a must read!

    **light spoilers**

This is an interesting story idea, and the main character Luke Flynn is definitely different from other main characters I’ve read, mostly because he’s a young child (between 5 and 6 years old). Students from Luke’s class go missing every 2 weeks, only to return different than how they were before. One is more hopeful, one more rebellious, one dumber, and so on. When the taken kids return, they are treated badly by their peers, who are just children afraid of what is happening around them.

Luke spends a lot of pages afraid that he will be the next one taken, and that fear feels very real. Every time he went to school or back home, I was on edge because I was worried about this little boy! Eventually, his fears are validated when he is taken. He is subjected to fitness tests and IQ tests for the entire 2 weeks he’s gone. But when he is returned, there is no noticeable difference in his behavior. Even the other kids seems to notice he’s the same, and don’t immediately stay away from him.

Soon, he starts to have what he calls “glitches” and they make him act out. His behavior causes his friends and other classmates to ignore him, and he joins the group of other taken children. Usually his glitches are flashes to his time spent taken, but the last one in the story shows him the school in ruin. Luke attempts to help get people out of the school before it collapses, but no one will listen to him and he is the only one to escape.

My only compliant is I wish the book was longer. I feel like I still have so many questions. I hope there is a sequel, because I would really like to see more of Luke and the aftermath of the collapse. But overall, this is a great book that I would recommend if you are looking to read something a bit different than your average story!

This is a great book. The author does great at keeping you interested and curious. I will say the end is pretty cool the gold blood that was infused. Plus with the way it ended it seems there may be a second in the future. I hope so because I want to read it and see if they figure it all all out. Great book. I would highly recommend.🙂
