If Kisses Were Snowflakes (Christmas Wishes Book 4) Kindle Edition
When Angel Matthews books a vacation on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in Northumbria at Christmas, she plans to follow in the footsteps of St. Cuthbert and spend some time alone, to recover from the trauma of the past year, and to plan her future.
She doesn’t plan on being stranded by the tide, and having to hide in one of the refuge boxes for five hours in the wintry weather.
She doesn’t expect to be rescued by a Ragnar-Lothbrok lookalike who seems to think she’s his shield maiden.
And she certainly doesn’t anticipate the way he not only thaws her frozen heart, but sends her thermostat soaring.
A relationship with the wounded but wonderful Halvar Carlson is definitely going to put her on Santa’s naughty list. But how can she possibly say no to such a sexy Viking?

From the Inside Flap
So, there wasn't a Mrs. Carlson on the scene. Divorced or died? She watched him place the clothes on the sofa and then turn to her hesitantly. "You're welcome to get changed in the bathroom," he said, "but I thought you'd rather dry off in front of the fire."
"Okay."
He had a thermometer in his hand. "Here." He held it up. "As I said, if it's lower than thirty-five degrees, you've got hypothermia and I'm taking you to the hospital."
"Rectal is more accurate," she said absently. She was sure she'd read that somewhere.
He raised his eyebrows. "Let's start with the mouth. I don't know you well enough yet to try anything else."
She blinked and would have blushed if she wasn't frozen. Taking the thermometer, she placed it in her mouth. They watched each other while they waited for it to beep. His lips curved up a little at the corners, and she dropped her gaze to her feet. She could barely feel them.
Please, Santa, don't let me have hypothermia. I want to stay here.
It beeped, and Hal took it out of her mouth. "Thirty-five-point-one," he said wryly. "Wow, you escaped that by a whisker. All right, I'll go in the kitchen and make you some soup. Is tomato okay?"
"That would be lovely," she said, still shivering.
He met her gaze for a moment, his blue eyes bright in the firelight. A warm tingle ran down her back, although that could just have been her spine defrosting. Then he gave a brief nod. "Shout when you're done," he said, and left the room, closing the door behind him.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2017A stand alone read with a GREAT HAPPY ENDING. I LOVED this story. Fist, it takes place on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, England. To really enjoy and understand this wonderful, magical, holy place, google it and study the pictures, the land and the surroundings. It makes the story so much easier to picture in your mind. I swear while I was reading it I had the most peaceful feeling of calm. I was surprised.
The heroine is 35, coming through one of the worst years of her life. She has been suffering from depression and after much therapy and self-exploration, she is ready to get her life back. She has decided that she wants to spend Christmas on the Holy Island, she needs time to be alone, reflect on the past and prepare for the future. Now, this Holy Island is completely cut off from the mainland at certain tides. It is extremely dangerous to try and cross when the tides are going in or out. Thinking she can make it, she decides to push on as she is so close to her destination. It is extremely cold an she just wants a warm bed. However, a nice warm bed is not to be had - at least any time soon.
The hero of the story is working late, a jerk for a boss has caused him to miss the tide and he won't be able to cross until a little after midnight. As he is driving across the bridge he spots something off to his right. Now to tell any more of this story would give too much away. You don't want to know any more until you start the story for yourself. I thoroughly enjoyed every word of this story. There is a bit to learn about depression from the person experiencing it and the family dealing with it in a loved one. It was quite interesting and gave me another point of view of this serious condition. There is something to learn about families going through divorce as well. Now, don't be misled, this is a great love story but there is always more than just two people effected and involved with a serious illness, divorce, etc. So, they are all apart of the story set in this glorious setting that ,I for one, had absolutely no idea even existed. It is certainly a place I would like to visit for myself. An island of healing, even that can be another story for another time. Very entertaining and thought provoking. I loved it. Oh, and of course the Viking Warrior for a hero was totally delicious!! as expected. The heroine was a survivor and she makes for a great character. She takes no bull off of anyone and you will like her as well. Good read.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor am I kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2017The setting for this story is a complete change for Ms. Woods since it takes place in Scotland. And not just in any place in Scotland but the magical island of Holy Island of Lindisfarne.
Angel has planned a vacation over the Christmas holidays to figure out her path for the future after a difficult year and past. She is determined to live on her own and live life to the fullest she can. One of the first challenges for her is crossing the causeway which requires paying attention to the tides. Angel decides to risk the tides and finds herself taking advantage of the refuge box near the bridge for over 5 hours in the freezing rain. Yes, she miscalculated the power of the water like many do.
Halvar Carlson lives on the island in the house his family has lived in for several generations. Halvar is healing from his wife cheating on him and using their children to play games with him. He decides to take a chance on a holiday romance with Angel and magic happens like it does with the mystery and magic of Holy Islands.
Can these two wounded souls find healing on this Holy Island over the magical time of Christmas? It is up to you to read Ms. Woods lovely novel and get in the mood for the Christmas holidays. (Actually I think you should read the other three books in this series which can be read out of order. They are that good and will put you in the mood for the holidays.)
I did receive a copy of this novel from the author in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2023I love how direct the protagonists are which helps both of them to get to know their selves. Great story and not too long.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2019A great story of two people with broken hearts and baggage to spare. Each offering the other person a forgiveness and understanding they’re unable to offer themselves. As the two broken souls help each other repair their fractured hearts and lives they find themselves and each other.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2017There were many sweet moments in If Kisses Were Snowflakes.
After a rough few years, Angel decides to take life in her own hands and have a self-reflecting Christmas alone on Holy Island. Making a foolish choice due to fatigue, she ends up stranded in crappy weather, until Hal discovers and rescues her during his own crossing home hours later.
I really liked Hal and Angel as a couple, even in the early blossoming stages. They seemed to understand the hard times the other was going through and offer support. Their shared interests helped them both feel a kindness and personal connection neither had felt in quite some time.
Doing my best to not spoil the ending, I wholeheartedly approve of how Angel chose to handle her big conflict at the end. I really had no idea what she might do when given the ultimatum and was quite pleased with her decision. Similarly, with Hal, I thought it was about time he took a stand on his big problem.
That being said, there were a few things that really stuck in my craw. I was annoyed about how often Angel brought up she was a few years older than Hal and how hard it would be for others to accept it. When I first found out Angel's age, I was surprised, since her behavior would lead me to believe she was almost a decade younger. I can understand she's had a rough go of it, but she occasionally seemed so immature I wasn't sure how to feel about her actions. While Hal acted the responsible adult, I was disappointed with his inability to stand up for himself in the beginning.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2019An awesome uplifting Christmas story. Ms. Woods does a remarkable job of winding difficult topics into a story that is hard to set down. Both the h & h grow into a happy loving, equal, & productive couple. One I will reread.

5.0 out of 5 stars Want to explore Lindisfarne
I thought this book was going to be an updated version of Stranded with a Scotsman, but it's not. I loved this story and am so glad I downloaded it. I always enjoy Serenity Woods' books as they have a good mixture of romance & spice and are well written. This book has left me wanting to explore Lindisfarne because of the descriptions of the island. Looking forward to the next book. Dx

5.0 out of 5 stars Fate, love and Christmas 🎄❤️
If Kisses Were Snowflakes is the ninth book I’ve read by Serenity Woods and she still manages to make me fall in love with her incredibly fascinating and well-rounded characters as well as her phenomenal descriptions of the settings for her stories.
This one takes place on Lindisfarne Island - which is off the north coast of England and is regularly cut off from the mainland due to the ocean tides. It’s renowned for its history - especially its links to the Vikings - and Serenity manages to weave a beautifully romantic Christmas love story around this historical delight.
Angel and Hal (our own personal Ragnar 😉😍) are wonderfully written characters who come together by chance. Serenity doesn’t shy away from giving these two some pretty heavy issues to deal with - namely a marriage breakdown and depression - but it’s done in such a way that normalises these issues, rather than makes a big deal out of them. And I loved that so very much.
If Kisses Were Snowflakes (and wait until the title turns up in the book - a beautiful moment) is more than just a fluffy Christmas romance. It’s a story that will touch your heart and have you wanting to travel to Lindisfarne and find your own Hal 😍❤️

4.0 out of 5 stars More than just a story
I liked the characters in this book, especially the main ones (Angel and Hal). They met in an unusual way and their path to true love was not smooth but interesting. I really liked the links to YouTube which meant you could listen to the music that they were listening to. Close to giving it 5 stars but only do that for books that I will read more than twice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Aw
Fast & furious from the get go. Angel is in need of some quiet time, but hadn't planned on meeting her very own viking.
