USA; Nevada - Ex-marine Travis Dexter is on the run after he discovers the body of his employer - philanthropist Julian Smithies - murdered in his home. The only object missing; a recently discovered, rare and valuable space meteorite, its origin unknown.

Exuma; Bahamas - Four sport divers make a startling discovery at the bottom of Mystery Cave Blue Hole; Space scientists are shocked, but how did it get there, and what can it mean?

Whilst there, he meets marine biologist, Dr Sally Rivea, who is also assigned to the case. Could the whale deaths on both sides of the Atlantic be linked?

As they begin their quest for answers, they unearth clues to a potential planetary threat that could wipe out billions...

From the Author

The Tunguska Event mentioned above is no longer the most recent sizable meteorite to have struck the Earth. Incredibly, on 15th February 2013 - coincidentally almost exactly 1 year after IMPACT POINT was published - a house-sized meteorite weighing about 9000 tonnes has again hit Russia's Siberia region injuring around 1000 people in the city of Chelyabinsk. Analysis reveals that the meteor first became visible around 92 kilometers above ground. Just over 11 seconds later, at a height of nearly 32 kilometers, it exploded spectacularly under the stress of heating and air drag with the force of over 30 Hiroshima bombs... IMPACT POINT is a science fiction techno-thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final page is turned!
Impact Point is a fast paced action thriller covering the following themes;

* Extinction
* Space
* Terrorism
* Sea adventure
* Asteroids/comets/meteorites
* Conspiracy
* Cataclysm
* Disaster
SI ROSSER is the author of TIPPING POINT, the first book in the Robert Spire series, IMPACT POINT, the second, and MELT ZONE, the third Spire novel. The adventures don't necessarily need to be read in order, but it is preferable. The author is currently working on the fourth Spire thriller -CATACLYSM of the ANCIENTS, and has just released, VAPORIZED

    This is a very complex, exciting mystery that actually could be written in three novels. So here, you get it all and read to the end as all the stories collide into one. Remember learning about the Tunguska, Russia, devastation when a large meteorite struck in the Siberian forest? Well, asteroids are even threatening earth in modern times. This is the story which introduces you to Robert Spire, who works at the newly operational Global Environmental Command (GLENCOM), part of the British MI6 complex. Prior to training months for this new job, he practiced environmental law at his law firm in west Wales, which is now mostly managed by his assistant, Kim. The mission of GLENCOM is to monitor the earth from an environmental standpoint. The numerous screen monitors reflect the different oceans of the world, showing salinity, acidity, current direction, and ocean levels, as well as monitoring rain forests, deserts, weather, air quality, and fresh water. Much information comes via Global Earth System of Systems (GEOSS) and also NOAA, NASA's Near Earth Asteroid Tracking Programs, and NSIDC.

    Travis Dexter, previously of the U.S. Army where he served in the Middle East, now works for a very wealthy California man, Julian Smithies. He's on a mission to find out what two men are trying to sell at a small rare earth gem and mineral store in Nevada. He is not the only man tracking the two men who are trying to sell something in a very heavy case. This results in three deaths at the shop, as Travis, now in possession of the case, attempts to deliver the it back to California to Julian Smithies. What he finds in the case is not diamonds, nor gold.

    Another very adept character in this story is Dr. Sally Rivea, an oceanographer who is a divorced mother whose ex-husband is a supervisor on an oil rig near the Bahamas. She and Robert Spires team up to investigate the death of two blue whales, and also a dolphin to ascertain the cause of their deaths. The whales had beached themselves during winter in the north Atlantic, uncommonly cold water for these monstrous sized mammals when they should be seeking mates in the warmer waters.
    Their research and experience lead them both into thrilling adventures and near death situations as they become targets for a secret organization called Genesis, which hopes to determine the time frame of the next catastrophic asteroid strike upon Earth which they strongly believe will be 2015.
    How will all these events link together and prevent the last days of Earth?

    Author Simon Rosser has developed a highly captivating and vigorous story which will keep you reading late into the night. His characters are fascinating, the plot development has many twists and turns and the author has woven all the elements of the story extremely well. I applaud the author in helping readers understand the changes made to our earth by mankind which have a disastrous impact on mankind and the creatures of our world. I look forward to reading more of his works.

    I was eager to read this book after I read the preview. It does have a good plot, but it also has a lot of grammar errors, typos, things like using were instead of we’re. It could use another proofreading. The only lead female character in the book seems to exist only to be rescued and reassured by the protagonist. That part is really irritating. Other female characters were few and far between and were secretaries. All of the minor characters that had positions of power, like head of this or that agency, were all male. There is one unintentional LOL moment in the book where the main character is talked to his girlfriend. She is trying to make a point and Spire keeps cutting her off. The book actually says “he cut her off” in that scene 2 or 3 times. A real face palm moment. At least I don’t recall him telling her to “calm down.” There were a lot of things I liked about this book too, like the very creepy scenes diving in “blue holes” and the drilling being done on the oil rig. Just bring the female characters into (there were a lot of incorrect uses of “in to” and “into”) the next century and have someone who can affect her own escape and handle bad guys by herself.

    15 Nov 2013 The story line could have been a great one but for the tons of errors throughout the book. I challenged myself to finish the book. This is a prime example of a book needing an editor.

    Americans and the British: two people separated by a common language. However, this author gets it wrong even in his own version of English. With the exception of two places in the book, the author used the word 'lent' in lieu of the correct British version of 'leant', or in America 'leaned'.

    Numerous American characters are found to be speaking in 'britishese'. Yep, I know, not a word.

    The lawyer might want to dictate his book and let his secretary type it. I say that because I have a cousin that's a lawyer I once corrected on some spelling. She told me she let her secretary take care of things like that.

    This is by no means all of the problems of the book. I checked with another British author and ran a couple of things by him. Some terminology in the book is not the standard in jolly old England or of British schooling such as 'parked up' or 'knocked the door'.

    Also for future reference, Americans do not call the dark black roads you see in rural areas or the main highways 'tarmac'. Referring to a tarmac here usually leads one to think of an airport. Rural roads are usually casually called a road or blacktop or a few colorful names (all expletives) if they have a great number of potholes. :) Cities have highways, freeways and interstates in addition to streets, avenues, boulevards, etc.

    Americans do not use the word 'queue' for standing in line. We stand in line, we wait in line and some even camp out in line if waiting on something special, but we don't queue.

    I would give an American author the same type review for trying to turn the English into Americans. If you are going to write about a particular place and people, then try to be true to their way.

    Too many things to list. These were simply the ones that stood out the most.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Impacting read!
    Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 22, 2013
    I was deciding which book to read next. I read the blurb for this book and was going to reject it, because environmental novels or novels about disasters don't usually appeal to me. I kept reading the blurb, and noticed there was a speculative element to the story, which reminded me a bit of Man Plus by Frederick Pohl.

    I was not disappointed once I started reading the story. I have been unable to finish the last few stories I had started reading, but this brought back the energy I felt the others lacked. It was action-packed from the start, and the author soon brings the reader into the story with the 'problem', which was the mysterious beaching of a few whales.

    I particularly liked the James Bond element to Impact Point. It was James Bond, transformed from the Cold War setting to a modern world, where terrorists lurk, Twitter and Facebook and YouTube are present, and mobile phones are in use. However, it wasn't all James Bond. The two main characters were very action-oriented, but they had different backgrounds. I felt we didn't learn too much about Travis Dexter's past, but this didn't bother me as much because I was overawed with his quick-thinking abilities.

    The impending disaster allowed for a very exciting read as the reactions of the main characters coincided with larger forces. I also commend the author on the originality of the scientists, in the terms of their aims. It was a very realistic read.

    However, I didn't give it five stars, but it was close. My reasoning was that the number of grammatical and spelling mistakes increases as the reader gets further into the story. It did bother me a bit, since I am a perfectionist, and it is a factor in whether I would decide to read another book by this author. The story itself was great, and on that merit I would certainly read this author's work again.

    I have just finished this book and thoroughly enjoyed it.
    It had me on the edge of my seat and I raced through it wanting to find out the outcome.
    It's extremely well plotted and very well written and I shall be exploring more of Simon Rosser's works as soon as possible. Although fiction the book is based on a random series of events that are all too possible. I'm not,in any way,a "Green" but the book does make you think about how fragile life is on this blue ball spinning through the cosmos.
