I See You (Oracle Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 1,062 ratings

Over a year and a half had passed since Jade Godfrey — aka the dowser — fixed my mother’s necklace. Since I’d thwarted the vision of the death of love. Since I’d made a deal with a devil and acquired a demigod for a mentor. I still didn’t understand or control my power, my magic, but it had been a great year. A year of rest. A year of love and light. But now the reprieve was over. Now it was time to see. Magic willed it so.

I See You is the second book in the Oracle series, which is set in the same universe as the Dowser, Reconstructionist, Amplifier, Archivist, and Misfits of the Adept Universe series. While it is not necessary to read all the series, in order to avoid spoilers the ideal reading order of the Adept Universe begins with Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic (Dowser 1).

The First book was quite good, but I reviewed it as a standalone book of fantasy to help others decide on the Book without the entanglement of the series as a whole. This is an intense, well-penned, and informative addition. The author, (M.C. Doidge), coiled an outstanding plot around the fleshing out of the characters, their world, and relationships to each other.

Rochelle is a character any author should be proud to have written, and the portrayal of the world she created is truly captivating to an avid reader of fantasy novels. I very much enjoyed getting to learn more about the many brilliant characters, and Blackwell is particularly interesting.

I am happy that there is a definite anti-drugs message held within the pages of this book. Although, as a person well beyond the age of 18 (The rightly legal age for vaping), I do want readers, especially those looking to quit smoking, to please do their own research on the subject of vaping. I write this because I have done so quite deeply, and I am satisfied that my way of vaping is of little to no risk for me. If you're underage, please wait. Adults, please don't take my input as positive advertising. I just wanted to clarify that I and others have found vaping to be a calming, helpful agent that is far and beyond the levels of danger that smoking cigarettes provides.

Enough of that subject, back to this second offering in this series. So, if you are in for a penny or a pound, you are in either way. I am having a great time reading these and will but the third installment right after this review is completed. Having the next few hours to myself is making a one-sitting read very possible. My eagerness to dive into the next days much in and of itself, don't you think?

Set in the world of the Dowser series, this second book of the Oracle follows Rochelle as her visions return. She thought she was all over those annoying and scary seeings. Hah! Fat chance of that. Turns out it was just a reprieve and now she sees danger to the only one she loves. So... does one do nothing or try to change the vision? What if trying to change it, fulfills it? Decisions, decisions. And to top it all off, her tatoos are acting wierd... yeah, I wrote that. Is there more to Rochelle than incapacitating visions and an extremely attractive boy friend (so I'm assured)? What happens when her tatoos go rogue? How long will the Brave continue to run? How many times will Beau have to replace the steering wheel and the suspension? It's not built for shapeshifters, I tell you! Along the way she and Beau enlist the help of others with whom we are familiar. See Kandy being civil as you've never seen her before! Is Black actually not so very evil? Rochelle just keeps accumulating debt, what will the final tally be?

Book is well written and will last a fast reader most of the day. Another excellent episode in a world I love visiting and wouldn't mind living in.

different sides of loved and love to hate characters. What's special for me in this series, is my desire to read the next. Only truly talented writers have the ability to pull me in like that. New players come and go, with only a special few to return. This thoughtful process prevents the confusion of character overdose. The relationships are amazing, bound by love, hate, or a bit of both. What I'd really like is to curl up with my nose deep in the soothing smells and secure warm of that yummy Alpha Desmond.

I love the Dowser series and the Oracle novels are a nice bonus. I love the quick pace of Meghan Ciana Doidge's books and rarely do they last me more than a couple of readings before I "devour" them. I enjoy the Oracle books but I really can't wait for the next Dowser (cupcake!) novel. I adore the friendships that Jade has forged and particularly the friendship between her and Kandy and while it was nice that Kandy was in I See You I was really missing her being with Jade. I enjoyed the read though and can't wait for the next novel.

Lots of strength in this second book of the series which ties in nicely with the author's Dowser series. This is very much in the vein of other fantasy authors I follow like Kelley Armstrong. A strong story unfolds in an urban universe that feels very real and her action scenes have strong visual components and fast pacing. The female protagonist is very young, strong yet inexperienced. There are plenty of juicy, romantic and physical love scenes for readers to enjoy which keep this book from being completely appropriate for the YA audience, though I imagine that will be part of the lure for them. A few errors made it past the editor but overall it is amongst the top of the heap of Indy offerings I've read and certainly the story compares favorably to many of the big publishing house offerings. I look forward to the next installment and will most likely pre-order.

To review and not give a hint of the context is hard. The story compels you to keep reading, to find what happens next and to devour what is happening now. Although I may not like what happened, I LOVED the story line for it was real and magical all at the same time. Only one point did not connect; it was not bogus either, just allowed to sway in the breeze. Maybe it is meant too, maybe it was an over sight. Let us see what happens in Book 3!
    EXCELLENT READ!

I love the Oracle series, in some ways more than Cupcakes! Rochelle is a character that evokes sympathy, you want her and Beau to have their happy ending, as until they met each other they their lives were harsh. Where as the perkiness of Jade can grate at times, I feel Rochelle's insecurities, doubt and struggles. The books are a quick easy entertaining read, it's not War and Peace, but there's enough there to keep you going until the end a nice balance of escapism.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ok but not as good as the Dowser series

This one was just ok. It was a 3.5 out of 5. I love the dowser series but the oracle series isn't as good in my opinion. I guess I miss all the chocolate and snark from the Dowser series. Although if you're reading the entire series like I am, then don't skip the oracle books. They really do fit in between the dowser books perfectly. We learn much more about the sorcerer Blackwell this time and also all about Beau's abusive family. It was good but sad to see such a lovely young man's previous abusive history. Thank god he found Rochelle.

I downloaded the first Dowser book on a whim to take on holiday. I've been addicted ever since. Funny & complex characters, tastey magic. Not to mention the cupcakes! Couldn't ask for more. The Oracle series, is in the same universe (read them in order, trust me) is no different. The main players are a younger but but no less compelling. I read it in less than 2 days. Buy the set, snuggle down in a comfy chair and prepare to meet some new friends.
