Ice Angels (Bethesda Barracudas Hockey Book 4) Kindle Edition
Todd Cleever and Drew Simon are head over skates for each other, but when it comes to taking their love out of the shadows, they’re stuck on the bench. Their romance started three years ago when Cleevs was a rookie defenseman for the Chicago Ice, and Drew, the team's seasoned captain, was rocking the hockey world. Both were masters at keeping secrets, but it didn't take long for them to drop the puck on a clandestine romance.
A heartbreaking trade sent Cleevs packing to the Bethesda Barracudas a year later, and since then, he and Drew have been playing a game of relationship hide-and-seek. Stolen nights, “just friends” vacations, and enough longing to fill an ice rink have become their norm. After two years of living in different time zones, the ice is getting thin.
As the holiday season approaches, Drew and Cleevs decide it's time for a power play. But going public with their love is a whole new game—one with very high stakes. With their careers on the line, how can they score the ultimate game-winning goal without losing everything they cherish?
Get ready for a face-off with fierce love, a smallish age gap, adrenaline-pumping hockey, and a steely determination to defrost their romance. This book promises enough steam to fog up all your windows and a happily-ever-after more satisfying than a hat trick.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2021Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseIf I could craft the ideal happily ever after, I imagine it would be the story told within the pages of this book. So often, we read stories that end at the HEA. This one starts shortly before and takes us through the rest of the journey.
Drew and Todd are the main characters in Ice Angels. They are an established couple of three years, and they deeply love each other. However, Drew is deep in the closet. While Todd is out, his relationship is just as closeted as Drew is. On top of that, they live separate lives, except when they face each other on the ice.
I love the way Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood wrote this story. The love between Drew and Todd is so strong that it's almost tangible. If you've spent any time in the author duo's Facebook group, you've seen their real-life love in action. I genuinely believe their relationship is the real deal, and it shows through their stories.
It didn't take me long to get lost in this book and fall in love with Drew and Todd. They are exceptional men, teammates, friends, and boyfriends. I couldn't pick a favorite of the two, even if under force. They are both equally great characters. We met both of them briefly in previous books, but we never really knew anything about them. (Don't worry. If you haven't read the previous books, you won't be left confused or trying to catch up) That all changes in this book. They went from minor side characters to main characters and revealed everything we never knew we needed to know.
I found myself smiling many times throughout this book--with the broadest, ear-splitting grin once I finished. There were a few parts I even gasped with joy upon reading. Do you know those books that make your heart feel warm and full of fuzzies? Ice Angels is the epitome of that book. It has easily become one of my favorites. I think it just knocked a book off of the top three, and those have been there since mid-2020.
Do not let anything keep you from reading this book. The way they write the hockey scenes makes even a novice understand what's going on. They pull you into every single part of the book, whether you planned on skipping that part or not. I do not advise skipping anything in their books because you will miss something golden. I guarantee it. This book is a novella, but it is wonderfully written. Nothing is rushed, left out, or only skimmed over. This love story is complete and will leave you feeling like you just received one of the best hugs you have ever had.
You will want to read this book over and over again. I know I do!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWritten in dual first person POV. Lots of M/M sexy times, some of which are more silly than hot. Has an HEA. Can be read as a standalone but reading books 1 and 3 make this one better.
This book is on the shorter side compared to the others. I think my only real issue I that the reader is told how hard the distance is as opposed to shown. The book begins after the couple has been together for 3 years. I think that it would have been better if it started when they met, continued for a bit while they dated then the big trade, then skip months at a time to bring us to the present. Just my own opinion.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2024Format: KindleVerified Purchase"Ice Angels" is a heartwarming and steamy tale that takes you into the world of Todd Cleever and Drew Simon, two hockey players navigating the highs and lows of love. Cleevs and Drew's clandestine romance on and off the ice keeps readers hooked with stolen nights and "just friends" vacations. As the holiday season approaches, they decide to make a power play and take their love public, but with careers at stake, the stakes are high. Packed with fierce love, a touch of an age gap, thrilling hockey moments, and a determination to thaw their relationship, this book delivers enough steam to fog up your windows and a happily-ever-after that's more satisfying than a hat trick. - Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt’s a well-written book, but no real conflict, no villain, no hero. There’s nothing to make me want to read it again, but I enjoyed it for the simplicity it entailed.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAmazing characters that definitely deserved everything they got in this story. Long hard years of being together but not together was hard for these two but they made it . Todd and Drew finally get what they deserve . These two became two of my favorite characters the love they waited so long to show everyone.
Again Ryan and Joshua truly right love is love in the best way. Definitely need to read.

I love this beautiful hockey romance between established couple Todd and Drew.
Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood have done it again with this beautifully written book.
Drew and Cleevs are just the best at everything they do and they have a beautiful HEA.
I highly recommend this book if you have not read it yet. It's part of the Bethesda Barracudas Hockey series and can definitely be read as a stand-alone.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIce Angels by Josh & Ryan is the story of a couple already in love living across the country from one another. It is another wonderful story of theirs that delves deeper into a loving relationship rather than new love. It is beautifully romantic and has quite a bit of steam.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseDrew Simon and Todd Cleever have been together for three years, and are so in love with each other, and very happy. There is only one issue, Drew is still very much in the closet. They live separate public lives, except when they play ice hockey, as they are teammates. In private, they are hot for each other and their chemistry is off the charts.
Ice Angels follows Drew and Todd as they navigate being a couple in the spotlight and can Drew come out?
Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood return with the Bethesda Barracudas new instalment. This book is beautifully written, by two authors who know what they are talking about. They convey their love through the pages. They write genuine mm romances and their stories never fail to impress me. They are my go to authors.
This is a re-read and it is even better the second time around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Choosing out and proud love.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was another hot and sweet hockey romance read by this writing duo. A little detail I liked was their reference to their own previous holiday book 'The Chrismukkah crisis'. I always enjoy how their stories flow and the writing is done so well.
The mc's , Todd and Drew, are already together at the start of the story but need to define what they have together and want to have going further. We follow them along their journey to their hea as active out and proud NHL players. This was a fun quick read for me and I am looking forward to more books in their hockey universe.
Audiobook: Nick J. Russo is an excellent choice for the hockey related books. He differentiates between players and his pronounciation is real clear and through that he makes this book a joy to listen to. Through his way of speaking I notice all the little details that stood out when I read the book itself. 5*

4.0 out of 5 stars An Enjoyable Love Story
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA good read full of love and romance and no angst. It is clear the authors love their hockey but this book does not overwhelm non hockey fans as it’s
the relationship between Drew and Cleevs that takes centre stage.
It is obvious from the start that these two have found their forever person and the book has plenty of steamy scenes. I always enjoy books where previous characters make appearances and Drew and Cleevs have a good support network of established friends bringing humour and banter into the story.
I like the way Ryan and Josh always include important issues in their books such as the injustices facing young gay athletes whilst also pointing out that hockey has improved and is trying to support gay players.
