Imaginary Lover: Beyond the Realm: Remember Book 8 Kindle Edition
His gut warns that something urgent is eluding him, and that time is running out. Worse is the sense of bone-deep grief, as if Cory is missing part of his soul.
Desperate for answers, he hops a bus for Fox Hollow, a town famous for psychics, mediums, and those with supernatural abilities. Then a stranger calls Cory by name and casts a furtive glance around him. “There’s no time,” the man says. “I need your help. Remember...”
Can Cory unlock his missing memories and rescue the stranger before it’s too late? Imaginary Lover is full of dangerous magic, hurt/comfort, brave monster hunters, dark curses, sincere psychics, found family, and forever love.
Imaginary Lover is the eighth book in the multi-author series, Beyond the Realm: Remember. Each book is set in its own world and can be read as a standalone novel. Join eight authors on eight very different, romantic, and magical stories as each one writes their own take on the same concept.
Imaginary Lover is set in the town Fox Hollow and includes characters from the other books in that town, but can be read as a stand-alone.

About the author

Morgan Brice is the romance pen name of bestselling author Gail Z. Martin. Morgan writes urban fantasy MM paranormal romance, with plenty of action, adventure and supernatural thrills to go with the happily ever after. Gail writes epic and urban fantasy, with less romance, more explosions.
All of the modern-day Morgan Brice and Gail Z. Martin series crossover, so characters from one series appear in cameos and on page in important secondary roles in books from other series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but the more you read the more the expanded universe of friendships and connections becomes clear.
Morgan and Gail believe that paranormal elements make any story even better, and her worlds are full of ghosts, psychics, shifters, creatures, vampires, monster hunters, and magic.
She's also a huge fan of the TV show Supernatural. (Chibi art by Kamidiox)

- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2020Cory wakes up on the side of the road with no memory of who he is or how he got there. As he struggles to piece together what has happened he keeps having dreams involving a man. These dreams all tell him to remember his imaginary lover when he can’t even remember who he is himself. He finds himself in the town of Fox Hollow where hopefully he can get some answers. Once he arrives, he suddenly finds himself in the middle of a fight not only for his own life, but that of someone he desperately wishes he could remember.
Welcome to Fox Hollow! If you have read any other books by Morgan Brice you will find some characters you know and already love. This author is so good at creating memorable characters and weaving together some amazing stories. You don’t need any background though in order to love this one. I am such a huge fan of this genre and this author. Now this book is part of a larger series: Beyond the Realm. A bunch of different authors took one premise and each wrote a stand alone book set in their own worlds. This is a fascinating idea and one that I hope to see more of in the future. I highly recommend this book and go back and look up more books not only in this set but by Morgan Brice as well!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2020This is written as past of the Fox Hollow series that Morgan Brice has started, with connections to several other urban fantasy/paranormal series. I don't really see this as a stand alone because knowing about Fox Hollow will help. I recommend reading The Huntsman to have it make the most sense (you can read this first, though, and it should still work). That said, this is an excellent edition to the shared universe and adds just a bit more explanation and fleshes out other characters a little more. That's what's been truly well-done by Brice in all of the connected series. I enjoy getting to see flashes of other characters, even if it's just in passing, because it gives you just a bit more of who they are. (You don't have to read any of the other series to enjoy the Fox Hollow books but I think it will increase your enjoyment).
This is a complete story so you get everything, including character development for Cory and a little of Max. Brice does a great job of keeping you guessing on whether or not Cory will get to Max in time. I don't want to give it away but there were crappy magical doings. Brice doesn't disappoint in the lead up and there was some definite tension and even though I've read plenty of other books in the connected series and know we will get a good ending, I still had doubts and was so worried. But it paid off in the end. Whew! The ability to add tension and have a satisfying conclusion to what is really more of a novella is a hallmark of Brice's writing - and something I really enjoy.
If you like paranormal/urban fantasy with witches, mediums, shifters, you name it - then you'll like Brice's works. I recommend immersing yourself in the entire world and reading all of the connected series. It's like reading a television series (I'm serious!).
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2020Morgan Brice always writes the most interesting characters. Cory is no exception. From the first page she has you so intrigued by his predicament. Is he a shifter? Is he a hunter? What happened to his memory? Then you throw in the hot guy he is dreaming of. Oh my god! I loved every minute of this book! I loved the fact that we got to visit Liam and Russ in Fox Hollow again. Also Dr. Jeffries. The kindness that they all show Cory is so wonderful. Plus we get a little involvement with the Kings. I hope we get to have more of Max and Cory in another book. Loved them so much! This book just made my Supernatural heart so happy! I did receive a copy of this book from GRR, but loved it so much that I bought my own copy. This is my honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2020I’d read this author’s other story set in Fox Hollow, so I was excited to see that Imaginary Lover would be set in that same world even though it’s part of a shared series with other authors. The opening does definitely grab the reader’s attention with Cory’s predicament, waking on the side of the road without his memory.
From there it’s a quest for him to find out who he is and how he wound up that way, with him finding his way to Fox Hollow and the interesting residents there to look for help. It was great to see so many familiar characters again, and watch as they help Cory find out who he is and who his dream lover is as well.
Along the way some characters from the author’s other series do pop up in both quick and substantial cameo roles as everyone works to discover what happened to Cory, and how to help him and his lover. There is a fair bit of drama, though nothing over the top, and peppered in along the way are plenty of steamy times with Cory and his dream lover. Can you say “sex magic”? Yep, that’s your tease for this one ;-)
I really enjoyed visiting Fox Hollow again, and wound up reading this in one sitting. Imaginary Lover gets 4.5 stars from me, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of Cory Max in this author’s different series in the future! This book is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2020This was a really good read! I can't even imagine waking up in a ditch not knowing who you are or where you are. Cory has his instincts and they lead him to the town of Fox Hollow. He consults with a psychic to find out anything about himself or why he feels as if someone is missing from his life. Some pretty realistic sex dreams gives him a clue to who he is missing ;)
The story has witches and shifters. It is super entertaining.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2021Loved going back to fox hollow and seeing everyone again. Morgan brice may not be a "master of suspense" really but they are amazing at drawing the reader in and making them feel like part of the story. You could really feel the intensity of their bond and cory's frantic need to not only find put who he was but also where his soulmate could be found.
Fantastic read and morgan brice is a fantastic author. Worth every second!

5.0 out of 5 stars What if you woke up not knowing anything?
A great story, with well fleshed out characters and great intrigue. I love how we get cameos from the other series and how the whole world grows more with each book. Easy to read on its own but really enjoyed it tying in with the others.
Always worth a look!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! This is a very wide world!
First of all, this book 8 in the Beyond the Realm series can be read as a standalone and you don't need to read any else to fully enjoy it. But this amazing book Is as others in the series well beyond the series' scope. This book Is another proof that how brilliant is Ms Brice in creating magical worlds. The intertwining stories and characters set on this Universe gave to the story an ambiance of reality and validate the background. It Is so enjoyable that at the same time we witness Cory's predicament, many of our beloved characters from other books appear in more or less degree to help him to remember. Another captivating plot written by Morgan Brice. Simply...WOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost impossible to put down.
Another excellent story from Morgan Brice. Almost impossible to put down.
A man awakens by the side of the road with no memories of who he is or how he got there. Just a feeling of urgency and a dread of police involvement.
Time is running out, but on what? He needs to get back his memories to save ... who?

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I have read the first book in the Fox Hollow series, and found that definitely helped with understanding this book. This book was very light with regards to worldbuilding so I don't see how a reader would be able to follow it without having read the other series first, so I would not consider this a stand-alone read. I think this book also relied heavily on the reader knowing that series so didn't put much attention into character building and development either.
The storyline also didn't hold steady or consistent for the entire book. We have several instances of something being said or done at the start of the book not matching events or discussions later in the book. We also have aspects made to feel important that are never explained or closed out - one example being the conscience-like voice Cody heard in his head before he gets his memories back. It completely disappears and we're never told why, or why it was there in the first place.
The whole "imaginary lover" aspect didn't make sense either. Cory has a couple of hazy memories as he's trying to sort his amnesia, and some of those are of his partner/lover - not what I would consider an imaginary lover given they were memories. And for ghost-Max to refer to himself as an imaginary lover didn't make sense either.
This book started well and had a lot of potential but ended up on a completely different path to where it started - it wasn't even a tangent from what was laid out in the beginning. Sadly, not a book I would recommend.
