Wilson Jasper McLaglen IV inherits three things when he loses his parents…his father’s partnership in the law firm he helped build, the stately Southern home he grew up in and the family’s distillery. To the outside world it seems like he has it all. Except someone to share it with. Elyse Gibbs inherits two things when she loses her parents…a mountain of debt and her little brother. To the first year law school student, both are overwhelming…and it’s a losing battle she is fighting alone. When Wil McLaglen literally knocks her off her feet, it seems he could be the answer to her prayers. Instead she’s too proud, too headstrong, and she pushes him away. Will she let her pride get in the way of her heart? Wil wants to give her a future, to make her dreams come true, to give her a family. Now if she could only realize she truly is his dream, that her dreams are his dreams…if she could only let him make those dreams a reality, for them all.

I absolutely loved the way Ms. Britt intertwined the main characters' lives together. From beginning to end, I was completely hooked.

That's the first book I read by Lorrain Britt. It is not exactly my type of a book as it was a little bit too sweet for my tastes but that doesn't mean that the book isn't good. The writing is pretty good and the characters are well developed. The story flows smoothly and it is easy to follow. What was missing for me was a little bit higher hotness factor and probably some suspense. If you follow my reviews, you know that that's what I crave in my favorite books :)

But let me focus on the pluses of this book :) I quite liked the characters. Wil and Elyze are quite an interesting couple. Both of them lived through a heartbreak in their recent past and that changed their their lives quite a lot. It also changed their way of thinking and in a way their dreams. Wil and Elyze are on the two opposite sides of the social specter. Where Wil is rich, successful and with a family money behind his back, Elyze barely manages to make both ends meet while studying, working and raising her young brother. The connection between them is undeniable from the first moment their eyes connected. After going through some though situations they finally manage to find their special place and HEA :)

As a whole this wasn't a bad read. It was not exactly my type of a book as it was a little bit too sweet from my tastes. The book was really well written with really interesting characters. It is a somewhat short story which makes it perfect for a relaxing summer night read. So if you are into sweet romance stories I will definitely recommend you check In Love's Defense, as this book is exactly up your alley :)

This is a sweet, pure love story. Will is a well to do lawyer, and very lonely! He rambles around the mansion his parents left him with no one to love. He wants a woman who is real, not a baraccuda who will eat him and his fortune alive! Elyse is raising her younger brother and going to college, and working to try to make ends meet After their Mother's death from cancer and their Father's suicide soon after. They meet when she spills coffee all over his suit accidentally at the courthouse where he goes to fill papers. He can't stop thinking about her so he has his secretary do some digging to find out her name. Before he can find out much more her little brother joins the basketball team he is coaching and they meet again a second time.
This is my first time reading a story by Lorraine Britt, the story kept me involved, and interested throughout. I would have liked for it to have been longer, that is my only complaint, I wanted to know the rest of the story, Sequel maybe? As I said this story is a sweet romance and short, so it can be read waiting for and appointment etc... I hadn't read a sweet romance for a long time and it was a nice reintroduction to them. There is not much
sex in this book, but that is a plus if you do not enjoy all the erotic stuff out today.I believe this author has a lot more books to write, and I would like to see her write a good long book, please? I would be first in line to buy it, she tells a good story! I read the book for review as part of the MNP Review Team.

I was given this book to read in turn for an honest review!!!

Wil McLaglen was feeling the burden of a life without someone to share it with; until he meets Elyse Gibbs. Wil McLaglen knew she was the woman he was to share the rest of his life with; can he break the walls Elyse has built round her? Will Elyse let Wil in and give her the love she deserves?

This is the first of Lorraine Britt’s stories I have had the pleasure of reading and it won’t be my last. This story is a sweet, beautiful and heartfelt romance, one that will have you swooning; without all the drama that’s full of love, care, amending broken souls and giving hope. Wil and Elyse are both loveable characters, sweet, polite and deserving of happiness. Elyse’s brother is a wonderful little boy with a heart of gold considering all he has lost. I really loved Wil’s assistant Peggy; she is the adopted Mum/Grandma everyone needs. Lorraine Britt draws you into the story right from the beginning. Her characters are well developed and intriguing; you will want to know their story. I can’t wait to read more from Lorraine Britt.

If you love sweet romances without the drama, you will absolutely love In Love’s Defense by Lorraine Britt.

In Love’s defense is a romantic story about two people who are perfect for each other and lead very different lives but both want the same thing, not to be alone.

Wilson McLaglen IV has his father’s partnership in a law firm, his family’s distillery and a gorgeous stately home but he has nobody to share it with. Law wasn’t his first choice, basketball is his real love but after an unfortunate injury, he was unable to play professionally. Sadly, his parents died so he lives his life alone.

Elyse Gibbs has almost nothing, except a mountain of debt and her little brother. She also lost her parents and is a first year law school student with a part time job as a librarian. She’s an amazing sister and role model and sells her beloved books to scrape together enough money to pay for her brother’s basketball training.

Wil bumps into Elyse at the court house one day and can’t stop thinking about her. He gets his assistant to try and find out more about her but he doesn’t even know her name.

When they meet again, Elyse is very shy and when they start to get close, she pushes him away, trying to protect herself. The only problem is, it’s not just her feelings she has to consider, it’s her brother’s too as he and Wil have become close.

Will Elyse allow her fears to prevent her being happy and can Wil get the family he desperately wants and needs?
