In Search of Love: A Regency Romance (Convenient Arrangements Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 1,261 ratings

A lady in her third Season. A lord who is a rake. A case of mistaken identity changes their lives.

Miss Julianna Martins has never allowed herself a moment to consider the rakes of London. She is not at all considered a ‘diamond of the first water’ and will soon be a spinster. However, a moment of mistaken identity sets her into a whirlwind of both horror and delight – and she is forced to wed a rake she has never once set eyes on before.

Lord Altringham enjoys the London pleasures and is considered to be a rake. When he drunkenly confuses Julianna with one of his paramours, society demands he marry a lady he never met. When her husband leaves her in the country and returns to London, Julianna plucks up the courage to take a step forward in her life. With the help of a trusted friend, she sets out to force her husband to not only engage with her but perhaps, just perhaps, fall in love with her too.

If you like gripping historical romance with period-perfect detail, then you’ll love this page-turning Regency romance. Grab your copy today!

The Convenient Arrangements series tells the stories of ladies who manage to find love and a Happy Ever After amidst some difficult and “convenient” situations.

Rose has read her way through countless romances over the years, “borrowing” them from her older sisters, and hiding them from her mother (Mom didn't like the sexy book covers!)

She has a special love for Regency romances and when she began writing, the Regency period was a natural place to start. The ton, the wealthy families, the Season, the dilemmas, and yes, the marriages, have always fascinated her. She loves a happy ever after! Now she is happy to bring this passion to her stories and share it with her readers.

On a personal note, Rose lives in North Carolina, is married, and has a terrier that barks too much. She enjoys taking him for walks to tire him out!

I have enjoyed many of Rose Pearson's other historical romances. However, book two of her Convenient Arrangements, In Search of Love, while original and engaging, was not one of my favorites.

The characters, Julianna and Thomas were as usual very well -developed, but failed to capture my heart. In fact, I found Julianna to be whiney and weak, unlike the characters found in Rose Pearson's other novels. Julianna finally became like the women I have come to love in Rose's other stories but not until the last half of the book. Her hero, Thomas, was so self-centered and egotistical that even when he began to grow and change, I still could find no empathy for him.

In Search of Love does have an intriguing storyline and more suspense and action than in book one of the series. It was enthralling to try and guess who was the villain in this novel. There were so many suspects it took time (and brain cells) to eliminate them from the mix! Because of this , I continued to read In Search of Love, despite my initial impressions. In the end, I gave In Search of Love a higher rating then I originally thought I would. As Rose Pearson promises, In Search of Love, provides a welcome escape from everyday life. The novel provided a peek at the heart and culture of Regency England. In the end In Search of Love did provide a warm interlude, much like a warm blanket and a cup of tea on a dreary winter day in rural Missouri. I am looking forward to reading book three in the series, soon.

I absolutely loved and enjoyed reading this amazing book. The characters are both interesting and entertaining. I found myself completely immersed in the story of Juliana. It has a wonderful series of adventure and mystery. The story is extremely inspiring and has an excellent happy ending. Definitely a must read and highly recommend reading this beautiful story. Congratulations on your amazing writing.

This is a clean read wherein the characters both change over time. The hero goes from rake to gentleman, the heroine goes from insipid to having a bit of backbone and the nice guy turns out to be a villain. Nice ending.

This is a wonderful book, with complex characters and good dialogue. The dialogue pulls the Reader into the story. Both the Heroine and Hero realistically grow throughout.
*spoiler alert* below as my reason for 4 stars

The only reason I gave 4 stars is the lack of realism for the Hero to heal from a gunshot wound "near his heart" before the heroine even finished washing blood off her hands, and the Hero is dancing at a ball the next night.

This story was full of rakes and wastrels and even a whodunit with a nefarious character: A gambling, drinking father searching for a wealthy gentleman to marry his daughter, a rake who loved all the ladies and got caught up in societal strictures which forced him to marry the heroine, Julianna, because he kissed her at a public ball while he was drunk. Thus, their "courtship" after marriage was slow to start with many problems along the way...but... Now you'll have to read the story for yourself to find out how it all ended for Lord Altringham and Miss Martins!

The picture of the heroine on the cover is very pretty. Searching for love can be full of choices, good or bad. Julianna and Lord Altringham were forced to marry because he mistakenly thought she was someone else. Married, but separated after he drops her off at his estate. What does she do then. Seeks advice from another lady and acts on it. This creates a very good plot with good characters who work through to the ending. I accepted this book freely and voluntarily give my opinion.

Many twist and turns but still a sweet story of love found. It started with disaster but ended with love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Enjoyable Story.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 2, 2020
A very readable story, Julianna was such a lovely girl, blighted by her her horrible father and then by her horrible husband initially. The arrogant, spoilt rake of a man, Lord Altringham ruined Julianna's third attempt at 'come out' and she would have languished in the country had it not been for her dear grandmama Lady Newfield prodding her into action. Each time something happened to Lord Altringham I couldn't help but cheer, for it was what he deserved, but Julianna grew to love him.
An excellent story by Rose and I would thoroughly recommend it, and her books are so reasonably priced. I look forward to the next in the series.
