In Her Words: An addictive psychological thriller Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 146 ratings

Michael Frisk seems to offer the exciting escape that Sophie Knight believes she needs. He’s carefree, gorgeous, and fun-loving. What harm could just one night of fun bring?

Even though Sophie seems to have it all—she’s beautiful, lives in a swanky apartment, has a thriving career and a devoted husband—she’s looking for something more. Her unhappiness has led her to drink too much, something she tries to hide from her husband. But her alcohol binges leave her in a haze and suffering from blackouts.

One morning, she awakens, finding bruises on her body, and has no recollection of how she got home. Now Sophie has more than drinking to hide from her husband. Then, strange things happen—notes in her mailbox, mysterious phone calls, and she suspects that someone is following her.

Is Michael the one she should trust, or is he the cause of her trouble?

"This was a really dark thriller that hooked me from the beginning!" Goodreads review. ....."What a fabulous book. It was full of twists that kept me guessing from start to finish. It showed the impact addiction can have and how we don't always know what someone is going through because people can put on a good front. In her words was a wonderfully gripping read. I look forward to reading more from Ellis." BABYDOLLS AND RAZORBLADES..

done in a way that feels unique at the same time." Blue Mood Cafe"In Her Words is a uniquely written story. The entire format is from a diary perspective. This was a really cool idea and definitely got you into the head of the character." - Goodreads reviewer..."In Her Words" is an excellent debut, and one of the best suspense novels I've ever read. The story is told from a "diary" point of view... First time I read a "diary" but I really liked this style. Sophie... as it says in the blurb, she has at all, the looks, the husband, the apartment, and the career but despite all of this, she’s a total mess. Then, one night she goes out with her friend and wakes up the next day with bruises all over her body. The book takes a sexy turn when she meets Michael a younger man and has an affair with him. This is one of those books that I couldn't put down. Curiosity kept me reading through it the whole night..and morning! I'm glad i did! Highly recommended

Little tiring at times in the second half and slightly confusing. The ending caught me off guard and I had to read the last section to get it straight.

I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This book is a psychological thriller written in a unique way. A gripping story line with gentle twists and turns. This was my first JS Ellis book, but certainly not my last. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟!

Could not put this book down! This would make a great movie! A little slow at first but than you question what's happening! You won't see this coming!! Keep a diary n anything mysterious!!

The book was good but I’m surprised it wasn’t caught for copyright issues. A lot of the lines in this books are straight from the movie “unfaithful” with Diane Lane and Richard Gere.

Good promise but had so many inconsistencies that it troubled me to read. It needs a good editor who'd pick up on those.

I read this in two sittings. A secret journal reveals a mysterious drunken evening resulting in infidelity, blackmail and intrigue. This is a rather twisted tale with more, well...you read my headline.
J.S. Ellis knows how to craft a sordid tale but best of all a BELIEVABLE story that never asks you to suspend that belief no matter how fantastic the scenario.

Oh dear. This is so badly written, the characters are unlikable, and this doesn't read like a diary at all. I have no experience of courtrooms, but I don't believe they address anyone by first name. Finally, the supposedly Swedish names were mostly badly-spelled Finnish names. Sorry, but I am stuck for positives.
