    Reading this was like being on a diet and eating a tub of ice cream - somehow you know it's wrong, yet you enjoy every moment.

    This is dark romance, with emphasis on the dark, it should NOT be read by people who have triggers as there is physical and emotional abuse. It makes me wonder how twisted an author's mind must get to be able to write something like this and then again, how dark and twisted am I to enjoy it? Luckily for me, I am able to separate fantasy from real life and therefore, in my opinion, this was a fantastic read.

    Quinn is ruthless. A man whose past has shaped him into what he is and a man who feels that it takes too much effort making most decisions, so rolls the dice to let fate decide. Emily is the total opposite, she is innocent, hard working and a good friend. It is because of this goodness that she trusts her friend, Jenny, to set her up on a blind date, little knowing that it is actually a meeting called by Quinn Cane himself about the R100k Jenny owes for a gambling debt.

    Deciding to go against her flight instincts, Emily decides to sleep with Quinn on this "blind first date". She soon discovers the monster behind the man and it's not pretty. But, she also sees something else in him. I will admit and say that at times I felt Emily was a bit clueless and to accepting of her fate.

    Very well written. I will be waiting for the next Cane member's book to be released later this month.

    This was beautifully dark and I loved it but fair warning, there’s definitely darker content here that may be triggering for some people.
    I wanted to hate Quinn for his actions, I really did but I just couldn’t!

    QUINN
    Ooft! This man oozes alpha vibes from the very first page.
    Quinn is a complicated and stone-cold man...until Emily comes along.
    His upbringing in the mafia lifestyle had him learning harsh lessons at a very young age and it messed him up.
    He’s taken over the family business from his father and rules it with an iron fist and a set of dice, lol. (you’ll understand that remark when you start reading :-) )

    He has a real hate-on for his father, and quite rightly so as the man made bad judgement calls that resulted in him sending his wife (Quinn’s mother) to another family to do with as they saw fit!

    Since then his mother is sadly broken. She is in and out of awareness and has no idea where she is or even what day it is.

    Anyway, Quinn decides to step up and change things.
    Make the business better.
    Save his younger brothers from having to do the things he has had to.

    He trusts no one and cares for no one.
    Until he stumbles across Emily when trying to collect on a debt made by someone else.
    He knows she’s innocent but just can’t stay away.
    He wants her...so he keeps her!

    EMILY
    Emily is a sweet if naive lass with a big and loyal heart. Unfortunately because of that some people are gonny take advantage of it and walk all over her.
    Which, in case you didn’t already know, sends me aff ma nut!

    So when her best friend whom she cares about and goes out of her way to help, starts to show her true colours my alpha boss was all upfront and frothing at the mouth, lol.

    Maybe because, like me, she was very unpopular in high school I just wanted to reach out and take her under my wing all throughout the book.
    Anyway, when Jenny asks her if she’ll take her place on a blind date that she can’t manage to go to Emily reluctantly accepts.

    Arriving at the restaurant she is pleasantly surprised to meet an extremely attractive man but...something is off with him and it rattles her a little.
    After a few wee drams, they go to his hotel suite and wow!! The dude can talk better than anyone else I’ve read in a long time.

    Emily has always been fairly...timid and reserved so when Quinn forces her inner dirty girl out of hiding she is utterly shocked and horrified at how much she likes it.
    But she has no idea what he has in store for her.
    She’s held captive at this beautiful monster’s home and that’s when stuff gets real.

    Final thoughts on INNOCENT EYES by Charlotte E Hart & Rachel De Lune
    I’ll admit that in the beginning I got irritated with how Emily let people walk all over her and take advantage but as the story goes on you witness her evolving beautifully and becoming something she never thought she could. Loved this story and the suspense all the way through it.

    Jenny is such a terrible friend always late for work knowing because she’s “friends” with the owner it’s ok for her 😒she was written well I didn’t know if she was at it, or something bad was happening to her but you get to find out very quickly how that goes down!

    Emily is a fantastic character I loved her, I mean talk about walking into the lions den!!! I don’t think she could have prepared herself for the “date” that would change everything!

The writing was superb and the co-writing was smooth and flowed excellently. A fab new dark read!

    Emily, the quiet and unassuming photographer with mismatched innocent eyes, a body and soul unblemished by the taint of evil and sin that comes from messing with the edge of darkness that surrounds a family like Cane's. I loved her purity and strength even when she seemed so fragile, her resilience and will to do whats right and protect was admirable in her character, but her strength and good intentions was her undoing as it led her into the unrelenting grip of Quinn Cane.

    A man such Quinn can tear the walls down with a roll of the dice, a smoldering charm and a deviance that had me wide eyed and squirming even at his most vicious and callous. What a Cane wants he takes, and poor little Emily had no idea what lay beyond his eyes, charm and seductive touch.

    This story was a dark romance that held me to the end, with a plot thicker and more fluid than family blood, and characters that had me turning the pages for more. It was deviant, darkly alluring, decadently satisfying and dark as pitch.

    This is the first book I've read by these authors. I love dark romance, but this was just a little too dark for me. I struggled to connect with Quinn, because he was too harsh with Emily. and I struggled to connect with Emily because she was just so weak and rolled over at Quinn's every whim. If you like a twisted romance then this will be a book for you. I just couldn't connect I'm afraid.
