4.5 out of 5 stars 254 ratings

A TRAGIC BEGINNING…

Isadora Nikitas understands what it means to be betrayed. That lesson was taught to her in the prime of her life, and when she is offered a chance to exact revenge, she finds it difficult to refuse.

Instead, she entrusts her survival to a mysterious vampire known only as Diomêdês, a male who wants nothing in return but to watch over her—in every way imaginable.

Gifted with speed, strength, and immortality, she determines that her life will no longer be governed by the needs and wants of a mere man. She has cowered for the last time, and with her Ancient by her side, she thrives and blossoms into the most formidable female vampire in existence.

But, once upon a time, like all little girls, Isadora believed in love. She believed it because she once had it. So, when it comes along a second time, she knows that it’s possible—but when you love someone, they become your weakness. Unless, in fact, they become your enemy instead…

A MYSTERIOUS PAST…

Fulfilling your life’s prophecy should be empowering. At least, that’s what Elias Fontana always believed. But, as he stands guard over the beautiful vampire he’s taken hostage, his convictions start to crumble. Made to believe by his creators that he and two others have been designed to destroy a dangerous race, he has difficulty connecting his current reality to the woman he once loved.

A TANGLED TALE TO UNRAVEL…

When friends become enemies and enemies become lovers, who can you trust in the webs of lies and despair? And, when your life is at stake and blood has been shed, how much are you willing to sacrifice to fulfill your destiny?

Isadora (Masters Among Monsters #2) by Ella Frank
    5 stars!!

“Damn her for being the one he could never forget. And the one he was destined to destroy.”

I am not a huge paranormal reader, I even body swerved it at any and every opportunity before I became addicted to anything that Amy Bartol penned thanks to a friend that strong armed me to read it, but sometimes you have to hold your hands up and admit you were wrong.

I have followed Ella Frank from the beginning, an author I stumbled across thanks to an Amazon recommendation and I have never looked back. Ella Frank has turned her hand to many genres and in my opinion she has excelled in all of them, I have to put my hands up and say is there anything that Ella Frank cannot write? This is one author whose writing style I can connect with, Ella Frank never fails to draw me into her stories and her characters. She always nails character connection to the point where I personally am totally immersed in their life and feel like I am living it, that is an amazing talent to have and not many authors can pull it off.

    “Se empistevome. I trust you.”

I loved the first book in this series, Alasdair, and I was eagerly anticipating reading Isadora. I had become so immersed in this world of vampires that Ella Frank had painstakingly created that I didn’t want to leave and the next book could not come soon enough. So, when Isadora hit my kindle I was buzzing with anticipation, after the ending of Alasdair I needed to dive in and so I did.

“I believe it was a footprint of sorts. A moment imprinted in time.”

Once again it did not take long to be whisked away into Ella’s world of our incredibly hot Greek God sired vampires. A clan that were fighting for their survival and after Alasdair, a clan that knew they were up against an unknown yet formidable opponent. In this book the story continues on from Alasdair so it is imperative that you have read Alasdair before starting Isadora. While this book does centre around Isadora and her sire Diomedes it also centres around her past/present relationship with Elias. Alasdair, Vasilios, Leo, Thanos et al however, still have a major part to play and their stories are continued throughout this book.

“What kind of monster have you become?”
“The one you have made me.”

There is something for everyone in this book, in true Ella Frank style she turns up the heat with some exquisite and heart wrenching M/M, M/M/M, M/F, M/F/M and F/F scenes, nothing gratuitous and all scenes having their part to play in this amazing story. As I mentioned in my Alasdair review I love the history that is woven in amongst this story and find myself being transported back to Ancient Greece as Ella Frank paints the history of these vampires with intense clarity. The fight continues for these vampires and while I would love to go into details it would ruin it for you the reader so I will have to refrain.

“If your god is up there, I am sure he will soon show his hand. Because, as of now, his pawn has become my queen.”

This series is proving to be one intense read, the suspense element keeps the pages turning frantically while the angst is perfectly balanced with their pasts and their romantic liaisons. This is a story about incredible bonds, loyalty, love and lust all interlaced with the ever present threat of danger, sacrifice and ultimately death. While this web is extremely tangled Ella Frank steers you through their stories with visceral descriptions, intense dialogue and deep connections that cannot fail to grab you by the heart.

“You are the strength in my backbone, the fire in my blood. You are the conviction in my actions, and with you beside me, it is easy to be brave.”

I take my hat off to you once again Ella Frank, I cannot express how much I am in love with this series and am desperately itching for more. Thanos is up next and knowing the pain and depression that this formidable Vampire is currently going through I cannot wait to see how his story is going to evolve while still keeping up with all the others. The fact that the life and demeanour of a vampire directly affects their sire and Eton’s pain is so vividly reflected throughout this story just pulls me into Thanos’s story even more. Will the prophecies come true or will Vasilios, Diomedes and Eton keep their family from an untimely and unwarranted demise?

“And you are far too interesting to hide away in a room full of darkness and shadows.”

Bring it on, as quick as possible please!

Book 2 of 3 in the Masters Among Monsters. More questions are being answered from book 1,but more questions are also arising. While the title is about Isa, the book content I would have to say was more weighted to Leo's story. I am excited for the setup of Thanks story and hope to get more scenes with Isa in the next one.

    ***5 Give Me More’ Stars***

    Audiobook review

With Thanos, the third and final book of the Masters Among Monsters series, about to be released into the world I knew I had to get my ass caught up and since my reading schedule has gotten a tinsy bit out of hand I knew the only way to get it done was via Audiobook and holy hell what a way to go!

Isadora starts off right where Alasdair ends and we get to not only get to know all about Isadora’s past, but Diomêdês and Elias’ as well along with just what the hell Elias (and Leo and Paris) is. I loved Isadora. Talk about a strong female who follows her heart, even though she technically doesn’t have one. I loved her strength as well as how honest she was with herself about what she wanted. I have mixed feelings about Elias, but I must give him props for his convictions and his balls to the wall approach to dealing with the vampires and his imminent death. But of the three, Diomêdês was the one who truly captured my heart. Yes, he is vicious and will dole out brutal punishments when called for, but like Isadora, he has a heart even if the one in his chest no longer beats. The way he sees Isadora and truly values her for who she is was truly beautiful.

And though this book delves into Isadora’s past and her loves, that doesn’t mean that Alasdair, Leo and Vasilios are pushed to the wayside. In fact we get a good dose of this threesome and it’s intense in every way possible (B.O.B & or cold as hell bath needed) as they navigate their fledgling relationship. I’m having a difficult time deciding who my favorite of the three are because they are all just so compelling in their own ways, so I’ll pick them all. And then we come to Eton, Thanos and Paris. Where we leave them at the end of the book broke my heart and I can’t wait to see how things will work out with them and makes me very happy that I didn’t read Isadora when it first came out because I’d be one unhappy camper knowing I couldn’t just pick up the next book as soon as this one ended.

With Thanos about to be released into the world, I’m all at once thrilled to see how everything comes to a close, but sad because I don’t want it to end. Ms. Frank has done a beautiful job at creating such brutal and beautifully flawed characters in such a dark and yet vibrant world that I really don’t want to say goodbye, but all good things must come to an end and I can’t wait to see what is instore for all of us!

    The narrator: Lucy Parker

No matter how amazing a book is, the audiobook version of it lives and dies by the narrator, and that is something that is even more true when the narrator is not the same for each book in the series. But here the change works. I adored Lucy Parker’s narration as much as I loved Bruce Cullen’s in Alasdair. She did a wonderful job at giving each character their own distinct voice and made me feel all of the emotions they were dealing with throughout the story. I loved the tone of her voice and the pacing as she read it. I was absolutely captivated the entire time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Engaging continuation.

So lets make it clear that, Leo, Alasdair and Vasilios's story doesn't end at book 1. We get to see them continuing their triad. And it's probably the only reason why I was excited to read this 2nd book.
Considering I came to read a M/M erotic I did not care too much for Isadora (sorry)
But from a wholly plot point of view, I liked it and found it compelling. It was sad and beautiful. And hopefully things will take a happy turn for them although Im finding it difficult to see how.
The main pairing of this book, that's something I wanted to read more of. And was worried we'd not get anything more after the book 1. But this story unravels with multiple POVs and Im happy to inform, our sexy vampire-human pairing get alot of action and storytelling. Along with Isadora and diomedes and Elias.
This book is a good addition to the story but really if you're here to read only about men on men action and maybe the mystery then, you should stop right now.
You will have to bear with some hot f/f action, which may or may not be to your taste.

I really enjoyed Alasdair so was eagerly anticipating Isadora the next book in the series and I was not disappointed. I was particularly excited by the fact that although the main plot revolves around Isadora, Alasdair is also key to the story. More to the point, the dynamic between Alasdair, his Ancient Vasilios and their human Leo is explored further in the context of the story, which was brilliant. Every single character in these books is interesting, compelling and utterly enthralling. They are extremely individual and each one holds a special and singular appeal. The way they all connect and the underlying power struggle between the perceived good/evil is cleverly devised and ultimately underpins the entire story. I can't wait for book 3, Thanos, as I already know it's not just going to be about him but the cast of characters and their combined fates and how Ella Frank interweaves them all together. Vampires, Demigods, Humans, Love, Sex, Wit and Intrigue - loved this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS!!!!! OMG!!!!! So much......
Reviewed in Germany on January 12, 2016
THIS!!!!! OMG!!!!! So much love, so much devotion, so much trust, so much loyalty, so much heartbreak, so much hotness!!!!
And this ending? NO NO NO!!!! Bad cliffhanger! Where Alasdair had a hot teasing one, this broke my heart. I hope it's not happening...it can't!

Isadora continues where we have been left hanging in Alasdair. We get to know the story of Isadora and Elias and their very obvious chemistry. PHEW! We also learn more about the mystery that are Leo, Elias and Paris. But even with questions answered, some things are still in dark.
We also get to know the back story between Isadora and her sire Diomêdês. It's a story that will break your heart. It will leave you speechless. With the amazing writing skill of Ella Frank, the way she is able to describe things so vividly, it will make you cringe and on the other make your blood boil with rage. Their story is different then Alasdair's and Vasilios'...it's so much deeper than just physical attraction. It's about deep love and devotion and loyalty and protection.
We've heard before that Isadora is loving men and women. So be prepared for some very sensual f/f action that leaves you breatheless (even if f/f isn't your thing).

Next to Isadora's story and the whole thrilling story, of course we also get to see how Leo, Alasdair and Vasilios are doing. And DAMN are they DOING IT! Wet panties included!

And let's not forget the third cousin...Thanos. *weeping* If you remember the thing that happened to him in Alasdair and the things we learn in Isadora, you know that his book will break your heart in a different way. Throw in Eton and Paris and THAT END and it's going to have me in a puddle of emotions for sure. I better already order a huge box of tissues!

Ella Frank continues her amazing series writing. Everything connects again from Alasdair. All the things I praised her for in Alasdair (see review here http://www.amazon.de/review/R1OIQR95EEYYLB/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0122DD7HU&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=530484031&store=digital-text) is also true for Isadora.
Ella Frank has the gift to draw you right in again into the story. All the feelings and storylines come right back to you and captivate you again. I really can't believe how truly amazing and talented she is and the way her writing leaves me speechless time and time again.
