Delightful Story That Gets Better With Each Read!
UPDATE: I'm adding a star to my rating of this wonderful book! I'm including it in a list of recommendations for another website. In doing so, I have re-read the book a few more times. I've noticed that each time I read it, the more I like it. Also, this really is a book meant to read aloud. (As most rhyming books are...) Cindi Handley Goodeaux has written a fun rhyming story about the assumptions we make about others — and how those assumptions are often based on bad information. Of course, kids will just enjoy a very humorous story about a monster who fears “hue-mans” and a boy who fears monsters. Once they meet and talk, they both learn that everything they were told about the other was not true. Kids will also enjoy Jack Foster’s colorful illustrations. Highly recommended.

I thought this concept was lovely, and my 2 year old has already asked to read it about 10 times in 2 days! The words are lyrical and and fun, and the concept of two children (albeit of different species) being afraid of their differences and ultimately find friendship and common interests and feelings is not lost on me. It’s a very sweet story with an important message!

This was a fun and well-written story that addresses the characters' fears at night. More importantly, it expresses a beautiful message, "Even when beings don’t look quite the same, friendship is something that any can claim!" That teaches our young ones to disregard who/what/where a person is from, and judge them for their character. Well done!

This is a cute story about being not afraid. It reminds me of the movie Monsters Inc. It shows kids that things that they're afraid of are often not scary. It also encourages kids to get to know others to break down barriers or fears. Cute sweet story.

A classic children's monster story. The words used are big and round and nice to say. The artwork is so pleasing to the eye with lots of blues and greens. All the characters in the book have common references to bedtime, nighttime fears, food, which are easy to understand and identify with. There are a few awkward paragraphs, but, nothing a child would notice. I'd like to hear more stories from Ishkabibble! I'm looking forward to purchasing this in paperback to send to family packs with kids :D

Children will learn to overcome fear. This is a cute rhyming story that will give cheer and encouragement. It also teaches children that they need to learn the truth. Sometimes people tell us things that we believe and we need to find out more.
