- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2020Overall, J.C. Carter's "Undeniable" was a sweet, fast-paced read featuring relatively likeable characters, and I think there are plenty of YA/NA fans who will enjoy it. Unfortunately, the book was not a very good match for me. There were too many inconsistencies and things that didn't make sense, though to be fair, I read an ARC and some of these things could have been revised prior to publication.
My biggest issue with the book is the fact that the female lead, Anna, didn't ask more questions about her best friend Spencer's scheme before agreeing to go along with it. It seems pretty obvious to me that Anna should have heard about the "rule" that Spencer's older brother Blake had to be dating someone before Spencer was allowed to date long ago if it actually existed. Besides that, why didn't she ask why it was necessary to trick Blake along with Spencer's father rather than bringing him in on the scheme?
Aside from that, there were a number of story details that I found confusing. For example, early in the book it was mentioned that Blake lived in the dorms, but for some reason he was always at Spencer's dad's house anyway. Later on, he moves out to live with a friend from work and eventually enrolls in culinary school (after randomly developing an interest in baking 85% of the way through the book). Was Blake ever actually in college or living anywhere besides Spencer's dad's house? Speaking of Spencer's dad's house, why was Anna allowed to randomly hang out there whether Spencer was home or not? They even left Anna there alone when they went grocery shopping at one point. I know they're best friends, but it still seemed weird to me.
At any rate, even though this book wasn't a great match for me, I'm sure there are plenty of YA/NA fans out there who will enjoy it. I would pick up another one of J.C. Carter's books in the future, provided the characters were a bit closer to my own age. ;-)

- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2020Undeniable is a sweet best friends brother romance. I loved this one. You feel the pull between Anna and Blake from the start. I loved watching Anna and Blake grow so much closer as they come clean about their feelings. Both have had a crush on the other and it just took a few pushes to get them to act. Anna and Blake are so sweet together. This was a quick read for me but it didn't hold back in the love, the heart ache and the everything in between. I couldn't put this one down.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2020Definitely a page turner!! It kept me wanting to know what was gonna happen and I just love HEA!! Such an amazing author!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2020I’ve always loved romance stories involving best friends older brothers. Maybe because that is how my husband and mine’s love story began. So after reading the book description of ‘Undeniable’ I knew this was a book that I’d wanted to read.
In ‘Undeniable’ we get a little twist on the ‘best friends older brothers’ romance. This time around Anna’s best friend encourages her to date her older brother. I must say I enjoyed that spin a lot. I don’t have any brothers or sisters and I never understood why it would be such a problem if your best friend in the world starts dating your brother/sister. Seems to me your favorite two people dating would be fun. But maybe that’s the only child in me talking. LOL!
Anyhow, ‘Undeniable’ is a sweet and fun story. Anna is still in High School and Blake is in college, so these main characters where a little younger than my usual book characters. But although I definitely prefer reading about ‘older’ characters Anna and Blake where fun to get to know and I really enjoyed their romance.
Blake is definitely your perfect college guy. Funny, handsome, kind and totally into Anna right from the start. Anna was a little confused at times, which frustrated me a little but not to much to get annoying.
Overall I thing ‘Undeniable’ was a very sweet romance story in which both characters definitely grew a lot.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2020This story is a twist on best friend’s older brother as rather than Anna’s best friend Spencer trying to come between them, she is encouraging Anna to date Blake as a favor to her. Anna is in her final year of high school and she had a crush on Blake in the past, but she believes that is over until she starts spending time with him.
Blake is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy and has been attracted to Anna for a while, but he kept his feelings private until Anna approached him. As they spend time together the chemistry between them ignites but will the truth of how their relationship started destroy what they could have together?
I enjoyed seeing how they faced the emotional outfall when truths are revealed as although it was difficult at the time it only made their relationship that much stronger in the end.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2020Anna is Blake’s sisters best friend. They come into a relationship in a roundabout way. Blake is all in Anna is confused and in all honesty annoying. I wanted to reach into the and shake her a few times. I enjoyed The flow of the book. The book was well written and enjoyable. It was my first time reading a book by this author and I would definitely read another one.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2020This is the first book by J.C. Carter that I’ve read. As soon a I reas the blurb it’s immediately caught my attention. Brother’s best friend but done a little differently sounded so good. I really, really wanted to love this book, but it was just ok. I’m not sure if it was due to the writing style but it fell a little flat for me.
Anna’s best friend Spencer gets Anna to ask out her brother Blake, in order for her to be able to date as well. Anna was an okay character. I didn’t connect with her. Blake was a cutie. It was a sweet story, so maybe it was just me. I didn’t really care for Blake’s sister Spencer.
