    It was cute and sweet with some teenage angst in between. There was some good relationship drama all around. The characters were pretty well rounded.

    The only thing that I would have liked more of... would have been Conner’s relationship with his team mates... a little more of the basketball aspect in this love and basketball romance. Especially his college basketball career. Once again, I’m finding that I like romance alright... but it’s not my bread and butter. I like a little more in my books to give it that last little bit of oomph.

    But, with that said, this I was a really good book read that wasn’t filled with too much angst, not enough to give me anxiety. So this was a good read for between more dramatic books.

    First and Forever is one of those books you want to read without interruption, without stopping, because you need to know what's going to happen, how it's all going to end. It's a book you want to savor, because as much as you want to get to the end, you never really want it to end. That is how I spent my day with this book.

    Why do the best books have to end?!? Ugh, I so badly wanted to stay in Connor and Ava’s world. Ms. McLean had me so wrapped up in them, so invested in their lives, making it sooo hard to let go! First and Forever was everything- beautiful, heart wrenching, breathtaking, tear-inducing. It was a story that filled my heart so full I thought it would burst. F&F was everything, and gave us everything we could have asked for, could have wanted, for Ava and Connor. I adored how this story played out- it wasn’t easy, it was downright hard at times, but Connor and Ava faced all that was thrown at them with such strength, even when it all seemed to be too much.

    McLean created such wonderful characters -I loved the relationships that were built, not just between Connor and Ava, but between Connor & Trevor, and (especially) between Connor & Mama Jo, even between Ava & Connor’s dad.
    The Heartache duet was such an emotional journey, one I’m so glad I got to go on.

    I just have to give an extra-special shout-out to Connor. As I said in one of my updates, Connor is the sweetest, most cutest (yes it’s a thing!), most precious young man, ever. And he just got better as the story went on. He puts his whole heart into everything he does, and you couldn’t ask for more than that. Now if only I could find me my own Connor, just a little older…

    I am so overwhelmed with emotions. This duet is one of the best times I have had reading in a long time. I did not want to place my reader down, because I was on an emotional rollercoaster of a ride that I did not want to stop. I cried, I laughed I wanted to throat punch both Ava and Connor, but then you have to remember that they both are teenagers and learning about life and love as they grown. However, teven though they were beautifully written, so accurately described and I fell in love with them, however, Ava's mom is my absolute favorite character in this incredible tale of young love. I have a deep admiration for Veterans and fell in head-over-feet in love with her over and over again. Her spunk and humor is extraordinary and unforgettable. I will never forget this book. She touched my heart in so many amazing different ways. ❤️

    Jay knows how to bring the realistic scenarios to life in a book, they are so incredibly detailed and I felt like I was there witnessing all events as they occurred.

    I highly recommend this duet and all of Jay's writings. She is one hell of a storyteller and you will not be disappointed.

    An amazing conclusion to the new duet from jay McLean.

    As with the 1st book I was hooked from the very 1st word. Jay is 1 of just a few authors I one click, this woman could write a new phone book and I'd read it, just for her words. After a break from writing shes back, and better than ever! 2 of my 3 favourite ever books are jay books. Her words, her story telling, her way of making you fall in love with the characters are next level.

    The references to the Preston family warms my heart and makes me hopeful for more Preston punk books.

    Whether this is your 1st jay book, or you've read the whole lot, settle your self in your favourite reading place and be prepared to stay there till this book is finished. Once you start reading, that's it, you're in and that's where you stay till the very end

    Another amazing read by Jay McLean. Well written with so much depth. A lot of love, magic, heartbreak and angst but a wonderful happy ending. Maybe a little too much repeated heartbreak and angst at times making similar mistakes keeping secrets but I understand the MC’s are young and had a lot going on.

    The characters were so multi-dimensional with many layers that just won you over. They were endearing, engaging, fun and so admirable. It was heartbreaking seeing these amazing people Ava, Trevor, Mama Diaz and Connor treated so badly especially Mama Diaz.

    Ava was so strong and loving. She coped with so much and she absolutely deserved someone as wonderful, loyal and loving as Connor. I just loved his relationship with Mama Diaz. Trevor, Ava’s Brother was a truly outstanding human being, putting his life on hold and struggling to earn everything he could to take of his step mum and sister.

    Fantastic read.
