Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

Woah buddy. This story is not for the faint of heart or the queasy stomach! It’s a hard to read story, full of angst, full of hatred, and full of sadness. Don’t fret, there is a light at the end of the tunnel but it is only a pin hole of light for a good majority of the story.

This was a good story but a hard read. It took longer than I planned to read the story, partly because the nature of the story, partly because I had to convince myself to come back to read more. I was torn during the first half of the story. It was written well, had great detail, and was very realistic. That being said, the nature of the book was a lot darker than I normally read.

That being said, the second half the story is much brighter, has a lighter feel, and starts to exude some happiness and sunshine. You feel the love and actions are heartfelt. It almost drips happiness. I feel like I need to mention that it does end with a HEA. This is for those that need that in a story and might shy away from my paragraph above.

Details and descriptions were very well written. Sometimes it felt a little too realistic but I think it was absolutely necessary to get the correct feel across to the readers. It needed to be real and it needed to be over detailed. I think had it not been, it wouldn’t have stressed the importance of the scenes. So while it might have been a little too much at the time, when I look back at the story as a whole, I applaud the author and think she did a phenomenal job.

I do absolutely suggest reading this story. I also suggest once you finish reading it, give yourself a few hours, days, weeks, whatever it takes, to reflect back on the story, and the work the author put into writing it. I think by doing that you will appreciate the story and the work that it took to write it.

    * A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

Such a book that literally knocked me on my a**. Our beautiful but severely emotionally damaged Jackson had such a traumatic past and haunted over his love for one he should of had.

Enter into his life the beautiful Summer - with a name like that she can bring some light into the haunting darkness around Jackson.

This book will haunt you and devour your soul. I couldn't stop reading. I didn't even sleep more 2 hours because I had to see where this story went.

I cried and at one point just put it down because of how emotional I felt. But like I said I couldn't not finish their story. It needed to be heard.

This is definitely one of my favorite books of all time.

How much torment and pain from abuse can one person take? When it comes from the one man who is supposed to love and care for you the most, it can be devastating. In the struggle to keep moving Jackson had built many walls and used many methods to cope. It was unhealthy and unsafe. When he finds himself in love with his deceased best friends wife he feels he needs to leave and get himself straightened out. Then maybe he can let her know his true feelings.

Summer is still struggling with the loss of her cheating dead husband. Trying to figure out what to do with her life now. A visit across the country to see Jackson turns out to be life changing in so many ways. Learning of Jackson's secrets and vowing to help him overcome.

We get to watch these two come together through the emotionally charged story. Loss, heartache and pain can turn to hope, strength and love if you find the right person. It is anything but a smooth easy ride but in the end every bit is worth it.

It took a little bit to build up but once Ms Podger had me hooked, I struggled to put it down. The secondary characters are very strong and help to make the book what it is. I love that even though the topic matter of the book is quiet heavy, there is plenty of banter to keep you giggling and smiling from time to time between sadness.

Jackson has suffered many of years of verbal abuse from his father. Which has carried over into a adulthood. He has a few secrets he hides from his best friend Summer. If these secrets come out how will that affect their friendship.

Summer is mourning the loss of her husband. She leans on her best friend Jackson for support.

Jackson is an incredible story. It shows how two broken individuals can overcome such hardships. It takes hard work, friendship and love. It is such a touching story.

My favorite quote is "Pain is good .... if something beautiful comes out of it!!!"

The blurb made me worried about how dark this would be. The book was perfect! I fell in love with all the characters and wanted a HEA, I won't tell you the answer to that as it could be a spoiler. Buy it!

Well what a read this was!! I absolutely loved it. Whatever this author seems to write she always manages to keep things real. For some it could be uncomfortable in places but not me, I love the true emotions I felt whilst reading this, I loved the angst, suspence, heartache, sadness, hope, joy, relief and happiness I had all the feels whilst reading Jackson!

This a journey not to be missed, Jackson is a fantastic character with a very troubled yet private life, so private even his best friend Summer didn't realise how troubled he was. What will happen when she finds out the true extent of his troubles?

You must read this fantastic story I assure you, you won't be disappointed. I have to say it's one of my favourite reads of this year! I would also love to read more about the other characters in this book, I'm very intrigued on what their stories are!!( Please?) This is one author I won't hesitate to one click!

Oh my this book packed a punch it was very raw full of emotion and dark in places and I loved it, Tracie does not hold back at all it might not be for everybody but it’s sadly very real for some people.
Jackson had a terrible childhood of abuse and has been dealing with it the only way he knows how to and that is mostly portrayed in 50% of the book it’s not easy to read at times but Tracie does an excellent job with this and poor Summer has no clue how to help it’s very emotional you feel her sadness and frustration because she loves him, this book was really good and will stay in my mind for a while.

4.0 out of 5 stars ” Summer was married to Jason’s best friend who has died

It was very difficult to do anything else except read this book today.

    Jason
    Summer

I was totally drawn to Jason for all kinds of reasons. His gentleness but his inner demons surfacing to where he may need the continued help of Dexter.

    “Dexter, I’ve done it again”
    “Do you need help?”

Summer was married to Jason’s best friend who has died. Since then, she’s been revealed a secret.
    Devastating news.

Jason has always been there for Summer.

Jason loves Summer but he has secrets from her, dark secrets.

As the author reveals them bit by bit like taking off a plaster/band aide that’s been stuck to your body for ages and each pull stings and hurts you more, that’s how I was feeling as I got to know and understand Jasons dark side.

He seemed at times very dark, bit scary yet I knew deep down there were things in his past relating to this.

It’s definitely an over 18 book because of the graphic details the author goes into on several matters.

A first book I’ve read by this author that took my attention via the blurb.
My curiosity won out. Very good well written deep read.

Jackson's friend was no friend because he new Jackson wanted Summer from the first time he saw her. I think he never really loved, he only pursued and married her just to make sure Jackson couldn't have her. Jackson went through so much verbal and emotional abuse from his terrible dad, it's so heart breaking to read this story and the worst part is that people do go through things like this in real life. This story is sad, painfully emotional but also beautiful.
