    Emmie Rue followed her best friend back to the Bayou for some summer fun and with hopes of finally laying to rest the one conquest that she never was ever to settle in her heart. Jax Declan. Older by a few years, and the quiet reserved brother of the Declan 3. Emmie had a crush on him for years but he never fell for her advances, but she was determined to find him, make him fall, and walk away.
    Easier said than done!
    Jax Declan took life as it came and when he was forced to grow up and take care of his brothers, that also meant putting what he wanted most on hold. That included not showing his feelings for Emmie. So her showing up in town turns things upside down and they both have to decide where to go from here.

    The heat. The emotion. The connection between Jax & Emmie was slow building but had been building for a long time. Jax definitely knew how to take it slow and I enjoyed every moment of his slow seduction, especially since Emmie believed she was going to win Jax over first.

    There were lessons to be learned on both sides and surprises that were not let out until just the right time. The brothers and friends added to the momentum of the story and kept the two on track.

    This story was definitely a great start to the series and Jax & Emmie will be a HOT act to follow for the remaining brothers!

    The blurb of this book made me one-click it as soon as it went live, and then I couldn't wait to dive into it and see what this story was all about!

    Jax is an amazing, fast paced, hot read that I was not able to put down! We meet Emmie Rue, and her two friends head back to Texas for the summer after being gone for a few years. They had all their sites on breaking the Declan brothers, but when Emmie Rue and Jax meet up, she's afraid that he may be the one breaking her by the time summer is over.

    Emmie Rue has had a crush on Jax since high school, she wasn't expecting him to still be single, and to have gotten hotter when she came back, but he's single, and definitely hot. The attraction between the two is still there, and even though Emmie Rue has always wanted Jax, she never knew that he felt the same about her, but was waiting till she was old enough to start something with him.

    I loved the banter and back and forth between these two, the anticipation of these two finally getting together had me on the edge of my seat, I knew it would be hot, but wow.. it was HOT! I loved watching Jax trying to scare Emmie Rue away, and Emmie Rue never backing down.

    Watching their relationship progress over the summer, and learning of Jax's past demons, was a beautiful read. I enjoyed every single part of Emmie Rue and Jax's story. The chemistry between the two of them is hot and Jax will have your heart beating so fast with some of the things he says.

    Kelly Gendron did an amazing job with this book, the writing flows, the characters are easy to love and easy to hate, and you can definitely feel the pain and love these characters have. Seeing how much Jax's character changed during this story was beautiful, and as much as I didn't want to like him at first, I ended up falling in love with his character.

    If you're looking for a quick, hot read, definitely pick up Jax. I devoured this book in one sitting, and can't wait for Slate's book, I have a feeling it is going to be amazing.
