Naughty & Nice (Love Notes Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,029 ratings

Why can't I forget your kiss...

Dear Quinn,
Why must I have these feelings for you? You're my ex-stepbrother, and nothing will change that truth, no matter how many letters I write.

I never expected to see you again--or to rescue you from the side of the road in a blizzard. I didn't think you would ever like me, much less kiss me in a steaming hot tub on a snowy night. It seems we make better lovers than brothers, which is all kinds of naughty and nice while we're snowed in together.

But can this new intimacy last when the skies clear and my family finally arrives for the holidays, or are we just two guys in a mountain cabin with a great view of everything we want but can't have?

Hopelessly yours,
Jonas

    Four and a half stars

Naughty & Nice is the second in DJ Jamison’s Love Notes series but stands alone well. Quinn and Jonas were step-brothers for a time, but their parents have since divorced. Jonas’s dad has continued to welcome Quinn, vowing to provide the support and love he feels absent from his life. When Jonas and Quinn end up snowed in at the family cabin before Christmas, they’re able to acknowledge their true feelings for each other and take stock of what direction they actually want their lives to head.

DJ Jamison’s story stands well alone, and Quinn and Jonas are appealing leads. A terrific feel-good holiday read!

Just like all of DJ's books, what's not to love? The humor, the fall, the total cuteness of the guys. Jonas and Quinn were just way too cute. Jonas with his adorable golden retriever vibes and Quinn blossoming because of it. My only issue is, trying to decide which book she's put out is my favorite lol

This really had everything I wanted in a holiday romance: great characters, great personal growth for all characters, a well-paced plot, good dialogue, spicy scenes, plenty of romantic moments, and enough holiday cheer to make you warm in winter!

Quinn can’t forget the sweet kiss his ex-stepbrother Jonas gave him years before, as they lay beneath the Christmas tree gazing upward through its branches, after pouring out to Jonas the sadness that consumed him over missing his late father. Years later, Jonas can’t forget that kiss either, and he struggles with the memories and feelings he’d always had, and repressed, for Quinn. So when they get thrown together unexpectedly, snowbound in Jonas’s family’s mountain cabin in Colorado, they have no choice but to confront their past. This was an amazing read… Jonas was a secondary character in SECRET ADMIRER and seemed like a bit of a player, but here you get to know him full on as a much deeper and caring guy. I enjoyed how the story unfolded, as the forced proximity imposed upon them by the situation brings the story forward at a good pace, and snarky Quinn with his insecurities and Jonas with his quiet assurance and flirty ways complement each other well. The heat level here is off the charts, and the feels are not lacking, either. Ace and Benji from SECRET ADMIRER make an appearance, which is fun, and NAUGHTY & NICE ended up being just what I wanted under my tree this year. Highly recommended!

Jonas has a mad, unrequited crush on his step-brother Quinn when they were teens, but Quinn was too angry and grief-stricken to even notice. With their parents now divorced afterwards brief marriage, Jonas hasn’t seen Quinn in four years, though his crush remains as strong as even. Stranded together in Jonas’ family cabin for the holidays, Jonas finally gets a shot.
Told in dual POV, this was a very sweet Christmas story, but I struggled a bit with the character of Quinn. He’s a bit lost, definitely struggling, and he just never quite clicked for me. Jonas’ devotion to him just didn’t quite make sense. But this is a small quibble!

Second chance, close proximity, hurt/comfort, and sort-of-enemies to definitely-lovers

Unrequited love for his (former, momentary) step-brother, Quinn, has haunted Jonas for years. Quinn is fresh out of an abusive relationship and looking to lay low while he licks his wounds and overcomes some bad choices. They wind up snowed in at the family cabin right before Christmas, working through past heartaches with each other and discovering new hopes for the future.

It's good to see Jonas again and learn his story. Briefly Ace's rival for Benji's affections in Secret Admirer, we now learn what's been driving Jonas' player behavior for the past few years. And we meet Quinn, who is looking for a bit of redemption and is needing some TLC after a rough few years.

The only thing I felt I was missing was a little more exploration of the connection between Jonas and Quinn when they were young. The prologue shows us one interaction that sets the stage for Jonas' unrequited love, and there are references back to how deeply he'd cared for Quinn, but I felt like I had to just take it on faith that his love was strong enough to still burn brightly all these years later.

Still, their story is sweet and a long time coming. Great sequel to Secret Admirer, but can be read as a standalone!

Jonas and Quinn are so sweet! I love this ex- stepbrothers with secret crushes, second chance and forced proximity storyline. This is such a perfect Christmas story that I just love. I give this 5+ stars. Jonas and Quinn meet as step brothers but don't get along with each other but not for the reasons each other thinks. Eventually their parents divorce and they meet again as ex step brothers but this time they feel something for each other. Trapped in a cabin they give in to desire. I loved that Jonas put his feelings for Quinn in letters. He really was a big softie. Once they get through all their miscommunications they earn their HEA. I didn't like Quinn's ex Clay and was glad he left him. This book has an epilogue which helps round out the book. I recommend this book if you're looking for something short and sweet for the holidays.

The 2 MCs are college students but even though they are young it didn't have a YA feel. The writing is like any other mature couple which I appreciated.

It has a 2nd chance feel to it. They had one kiss years ago and then they never spoke of it for years even though they both still had it bad for each other. I love this trope and this did not disappoint.

It also has that slight taboo/off limits feel. At the time of the first kiss they were step brothers living together. Now their parents are divorced but still stay in touch so there's that secretcy and wondering what will they think. It added a little suspense/slight drama/slight angst to the story. Though it's still a very low angst read.

It is a holiday book in the sense that they are on Xmas break from school and there's a Christmas tree but it's a low key Christmas book. So even though this is releasing in Jan and some like myself may be over Xmas, you would still ver much enjoy this. It's just that melt your heart sweetness that is perfect regardless of the time. For the most part the story focuses on the 2 MCs thinking they are going to a family gathering only to end up being stuck in a cabin just the 2 of them for a week due to a blizzard and all that comes along with being stuck alone with the one you secretly still love.

Both characters were so sweet. I loved them both and they had great chemistry together. This is a story I couldn't stop listening to. I loved the plot. It drew me in from start to finish. It's light, heartwarmingly sweet with some low heat. Great writing. I loved it and would definitely recommend the story.

As for the narration, for me it was just ok. 3.5 stars. His voice was pleasant enough and kept good pace. His tone/age suited the fact that the characters are college students. What I didn't like was that the voices weren't noticeablly different. Also, he definitely wasn't monotone but he didn't express the emotions as well as other narrators I've heard before.

Note: There is also a freebie called Going the Distance and it's great too. A little extra about these 2 guys on Prolific Works.

This was a great read. I enjoy the step-brother trope, and add in a little Christmas magic and you have a fun, sweet, and heartwarming read. Quinn and Jonah were perfect for each other, and the chemistry between them was scorching. The love notes theme for this series is unique and fun. I also loved seeing a little of Ace and Benji from the first book too. A great addition to the series, and one I'd recommend.

A beautiful story following Jonas & Quinn who had been step brothers for two years in the past who had shared a kiss under a Xmas tree. Fast forward five years & Quinn is recovering from some bad choices & asks his ex step father if he can stay in his Colorado cabin to sort his life out & Jonas who has secretly been writing love letters to Jonas arrives early at his fathers cabin. What comes after is a wonderful romantic love story of two people who just need to tell each other that they love each other. Really beautiful Xx

I loved this book! After meeting Jonas in Secret Admirer, I'd never believe how sweet and caring he could be if given the opportunity. I enjoyed a lot witnessing how he helped Quinn to overcame insecurities, finding each other during the process. A captivating plot, new amazing characters, the redemption of old ones, some familiar faces and a lot of heartwarming moments, romance and hot scenes, contributed to make this book as good as the previous one and perfect for this season. A cute and endearing Holiday Romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Christmas read.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 23, 2020
I quite enjoyed this book, I liked the dual POVs, I always like to see inside the heads of the MCs, makes it easier to understand their motives.

Initially, I had a little bit of trouble connecting with Quinn, he came off as a bit flat, but as the story played out, his character grew and developed, and I found that I began to admire him. He'd gotten himself into the mire, and was working hard to find away out. Jonas, on the other hand, was a joy to read from the word go.

It's a fairly low angst book, with lots of snow and Christmas feels. A really cute epilogue. Overall, a nice seasonal read. 3 1/2 stars.
