Just About Over You (Prospect Street Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 527 ratings

What’s the worst thing you could hear your best friend, who you’ve always secretly been in love with, say? That would be telling another girl he could envision her being his wife.

I just about died when Gannon Raferty, the boy who used to borrow my pencils in elementary school, said that to the lead of the reality dating show he was cast on. Though he didn’t win her heart, he’s now a bona fide sensation when he returns to our college and moves back into the off-campus house we share.

The torch I carry for him has always been one-sided; I’m head-over-heels, soulmate-level into him while he views me as a lovable kid sister. So I decide this school year will be the one where I move on, where I finally attempt to open my heart to another. After all, if he can make declarations of undying love to someone he just met, but not to me, that’s the biggest wake-up call I could ever receive.

Until one night early on in the semester, when we accidentally sleep together. Because of course he’s going to confess his feelings now, when I was ready to give up on there ever being an us.

But just as Gannon starts admitting exactly what I’ve always wanted to hear, I get devastating news. And suddenly, I don’t want to risk losing him as a best friend. I’ve already lost too many people I love, and am on the brink of adding one more to that list.

If our romance goes south, I don’t how I’ll ever come back from it. Not only the crushing heartbreak, but the fact that we can never go back to how we were again.

This is the sweetest and at times saddest story that ends with the best well I'm not gonna spoil anything, but I absolutely loved Gannon and Amelie. Friends forever, honest always except about one thing how they truly feel for one another. But life is messy and these two can't seem to have a conversation without making things even messier. There are so many things for them to unpack that I can't imagine the weight of their bags. But things get put on hold when family happens and Ams needs her best friend, can Gannon step back and step up? Grab your copy catch up with the whole Talcott gang. Can’t put this series down. I need book three, especially when it seems like there was some hinting toward Bevan’s status?

I really liked the first book in this series but this one fell flat for me. I didn't care for Gannon at all. I really wanted to like him but he never redeemed himself fully. He is a very selfish person and I didn't like how he kept Amelie on line all those years. I know they were best friends but he also knew she had feelings for him and never said anything. I had a hard time connecting with the h and H and all the angst didn't help.

Just About Over You is the second book in Carrie Aarons Prospect Street series. This story, written in dual POV, centers around Gannon and Amelie- who have been best friends since they were 10 years old- only it there were more than just friendship feelings for Amelie. But after Gannon declares love to another woman on a reality tv dating show, Amelie is ready to move on from her unrequited love once and for all.

This book can certainly stand alone on its own, Carrie does a wonderful job of putting all the little backstory pieces from the first book into this one. But there is also the component of personally wanting to know the story, as well as the components of the secondary characters personalities and whatnot from the beginning- so I do recommend also reading Then You Saw Me.

I was really excited for what was to come of Amelie and Gannon- I felt like it's been forever since I read that little teaser at the end of book 1, when Gannon first returns to Prospect Street- but it hasn't been that long I'm just impatient. It's a tale as old as time, guy and girl best friends only one of them secretly wants more. But there is so much more happening in this book. Like the first book, it is filled with drama and angst that pulls at your heart and nips at your emotions. I thought I knew what I was getting into with this book but the depth and layers to both Gannon and Amelie was more than I was expecting.

Amelie was always so quiet and sweet- fitting perfectly into her career choice of librarian. It was the strength and fire in her that I loved- finally sticking up for herself, especially against Gannon. I honestly didn't think I was going to like his character as much as I did. Yes, he is cocky and craves attention and validation from other people- but digging deeper into who he was, it all clicked and put more definition into the once broad strokes of Gannon's character. These two click on all levels and are 100% soulmate material- the friendship is cuts to the core and has this easiness to it, even their bickering speaks of deep roots and genuine affection- but they truly light up the pages with their sexual chemistry.

In Then You Saw Me, I fell in love with the girl tribe of Bev, Taya and Amelie- and that still hasn't changed. They are supportive, loyal but also real with each other. There were moments here and there that I didn't love or were a little off for me, especially when it came to Gannon being open and ready to be in a relationship with Amelie and how he was a little impatient with her processing but again that all falls into the layer of Gannon that I didn't know before. The twists and blows from their past mingling with the ones that are happening now had my heart squeezing in knots and trying to read faster.

I can't wait until the next time I get to go back to Prospect Street- hopefully to get Bev's story!

How much did I love Just About Over You? I read it in a day because I could not put it down. When it comes to Gannon and Amelie's story in the Prospect Street Series, Carrie Aarons perfectly described all of the pain and heartache that goes along with being in love with your best friend.

Gannon and Amelie have both been in love with one another since they met in middle school, but he's forever had her convinced that he just sees her like a little sister, and he believes that with his family background, he's not good enough for her. Their status as best friends was irreparably altered after he went on a reality dating show, leaving Amelie crushed that he "fell in love" with another woman and proposed marriage. She doesn't know that the whole thing was a sham, just a vehicle for Gannon to make strides in taking care of his motley crew of younger siblings. And I have to say, I fell in love with him for being that thoughtful and wanting to create a better life for his family! So when Gannon moves back into their off-campus house, there is a lot of tension between these two as they try to find their footing again and co-exist as roommates.

Then, just when Amelie is finally getting to a place where she feels like she may be able to get over her feelings for Gannon, they have a steamy romp during a house party, and it is explosive! Holy hotness! Gannon is about to confess how he really feels when a family emergency calls Amelie back home. Knowing that he needs to be her best friend, and not complicate matters further, Gannon steps up to be the guy she's always been able to rely on. They rebuild their friendship, but the "the talk" that they need to have is always the elephant in the room between them. And once they finally lay all their cards out on the table, the payoff was so worth the wait!

I highlighted so many passages in Just About Over You. I loved everything about Gannon and Amelie's story: the tension, the heartache, the pain, the frustration, the angst. And I LOVED the tie-in to CA's Rogue series of British soccer players! Took me a minute to make the connection, but once I did, I was all smiles!

    Well done!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

I love this author and everything she writes.
I enjoyed the story, but felt it could have worked better as a novella, because it felt the story was pretty clear since the beginning.

    I can’t wait for B and Callum’s story!

Amelie has been in love with Gannon since she first met him but has hidden her feelings. Gannon has loved Amelie since her first saw her. Their friendship has been the corner stone of each other's lives but each has been frightened of not having the feelings returned. Due to Gannon's childhood, he feels that he isn't worthy of her but revels in the relationship they have. When Gannon returns from being in a reality show, the feelings come to a head and their relationship changes. Can they survive the chemistry between them? When real life intrudes, will the heart break destroy their fledgling relationship or will they build a stronger bond? This was yet another amazing read from Carrie
