“Come and honour the Oak King.”

The countdown to the company solstice picnic is one of Shawn’s favourite times of the year. The scents of sage, mint, basil, sunflower, and lavender fill the air as the workshop mixes up the final batch of Litha, their solstice soap. It’s celebration time! This year, Shawn has an extra spring in his step, and it’s all for the new buyer, Tim. Shawn’s fine having a crush on the gorgeous new straight guy. Until he isn’t.

As the clock ticks down to Picnic-Day, Shawn’s confidence and Tim’s sexuality become mired in doubt and second guesses. It’s a minefield of embarrassed glances and missed opportunities. Seems like they’ll never get together…

To cap it all, Shawn’s drawn Tim in the secret solstice gifting. What to get for the quiet man who turns Shawn’s legs to jelly and has the best underwear hanging from the washing line in his garden? And will that tempting rainbow of colour be forever seared onto Shawn’s brain?

Lillian Francis. Author of gay romance. Happy Endings guaranteed. Eventually.

Lillian Francis is an English writer who likes to dabble in many genres but always seems to return to the here and now.

Her name may imply a grand dame in pink chiffon and lace, but Lillian is more at home in jeans, Converse, and the sort of T-shirts that often need explaining to the populous at large but will get a fist bump at Comic-Con. Lillian is a self-confessed geek who likes nothing more than settling down with a comic or a good book, except maybe writing. Given a notepad, pen, her Kindle, and an infinite supply of chocolate Hob Nobs and she can lose herself for weeks. Romance was never her reading matter of choice, so it came as a great surprise to all concerned, including herself, to discover a romance was exactly what she’d written, and not the rollicking spy adventure or cozy murder mystery she always assumed she’d write. Luckily there is always room for romance no matter what plot bunny chooses to bite her, so never say never to either of those stories appearing.

Lillian lives in an imposing castle on a windswept desolate moor or in an elaborate shack on the edge of a beach somewhere, depending on her mood. And while she’d love for the heroes of her stories to either be chained up in the dungeon or wandering the shack serving drinks in nothing but skimpy barista aprons more often than not they are doing something far less erotic like running charity shops and shoveling elephant shit.

Drawn to the ocean, although not in a Reginald Perrin sort of way, she would love to own a camper van and to live by the sea.

This is a lovely, sweet and funny story. Shawn is adorkable and Tim is very sweet! I was drawn into the entire setting of a soap and candle works. This will definitely be added to my "happy place" list so I can revisit when I need a lift.

Cheers to Lillian Francis, well done!

I absolutely love this author's work. They write short yet complete stories that develop characters & scenes that are highly enjoyable. That's a talent I admire more & more with each title I read through. Shawn & Tim are such a cute couple with this being an equally cute story on how they got together.

I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.
This story was, overall, well written. Shawn and Tim's story was, while filled with misunderstandings, was sweet and ultimately had a happy ending. I enjoyed the (many) embarrassing moments poor Shawn had to go through (who thinks to give someone underwear in front of all of your coworkers??), though Tim had his own awkward moments. The storyline was great, everything flowed well. There were times where I think the author may have gotten a little too descriptive in scenes, i.e. "The back stairs from the workshop led up into the breakroom but they were rarely used. The workshop crew had their own room downstairs and, unless any of the office staff were on the scrounge for samples, only Tim and I ever needed to go down to where the magic happened." This scene seemed a bit confusing and unnecessary for just saying that Shawn had walked away from his desk to get coffee...
In the end I would recommend this book if you are looking for a quick, sweet and funny story.
Oh yeah, I hope that Shawn and Tim get to see the sun set together!

Lovely sweet and funny romance with great characters, Shawn and Tim, who both have crushes on the other. I also really loved the underwear blowing in the wind on the cover :) It sets the mood for the whole story. Shawn has a crush on his coworker, Tim, and keeps imagining him in his underwear. From the awkward moments, the daydreams, and the embarrassing gift giving scene, this was a lovely funny romance that's a quick read. So glad I found this author and her books. I've enjoyed everything that I've read by her so far!

This is a short office crush story. It reminded me of "ferris bueller's Day Off" the way it is written. A lot of daydreaming by the main character.

I gave this a 3star rating because I prefer to know what both the main characters are thinking. This is totally from one point of view. It is well written, and you can totally imagine the setting. I like that this is basically the initiation of a first date. Crush to fist date. Charming.

A fun, quick read. Poor Shawn has a crush on his co-worker and manages to get himself in some uncomfortable situations with his daydreaming about that crush. The story flows well and is witty and often humorous. The only drawback for me was that I would've liked to have known more about the characters, but considering the length of the book and it's premise, it came together very well.

I really enjoyed this story! It had a great build up to the romance, as well as an exciting set of characters which made the story feel realistic and yet still had me caught up in their world. I would love to see how things progressed for the characters past this story, they were really great to read and I smiled the whole way through.

Such a wonderful story. Shawn has a crush on his straight coworker Tim. Tim knows Shawn is watching him and flirts back, badly. These two had me giggling at their miscommunications considering they hardly communicate and it all starts with a line full of rainbow undies...This was a super sweet short story and Im actually excited to see more of this bunch of varied workers so my fingers are crossed in hope that we do.
