I like my science fiction to be less technically driven and more emotionally driven. Karrin is just such a character-driven story. Sahara Foley has written a tale of adventure, love, and survival that transcends the setting of science fiction. The author introduces some weird and wonderful creatures into her world but always underlying everything is the deep love and affection between the characters, despite their many physical and emotional differences. I think I was particularly drawn to this story as it used the notion of panspermia (seeding of life) as one of the basic precepts of the story. I love the idea that perhaps all life in the universe has originally come from some powerful, supreme race that has seeded the galaxies and created many diverse and fascinating life-forms - humanity included. I particularly loved the relationships developed and nurtured in this story, especially between former enemies and also between races seemingly so different yet still capable of feeling powerful and abiding love for each other. I haven't read any of the earlier books in this series but that wasn't necessary. The author was extremely adept at dropping gems of information into the narrative that explained what had gone before and why a character now reacted the way he/she did. This was a wonderful read and one I can highly recommend, not only to all science fiction fans but also to a wider audience. Ultimately it is a beautiful love story that happens to be set among the glories of the universe.

Karrin: Warrior Woman is the fourth book in the Excalibur Saga by Sahara Foley, an enthralling science fiction story with a protagonist that is well-sculpted and multidimensional. Karrin, an eighteen-year-old girl, is abandoned on an alien planet with a weird companion, Brownie, a two-tailed creature she has known during difficult times when she lost Lurga. When she discovers a spaceship, thanks to the help of Brownie, she learns that the contract on her life is still active. But what is worse, the merciless Calen has launched a fleet to kill her. In another world, Karrin is the only one who can save them from imminent destruction. Can she defend herself against an insidious enemy without her psychic powers?I love narratives that are transporting and I love it even more when an author makes me feel that worlds exist when they don't and Sahara Foley is just so good at the game. First, she creates a compelling, multidimensional protagonist and thrusts her into a very harsh world, devoid of her powers. She has to use meager resources to survive and the reader follows her courage and mental state, watching out for what happens to her next. The plot is complex and it moves at a fast pace. The conflict is multifaceted and it helps fuel the tension that moves the story to a satisfying end. There is a lot to enjoy in this book: the great writing, the fascinating narrative voice, and the wonderful characters. An engaging story that kept me reading for hours.

Sahara Foley was born with a lust for the written word. Even at a young age, she could be found with her nose buried in her favorite books. Still, she never had the inclination to pen her own tales.

Then she met her life-partner, Bob. They did everything together, fishing, camping, gardening. They even owned a small farmstead for a while. And they both loved reading. In Bob’s case, he also loved writing. Yes, he was the writer of the family.

Many nights Sahara came home from work and read the latest words he’d written that day. She fell in love with his stories and characters. One year, he made birthday cards from each of the characters from his Excalibur Series.

Sahara convinced Bob to try publishing his stories. But in the late 1980’s, the only way to get a book published was through traditional publishers. Alas, they never heard back from any, so Bob gave up his writing.

After thirty years of being each other’s other half, Bob left this world. Sucked into a void of grief, not knowing how to fill the hole left in her soul, Sahara remembered the cardboard box of handwritten manuscripts shoved away in a closet. She brought them back out into the light, and all those long-forgotten characters became her salvation. She gave them new life, and in the process, they saved her.

So, even though Bob has passed on, they are still partners in publishing his amazing stories. Sahara hopes you enjoy them.

Warrior Woman picks up three years after the end of Warrior Child, when Karrin has built a solo life for herself on Switch with the companionship of Brownie, a double-tailed monkey-like creature who’s devoted to her and only leaves her side when she menstruates, one of the many changes she’s experienced since Lurga disappeared. Since her guardian hasn’t returned and she spotted Tatum in his silver fighter shortly after his departure, she’s assumed that Lurga is dead and, while mourning him every day, recognizes she must soldier on to honor his devotion to her. So she fishes, hunts with a bow & arrow, makes her own clothes from skins she tanned, and explores Switch.

Which is how she finds the huge black ship wrecked on the edge of a lake, the source of exotic goodies Brownie has been delivering for months. Clothes, knives, swords, and Lurga’s precious Lear silver are packed aboard the ship, and during her exploration of the interior, she activates the computer system, which informs her the ship belongs to the Senods, a peaceful trading race, and as the finder of the ship, she’s entitled to file a claim on the ship and its contents. But by doing do, she inadvertently alerts the vicious Calens to her presence, and they advance on Switch to fulfill the contract Lurga broke a decade earlier to eliminate the earthling girl.

As she and Brownie prepare to battle the hordes that outnumber them, Karrin has no clue about the surprises that will emerge from the ship. Ahead of her are introductions, trials, bombshells, and revelations that unveil just how much she’s changed from a terrified young child to a strong, confident, and powerful young woman, reinforced by knowing she has support for whatever the future holds. This spellbinding tale of Karrin’s maturity and mastery of her powers is a superb conclusion to the Excalibur saga.

I have not read any of this series and do not usually start a series 4 books in. This book stood alone fine. There were a few questions I wondered about and that is when I discovered it was book four. But nothing that made me want to stop and go back to read the first three books first.
From page one she had me hooked. Sahara Foley has created a universe with new alien life forms. The magic she swirls around within her book is wonderful. She added some dimensional traveling, magic, new life forms and a little romance to make the perfect book.
    I would highly recommend it.

This book was just as exciting as book three. I missed the first two books. There are new worlds, magic, romance, and a very strong female character. Very satisfying book. The ending of the book was sad but satisfying. I highly recommend this series. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the final chapter of one of the most enthralling stories I've read in a while. The conclusion is both satisfying and sad at the same time. Saharah Foley does a masterful job at bringing her series to a close. If you like new worlds, magic, romance, and strong female characters this series is a must read!!!! Thank you Saharah Foley for the hours of enjoyment!!
