Twist, Turns & Suspense
If you love CSI, Criminal Minds and Dexter, then you’ll love this book!! Suspense from beginning to end. I couldn’t put this book down as I was eager to find out who did it!! Many twists and turns with brilliant writing. Luke Murphy does it again in his second book.

Kiss & Tell by Luke Murphy is a wonderfully written and richly descriptive novel, with brilliantly drawn characters driven by obsession and the need for justice. The author weaves a well-crafted suspenseful crime thriller with intriguing twists and turns that will captivate the reader from the first page to the last. Skillfully constructed, it’s a gripping tale that fans of mystery, thriller and suspense will enjoy.

The book description gives a sneak preview: ‘Officer Charlene Taylor has received her dream promotion—working Homicide with the LAPD. Her first case is the high-profile murder of Ken Anderson, a playboy UCLA professor with a haunted past. A mafia kingpin, billionaire tycoon, cheated wife and jaded lover are only a few on a long list of suspects, all with motive and opportunity.

Not only does she feel the pressure from media and her boss to solve her first case, but Charlene must also deal with her father’s murderer, the “Celebrity Slayer,” a serial killer who enjoys baiting her with his knowledge of her life and routines. Can a rookie detective work two high-profile cases and still keep her sanity?’

Now, if that’s not enough to get your curiosity juices flowing, I don’t know what will. But if you want to find out what happens, you’ll just have to turn the pages for yourself! However, I will say it was well worth the read. It’s my second time reading this author and I must say I was very impressed yet again.

The story had every element a good story should have. A solid plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that’s something I really look for in a good book.

I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of the novel in my head to see if I could figure more out. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much.

This was a fascinating and captivating read that had me immersed from the beginning. The story flowed from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. There are plenty of attention-grabbing moments in this page turner that will take the reader on a gripping journey. Five stars.

After the Murder of her father, Charlene Taylor is assigned her first case as a rookie detective with the LAPD’s Robbery and Homicide Department. She is tasked to solve the high- profile murder of Ken Anderson, a man whose actions reveal him to have been callous and loathed by many. Working through a lengthy list of suspects while battling her own demons, Charlene finds herself involved in another high- profile case with the “Celebrity Slayer”. Although her father was retired, it becomes clear that he was investigating the case when the killer reaches out to her and confesses to murdering him. Charlene is determined to find the serial killer who claims to have murdered her father. As she works through both cases the “Celebrity Slayer” has already set his sights on her and continues to taunt and watch her every move.
I really enjoyed this book and give Luke Murphy a 5 out of 5 stars for “Kiss and Tell’. I gave this book a high rating because the story was fast paced, intense, kept me guessing and honestly, I just did not want to put it down. The Protagonist Charlene Taylor is tough and smart but not perfect. Her inner struggles and personality make her seem realistic and raw, especially considering her line of work. The scenes were descriptive to the point where I as the reader felt I was there and could taste or feel what was happening. This book is part of a series and I cannot wait to get my hands on book 2. I think this book would appeal to anyone who enjoys a good Thriller, Mystery or Suspense Novel.

Charlene Taylor is a second generation cop with a lot of baggage. Her father was a top homicide detective and a perfectionist who put his job before his family and wanted Charlene to be the son he never had. Following in his footsteps, she becomes a cop and works hard to live up to his standards.... so hard, she alienates herself from her mom, sister and boyfriend. Charlene is bright and ambitious, but her drinking threatens to derail her career. After her father is murdered, she's convinced he was working on a case instead of enjoying his retirement. A serial killer dubbed the celebrity slayer has been murdering B list actresses. Charlene becomes convinced her dad's murder is somehow connected, but her captain has her assigned to another high profile murder. The son in law of a powerful businessman is murdered in the home of his teaching assistant. While investigating the professor's death, Charlene starts receiving calls from someone who claims to be the slayer. Can she solve her case and join the hunt for the slayer before she becomes his next victim?
Detective Charlene Taylor is a strong female protagonist. Luke Murphy does an excellent job of writing from her perspective. She is a nice balance of toughness with a certain vulnerability that makes her seem real instead of the typical invincible super cop. She has serious flaws like her drinking and her difficulty with relationships, but she's a work in progress. This book is action packed with many suspects and surprising twists. It almost felt like two books in one

I love reading a good thriller, and Kiss & Tell didn't disappoint. I fell in love with Charlene from the start, she's a feisty woman without being arrogant. There are so many twists and turns you'll be kept guessing from start to finish. I read the book in 2 days, I couldn't put it down, I had to know the ending. If all Luke Murphy's books are going to be as good as this then we are in for a real treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Suspense! Absolutely enjoyed it :)

This book was a page turner that completely hooked me! The book was a pleasant surprise ever since the complex plot of crimes presents itself in the first 2 chapters. The story completely enveloped me in 2 intertwined mysteries related to the main detective character. Several human traits of the MC developed along with the police suspense plot, such as addiction to the emotional loss of someone close, which enhanced my connection to the MC and made it more real, leading me to sympathize and cheer for her. The author knew how to bring these elements of human reality to the MC very well and that makes us more involved throughout each chapter.
The way the crimes are presented, always leading to several questions and doubts throughout the investigation, makes the plot more plausible and the idea won me over from the beginning. The mix of characters made the plot intriguing and I was questioning motives and suspects, which the author knew how to unfold little by little throughout the book, as if he wanted me to become the MC's assistant detective. I felt completely part of the investigation and connected to the MC to solve the mystery. The characters were presented along the story in a way that kept me interested in the plot until the very end. I really enjoyed this suspense and will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.
