Kwanzaa by Chance Kindle Edition
The holiday season is always full of good cheer, togetherness, and unity. I usually love spending time with my family, whether it’s Christmas, Kwanzaa, or New Year’s. I got through Christmas unscathed, but now my mother has decided, in the name of unity, to set me up with an old flame.
It’s not a relationship I want rekindled. I know what is buried underneath the ash and it isn’t pretty.
Walking into Fern’s shop, hoping to soften my mother’s determination, I wasn’t expecting to find exactly what I’ve been looking for. Fern might think her only purpose is to be a buffer for my ex, but I’ll show her I want her in my life longer than one night.
I’ll show her this is the start of forever. By the seventh night of Kwanzaa she’ll be mine.
FERN
I love helping people find the perfect flowers to convey whatever is in their hearts. An apology. A declaration of love. Grief.
When Darren walks into my shop to get some flowers for his mom for Kwanzaa, I thought it would be just another transaction, just another bouquet. When he needs more from me than the perfect bloom, I’m more than willing to step in and be the girl on his arm for dinner. A night of good food and family won’t be a hardship as long as I can ignore the pang of wanting it to be more.
His ex hates me on sight and his mother isn’t much better. The only bright spots are his sister, who has her own guest for dinner, and his grandmother, who has a wicked sense of humor and all-seeing eyes. If I get through dinner, I promise to stay in my shop where I belong. I’ll keep my good deeds to fulfilling other people’s flower needs and nothing more.
There’s a purpose in Darren’s eyes I’m not sure how to interpret. With every look and every touch, I find myself hoping for more than the seven nights of Kwanzaa. Could he want more too?
*18+. If you like alpha heroes and an insta-love story that is sweet and spicy but isn’t necessarily simple, then this is for you. No cheating with a guaranteed HEA. It is a standalone but is related to my Denver Family series (Banks Ink., Suburban Outcasts and Higgins Security). Meet Fern in Healing Her Home (Banks Ink. Book 5).*

About the author

Ember Davis loves alpha heroes with a range of emotions, but a strong sense of how to take care of their women. She loves her heroines from all walks of life, just like her heroes, and she wants them to be real and relatable. Her heroines tend to be sassy, opinionated and smart.
Ember is a stay at home mom of two who recently refound her love of books and all things romance and is so glad that she did. She’s always been creative, but writing and creating stories that she would love to read satisfies the dreams she had as a little girl. She loves butterflies, the color purple and enjoying time with her family.
Pssst…it’s totally a pen name, but everything above is 100% true.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2022Great to see a series on Kwanzaa and that Ember Davis shares her incredible talent by having a story of Fern finding her HEA. And the added small part of seeing the Banks Ink Family again.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2022I was loving this book anyway. I love the way they met. I love that instant connection and the speed of their relationship. I love the glimpses of Ember Davis’ Denver family. But then Darren started calling Fern “baby girl”. That just sealed it for me. Loved it!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2021Epic Swoon!! Fern and Darren are both feeling adrift in this sweet and steamy holiday instalove story! But a chance meeting has Darren turning alpha, becoming primal and possessive, wanting to claim Fern as his even before asking her to join him and his family to celebrate the first night of Kwanzaa. So much love, passion, and a sense of strong family values is intricately woven throughout this amazing story! Happy Holidays!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2023I really love Ember Davis books they have all been great. I like the length of the books and the instant love theme. Love the racial diversity and the emphasis on Kwanzaa. Although Fern is in several of the Bank's family series, Fern finds a family with Darren. I like that there is no beating around the brush, or insecurities that hold the couple back. This is a short, sexy, love story.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2021Fern and Darren were instalove magic. - Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2021A holiday romance story that was heartwarming and hot! Darren felt that instant connection for Fern from the first unexpected meeting. He was so swoon worthy with his alpha way and his sweet way with her made for a romantic read. I love learning more of the Kwanzaa Holiday and the light drama and loads of heat level in this newest release that doesn’t disappoint.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2022This is a relatively new author to me an I like her books. This is my favorite of the series so far. I’m glad I found the series. I’m learning a lot about Kwanza. I really loved Darren and Fern together. Their instalove was faster than I like but with their chemistry and his whole family I loved everything about it. I can’t wait to read Demetra and Hugo’s story. I also have the Banks series on my TBR now.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2022Darren never expects to meet the love of his life while.picking up flowers before Kwanzaa dinner with his family but when he walks into teen's store he falls but so does she in this fun read.
