7 Minutes in Kevin (Games We Play in Granville) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,161 ratings

7 minutes in...holy heck, what have I done?!
What happens when I return early from a work trip to find my son throwing yet another party?

Annoyance. Exasperation. Temptation...

I'm tired, yearning for my bed, but I hadn't counted on the games my son and his friends play--or the one person who'd be waiting in my closet after everyone else is gone.

The guy who's been haunting my fantasies lately.

He's too beautiful. Too young. Too off-limits, being one of my son's best friends.

And...on his knees for me.

Oh god.

7 Minutes in Kevin is a son's best friend romance with a bi-curious dad, an androgynous beauty who challenges his understanding of himself, and a quirky small town full of watching eyes.

    D. J. Jamison has immersed us in the fraternity, gossip, friendship, pettiness, and love that is the backdrop for this series of books, Games We Play. In this installment, there is the attraction of the father of one of the main characters in a previous episode with a man the same age as his son, a previous main character in the series.

Jamison gives us a wonderful view of the community, and how the small town inhibits some behaviors by inference. Their attraction is hidden to others, and not resolved as to be enduring by the two.

But circumstances and lust as well as a realization of their need for each other, thrust them into deepening their relationship. It's a fantastic story, and their are several eye-moist scenes. It's a HEA and a great read. Don't miss the deleted scenes that are available.

Summary: Kevin has had a crush on is friend Darren’s dad, Garret, for years—everyone knows this. Even Garret. But he never thought anything would come of it. Garret’s suspected for a few years now that he might be bisexual. And recently, he’s started to realize he’s as attracted to Kevin as Kevin is to him. But he’s 20 years older than Kevin and Kevin is his son’s lifelong friend. But when Garret comes home early to find Darren has had a party at his house, and discovers Kevin got left behind waiting for his Seven Minutes in Heaven, he gets an eye-opening experience when Kevin “mistakenly” kisses him.

Review: This is a sweet age gap, best friend’s father, small town, steamy, mm romance. Aside from the complications of their age difference and the fact that Garret is Kevin’s friend’s dad, they also have worries about small town gossip, and Garret’s job as a trucker which takes him away from home three weeks every month. Plus, Kevin, a self-described femboy, worries that being with him will draw negative attention to Garret that he won’t want to deal with. So they hide their relationship. It is sweet to watch them get to know each other—to start off as just a hook up, but to not be able to resist each other and so start reaching out via text and video chats while Garrett is on the road. Plus, when he’s around, Garret volunteers to help with he Pride celebrations Kevin his planning, so they have plenty of opportunities to become close. Kevin also does drag, and I love how empowering that is for him and also how much Garret respects Kevin for doing it. It is really wonderful how much Garret loves every aspect of Kevin. I also love how mutually supportive they are of each other. They really have a lovely and quite healthy relationship.

Loved, loved, loved everything about this book!  I have been thoroughly enjoying this series and all the romance and happenings in Granville and was dying for Garrett and Kevin's story. It did not disappoint.  It was so wonderful. Although an unlikely pair, they were absolutely perfect for each other.  Kevin was such a strong and confident man but battled with an underlying fear of being accepted for who he was. Garrett was a middle-aged, divorced man who had a heart of gold and was such a caretaker for everyone around him. I absolutely loved how Garrett just embraced his attraction to Kevin. Sure he had doubts about the age difference,  and Kevin being his son's friend, but he did not let that stop him. Their time between the sheets was smoking hot and also so tender and intimate. He experienced all his firsts with a man with Kevin and they were fabulous.  Garrett just loved Kevin for who he was completely whether it be in jeans and a t-shirt, a dress and heels, or in full drag as Sassy. He helped show Kevin it was ok to be who he was and to not hid from it. Kevin helped Garrett learn his happiness mattered and it was ok to put himself first. This book was so much about acceptance, learning to be your true self, and loving who you wanted because it makes you happy.
The cast of characters from the previous books are back and the dynamic between all the friends and family were wonderful and heartwarming as they learned about Garrett and Kevin being together.  I'm so sad to say goodbye to this series and these fantastic characters, but what a way to close it out. Fabulous book!

This was not only a touching love story but a deep exploration of diversity, prejudice, the fears that hold us back, and the love required (internal and external) to live your authentic life. This was a wonderful HEA to a wonderful first series of what I hope will be many more in the Granville world!

Kevin has had a crush on his best friend's dad Garrett for ages. One night he's playing the game 7 minutes in heaven after another horrible date gone wrong when Garrett comes home and finds Kevin in his closet. He wasn't expecting him but he doesn't turn down what he's offering since he's been crushing on him too.

Though afterwards Kevin takes off cause he's freaking out a little thinking Garrett won't be okay with it afterwards. He is supposed to be straight which isn't the case. Garrett goes to Kevin right before he has to leave for his trucking job after he's been avoided mostly by Kevin. They work it out agreeing to a KISS relationship keep it simple and sexy.

That isn't what's happening as they fall harder. Kevin's scared though because he doesn't think Garrett will be okay with how it'll be dating him openly because he might be a man but he loves doing drag and showing off his feminine side as well.

I myself thought was hot the way he dressed and was. Loved Sassy his drag queen persona. They were doing a pride parade which Kevin and others helped put on. He ended up being the star as Sassy when Cherry hurt herself. This was wonderful and I enjoyed it a lot. Was glad when they came out as a couple finally near the end. Them going on road together was awesome.

Kevin finally gets his happy ever after with the man of his dreams. Garrett accepts him exactly as he is, and once they get over their fear of being a couple, they are perfect together.

As always, DJ writes characters you can fall in love with, a supporting cast who are believable and likable and amazing, and I can't recommend this enough

So happy for Kevin and Garrett, Linc was such an instigator. All the worries Kevin had being a femboy and with Garrett for his reputation were very real and it’s disgraceful people like our beautiful Kevin live in anxiety about being their selves but his drag queen persona let him feel free and brave. I didn’t like what Emily said when she first found out but I was more worried about Darren but I knew Linc would help there. Great story.

Contains: friend's dad/son's friend, 20yr age gap, femboi, drag.

OMG!!! I I can't believe I finished this fabulous book. I wanted soooo much more. I often loose interest in book who have over 300 pages but oh god I want more. I can't believe I so hungover on this book. I don't like age gap, I loose interest if too long, but I cannot put this one down. It is so well written. The characters are complete. (Past, personnality, fear, vulnerabilities, hope, etc) the friends group, drag queens and town folks are lovable. It contains love, vulnerability, uncertainty, with a big dose of sparkles, joy, hope and courage.

In this book, we have a dad who recently discover is bisexuality. But he only have eyes for one person. The one he can't have. Because it's his son's friend. Frail, sweet, femboi who have a big crush on an awsome man, but he can't have it because it's his friends dad. When these two play a game, sometime the game goal have to change, but are they ready to let the outsider of the game in it. Can they have it all: friends, family and love and happiness?
