    I love the overlapping characters in this series. This book was about shy people gaining confidence, which was such a unique angle on a rom-com. Shyness was described with great depth and empathy! The food descriptions in this (and the previous book Home Cooking) are tantalizing. And the town characters are hilarious too.

    I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a slow burn romance that is full of humor. Katie is a mess with her lack of confidence and organization. This does not make her seem to fit into a new head chef position. Kenny is a sweetheart that is shy and not very confident either. The matchmaking group has decided they know just what they need. Kenny and Katie bond over their issues and find their confidence together.

    Katie is now the head chef at the Jimmy Creek Resort in the Catskills. After her friend, Mia, the previous chef, left to work in the City, Katie was finally able to leave her stressful job and become a head chef making her dreams come true. Or did they? Lacking self-confidence Katie questions everything she does much to the consternation of her new boss, Emma. Somehow, Emma must convince Katie that she is doing a wonderful job. Mix in a woman in town who considers herself a matchmaker, and we find Katie sent on a few disastrous dates. But could her true love be someone Katie already knows? As she struggles to find her confidence in her new job, along the way, she will find out more about herself than she ever thought possible. I love this series. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.

    I never miss a book by Diane Michaels. Book 4 in the Empire State of Mind series does not disappoint. Centered around the newly renovated (and continuing renovations) Jimmy Creek Resort, we meet a new character, Katie, the restaurant’s fine chef. Katie transforms the restaurant into a destination, learns to knit, meets the colorful people of the small town and rents an apartment above a boutique downtown.
    Any more and I will give it away!
