Kidnapped Asylum: Book 1 of the Asylum Seekers Series Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 8 ratings

Inspired by a true story.

The terror of entering the looming African jungle didn't stop Christel.

Political activist, Christel Kisongo, worked for the Paix Programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo until the disappearance of his UN colleagues. Promoting peaceful resolution to conflict was his life’s calling - until he had to flee his country, with nothing but his backpack.

Once catapulted into the quest for asylum in the United States, will he be crushed in the immigration process or will he survive the tumultuous political landscape?

I really enjoyed reading this book. I don't read a lot of fiction, but I think I enjoyed it because it was inspired by a true story and had a realistic and timely theme. By the end, I definitely wanted to know what would be happening next - so that means it's a good book!! Hopefully, we find out!

I will definitely recommend this book to my friends! The characters were well developed and I really cared about them! I kept wanting to read to find out what happened to Christel. I was sad when the book ended and I didn’t get to find out if Christel will be reunited with his family!

I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review of "Kidnapped Asylum," and found the story to be very compelling. The characters are brightly portrayed, the story detailed with good pacing, and the content is something worth learning about. I found myself emotionally connecting with Christel and the other characters, truly caring what happened to them all and am excited for the next book.

I loved this book and the story of Christel. I read a little every night and it was hard to put it down. Brandi Parsons knows how to tell a story. I fell into the story each night unaware of the words or the page as Parsons immersed me in Christel’s world.

Christel’s passion to help his fellow Congolese was amazing, I can’t wait for the next book of his life’s work.

Sadly, stories like Christel's aren't unique. Many people from countries in turmoil are seeking political asylum and running from a harrowing ordeal--running for their lives. This story paints a picture of one brave soul who was able to get out and escape. Parsons follows Christel on his journey from his own war-torn country to America, the land of opportunity.

Christel has experienced many losses. His story is sad and tragic... yet an excellent example of the human spirit's resiliency. I have questions and wonder what happens next, but I can't ask them here. That would reveal too many spoilers!

This is an amazing story of heroism. Told through the voice of Christel, a Peace Program worker, he shares harrowing stories of rescuing Rwandan refugees. After losing his brother, and colleagues, his only choice is to flee himself. The author has brilliantly portrayed the mind and heart of Christel as he risks everything to reach safety. It is an eye-opener about those who must flee their country and what they must endure even after they reach safety.
