Kim & Skip (Men of Memphis Blues) Kindle Edition
★Kimber “Kim” Donlyn★
Mistakes… I can’t say I’ve made any. I couldn’t have imagined some of the things that came my way, but I wouldn’t change them for anything because if I did, I wouldn’t be the man I am, nor would I have the people I love. I live my life without regrets because life is too short… That’s a lesson I would prefer to skip, but that’s not possible.
I’m a drag queen—Gimme Dong—and I co-own a drag club, Ben Dover’s Dragtime Cabaret. I’ve had men come and go in my life, but one stuck around—in a most peculiar way. Our relationship isn’t for everyone, but it works for us. I’ll never find another man like mine. Here’s how my grand love affair started…

★Stephen “Skip” Mitchell★
I’m a baseball scout for the Miami Sharks, and I’m a cliché—I find a boy in every port. One night I get some life changing news, and I don’t want to be alone with it. Down the block from my apartment, there’s a bar, and lo-and-behold—there’s a stool that fits me well. The bartender is just the eye candy I need, but he becomes much more than I can imagine I’d want… or need.
Finding the person who is made for me is a blessing. I find my priorities change in ways I’d have never believed. This is the beginning of a story I never thought I’d tell.

About the author

Sam E. Kraemer (she/her) grew up in the rural Midwest with a massive love for reading. After more than one career, she returned to her love of reading and tried her hand at writing. Sam currently writes M/M contemporary romance, subgenres: sweet low angst, age-gap, cowboys, mysteries, and military/mercenary. Sam is a firm believer in “Love is Love” regardless of how it presents itself and proud to be a staunch ally of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Sam has a loving, supportive family and feels blessed by the universe every day for all that has been given. Sam's old enough to know how to have fun, but too old to care what others think about her definition of a good time. In her heart and soul, Sam believes she’s hit the cosmic jackpot!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhen I first read Cash & Cary the first book in the Men of Memphis Blues series, I commented on how interesting Skip and Kim were and how I'd love to read about their story. And it is finally here! I am really glad to finally see it. Their story is set a few years prior to the first book in the series and it helps to bring some really wonderful context to some of the supporting characters in that book.
Kim and Skip's story is such a bittersweet one having read the first book. Seeing their lives as individuals and as a couple in this is a rewarding experience. Watching them slowly falling in love through the years going from just being simply attracted to each other, being friends and then in the end being the ONE for each other despite having an open relationship. They complement each other and not even the distance that they experience as part of Skip's job lessened the love they had.
It is quite short so there were times when a section feels a bit rushed and some of the dialogue seem a bit off and interrupted the flow of the story.
Those minor points I mentioned did not lessen how I liked this story a lot. It fleshed out some really interesting characters with a delightful, bittersweet, love story. I recommend reading Kim & Skip and give this a 4.75 stars out of 5.
I received an ARC copy of this book and I have chosen to publish my fair and honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2021Format: KindleThanks for the story of Kim and Skip. I always like to know where it all started and with this I got my wish. I'm never a fan of open relationships but understand that it works for some and definitely was the best way for Skip and Kim to start out. Sad that their HEA was cut short but loved how they came together. Excited for the rest of the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA wonderful prequel to the world of Cash and Cary....and what happened with Skip, well done, and so very sweet. Like snap shots of time, with little hints to Cash and Cary, I laughed and I cried.....
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2021Format: KindleKim & Skip is a prequel story in the Men of Memphis Blues series by Sam E. Kraemer. It is the story of Kim and Skip, Skip being the uncle of Cash (book 1). I had some trouble getting into the story but when I did..... it was sweet, sexy, fun, full of feels and very well written.

Kim & Skip is a prequel to Cash & Cary (Book 1) of Sam E. Kraemer’s Men of Memphis Blues series.
Sam E. Kraemer does a wonderful job in portraying the love between these two amazing characters. Kim & Skip’s story spans years and while their relationship is a bit unconventional, it is filled with laughter and love. Having read Cash & Cary, I knew I was in for a bittersweet ending. While it brought tears to my eyes, it also left a smile on my face!
I am loving this series and look forward to reading the next Men of Memphis Blues book.
*Thank you for Advance Reader’s Copy. I am happy to leave my voluntary review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2021Format: KindleI loved this story a lot, but it was bittersweet! We got a short glimpse into their love story. Kim and Skip’s had an unorthodox relationship, they had an open relationship but none on page only implied. They lived in close proximity but not together. I loved how they seemed to fit one another perfectly. I just wish It was a bit longer and we got a bit more of their lives. The ending made me equally happy and sad. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy I received.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2021Format: KindleThis short was a fun read. Kim and Skip were a cute friend/lover story that had a cute dynamic. I kept wanting more for the two of them. They did them and moved at their own pace. Sets up for Cash & Cary’s book. Over all an enjoyable read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2021Format: KindleI loved this story of an unconventional romance that worked perfectly for the MCs. The author brought heart and soul into her characters, their world, and I just wish it never would have ended!! I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series to follow (though there is only one more so far...) I don't like to give spoilers but Kim and Skip have an unconventional meeting, relationship, and love, but it totally works! And though life tries to pull them apart, their love will always persevere!! The prequel to The Men of Memphis Blues MM series by Sam E. Kraemer, well worth the read!! Highly Recommended!!!
