4.2 out of 5 stars 49 ratings

Sometimes the past should be left in the past…

Eighteen months ago, I had the hottest one-night stand of my life.
The problem?
She was gone before I woke up.
Imagine my surprise when I see her at my father’s home almost two years later.
My little Houdini thinks that just because we’re family, I’ll keep my hands to myself. She has no idea who she’s dealing with.
I run this town and the Brady Organization.
I’m the Kingpin.
And I always get what I want.

The Secrets That Bind us is the complete Kingpin trilogy from USA Today Bestselling author Brooke Summers.

Mia and Hudson meet one night, and their attraction to each other is immediate and intense. Hudson is the drug king, and Mia is the sweet and innocent girl. When they next see each other, it's because their parents had married, and they're now step-siblings. What happens when you're in love with the drug king, but your love is taboo? When Mia is kidnapped, will Hudson do everything in his power to get her back? Will their family and friends accept their relationship or try to tear them apart?

I absolutely LOVED this box set! The connection between Mia and Hudson was not only beautiful, but their hardships/trials also tore at my heart. The characters are not only fully developed, they are also larger than life. The plot was a roller coaster! There were so many surprises and corkscrews throughout the books that I was completely enraptured. If you enjoy a good mafiaesque book filled with drama, taboo, love, betrayal, and revenge, then Kingpin is for you. I highly recommend this book, and I can't wait to read more of Ms. Summers' books.

I don’t even think I have the words to convey every single emotion thought or feeling I had with this book. The love these two have for one another. The strength Mia has is unmatched the love that Hudson has and the lengths he would go to to protect Mia. The side characters aren’t even side characters they are family. This book is both gut wrenching heart breaking tears running down your face and beautiful in so many ways. One of the best read of 2022 for me.

Ok so this whole trilogy was a hell of a roller coaster!

Mia and Hudson are the epitome of “made for each other” even if they’re scared! Instantly drawn to each other, they can’t seem to shake how they feel regardless if their parents are married or not!

He’s the Kingpin, she’s the school girl lol two completely different worlds.

Together they face heartbreak and betrayal and grieve so many of their family and friends it’ll make your heart break!

Some of the dialogue and the reactions of Mia seemed a bit juvenile but as long as you keep In mind that for most of the series Mia is either 18 or 20? You should be able to get over it.

There’s sooooo many twist and turns that my brain kept bouncing though the pages! great read all in all.

I can’t recommend this series enough! The fact that it’s packaged together in a nice box set is a huge advantage for readers. Mia and Hudson are drawn to each other when they meet during a night out but don’t get to completely connect. Once they see each other again, they’re step siblings!! So it’s turned into quite a forbidden romance, not to mention they are complete opposites. Turns out Hudson is a dangerous guy and Mia gets put through the ringer due to the fact that she is connected to Hudson and she’s who he cares about. There’s a ton of action, heart wrenching scenes and so much steam between Hudson and Mia. This series has it all!!

I read this series separately when Ms. Summers first released each story and I absolutely had to jump on this collection and get it in hardback. Mia and Hudson endure so much in this trilogy, Mia more so than anyone. Definitely worth the read as the characters make an appearance in Bloody Union.

I literally ate these books in days! I absolutely loved these two! They hit it off right away and I love how he went straight to it, taking what he wants immediately. First book, you get to meet these characters, second book you get even more hardships, needing to battle for your loved one and the third book, you get a sweet wrap up of the series.

This series is the epic saga of Mia and Hudson's coming together. There's lots of action, suspense, and twists. It's an amazing series and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice story but awful writing
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 20, 2022
The story is generally nice and most of the characters are likeable but the writing is absolutely awful.
The final two books drag on with nothing really happening until the end. The editing missed several errors and the narrative voices make no sense. I get the feeling the author doesnt understand how narrative voices work which is why for example chapters from Hudson's POV at one point start sounding as if the narrator is from the 19th century. It is just weird at times. All in all I felt this book was a chore to read
