From the Inside Flap

Tabby paused in the hallway outside the makeup room, took a deep breath, and let it out slowly. Nerves fluttered like moths in her stomach and her mouth had gone dry. Although she was making a name for herself in New York with her body art, this was the first film set she'd worked on, and the job meant the world to her. Even though she'd already landed a place at the Delamar Academy in London starting in September, it wasn't going to do her any harm to have a positive reference from Geoff Stone on her résumé. And today was her big day. She was to practice making up Will Daniells's stunt double as the Atlantean King, and Geoff Stone would be coming to inspect her work in a couple of hours. If she passed, she would get to make up the lead.

When, she told herself, lifting her chin. When she passed.

Voices echoed from inside the room. She took another deep breath, walked forward, and paused in the open doorway, clutching her big makeup bag to her chest.

Two men sat across from each other, laughing. She recognized Mick Forstner, Madeleine's husband, who was tall with a stocky build, rugged good looks, and short brown hair. He sat forward, elbows on his knees, gesturing as he told a story.

The other guy leaned back on the bench, his arms resting along the top of the seat, long legs stretched out before him, crossed at the ankles. He wore a black T-shirt and black track pants, and his hair was short and black, too, only it looked natural, unlike Tabby's dyed mop. With his white teeth and a dazzling smile, he was almost unrecognizable from the wild-haired warrior she'd met yesterday, but the muscular arms and the way he tipped his head as he listened to his friend gave him away.

As she'd dozed off the night before, she'd wondered what Eli looked like beneath the makeup and terrible teeth. She wasn't disappointed. He was every bit as handsome as she'd hoped he'd be.

Yowza.

Set halfway across the world from me, it's a unique pairing of a makeup artist and a stuntman. That allows for sensual scenes like this:

"She fanned her hands out across the width of his shoulders, stroked his collarbone, her fingers studying and probing, and he realized this was more than a fun experiment for her—she was cataloging his bones and muscles, planning in her mind’s eye where the patterns and colors she had to paint would lie. Did she do this with every subject she worked on? Trying to ignore the fact that he didn’t like the thought of her doing this to anyone else, he continued to watch as she ran her hands down his chest and traced his ribs, outlining the muscles to his shoulders. Her fingers were so light and gentle it made him want to twitch like a dog being scratched in the sweet spot behind the ear."

I enjoy the author's mix of sensual and silly, as shown above. Her characters go through much the same path as many other romance novels - meet, deny attraction, lots of sex, dramatic misunderstanding, HEA - yet the process of those steps is always an entertaining read.

I really enjoyed this story. I love the New Zealand setting and this one didn't disappoint. The H&h are working on a movie set together, he is a stuntman and she is a make-up artist. She has plans to go to London to advance her studies and he plans to leave for L.A. for more certification as soon as the movie is over.

Best laid plans always seem to get messed up. These two start off having a fling and it quickly turns into more. With each one going in a different direction it is hard to see how these two can get their HEA. However, they do. It was a very good read and I enjoyed it. I definitely recommend it.

Only one thought.. do they not have the morning after pill in N.Z.? Good read.

Tabby and Eli are such a cute and exciting couple. Tabby is a make-up artist and Eli is a stuntman in the movie. Their connection is instant with the first time she meets him and, he's not looking very good in his "character". When she finally sees the real Eli, all bets are off. She just needed to get near him and feel him and with her job, she was given the perfect opportunity when she had to make him up for his character for the first time.
Eli has a rule, he doesn't date anyone he works with. Also, he's leaving for L.A. and wouldn't want any type of relationship anyway. That is, until he meets Tabby and realizes that he just needs to have her. At least once. But once just wasn't enough for them. Ultimately, they needed to decide whether they would keep the relationship going and if so, how they were going to do it with his plans to go to L.A. and her schooling in London. The story was very entertaining and steamy. I'm not sure how I missed this book, but it was great.

    Amazing!!
Eli and Tabby are both people of character, so distinct, yet great together.
Eli, a stuntman, ever active and full of energy, not interested in a relationship where his partner doesn't agree with his line of work. His ex was that partner, so a relationship isn't really on his mind, particularly because his dead brother Charles made him promise to pursue 'their' dream of working in L.A.

Tabby, a passionate make up artist, determined to make the best of her opportunities (a full scholarship to study in a prestigious make up school) regardless of her family demanding she comes home to care for her sick father. She has such big dreams that she can allow personal ties to hold her back, especially since her silly ex made her work away from her dreams, only to lose him.

What they want is right before their eyes, but they are both not in each others plan.

L.A. or London or New Zealand, home is always where the heart is.
How soon before they realize the possibilities of leaving love behind when pursuing life goals?

You'll have to read it to know for sure, if life, love and goals can journey together, or not?

I love to read a story that is different than the rest of the stories I have read. This book may have had similarities to others in the whole actor/romance with co-worker but the story was different and the ending was different. I loved watching Tabby and Eli find their happiness and the struggles they each went through to get that happiness; learning that it is okay if dreams change.

This is such a lovely, passionate story. Tabatha Rogers is a make-up artist from America, who has been offered a job on a film set in New Zealand if she can match the work of the previous girl who was badly injured in a hit and run accident. On her first day on the set she is introduced to Eli Black, a top stunt man.
They both have plans for their lives after the film is over, Eli is planning to go to Hollywood to further his career, after promising his dying elder brother that he would. Tabby has won a scholarship to a top stage and film make-up school, in London. Neither of the are interested in meeting anyone because of their plans, and both have suffered bad break-ups. Yet they are instantly attracted to each other, and their resolve weakens. They become very close, but neither will bend and give up their plans and ambitions, so they know this is a short-term fling. There are a few trials and tribulations along the way, and it takes a major incident to make one of them realise that their ambitions can happen somewhere else.
Serenity Woods is so good at writing emotions, you laugh and cry and get angry alongside these lovely characters. A lovely story, with the aah! factor. Well worth reading.

What happens when your life is all mapped out and it doesn't include a relationship... only to discover that the one you didn't know you wanted is right in front of you...??

This is the dilemma facing Tabby (Tabatha) and Eli. Tabby is the new make up artist on the latest movie blockbuster filming in New Zealand and she's using this one month stop-gap to gain a good reference before heading to the UK to go to the make up college she always wanted to but gave up for another man (her ex...). And Eli is a stuntman whose goal is to make it to Hollywood and honour the memory of his late brother. Neither of them have the time or yet headspace to desire or contemplate a relationship and yet spunky Tabby and hunky Eli hit it off straight away and sparks of lust and attraction start flying.

I just fell in love with the characters of Eli and Tabby. Eli has loads of energy and loves everything about being a stuntman. He's super hot, muscular and very sexy. And he's not looking to be in another relationship where his partner isn't impressed with his line of work.

Tabby is a funky chick who is determined to do things her way - even if that means defying her families wishes to come home. She absolutely loves body art and drawing on other people's skin or even her own. And most of all Tabby is scared of being in another relationship that where she feels she would have to change who she is.

This story is fantastic. It's heartfelt and sensual and sexy and shows just what happens when what is meant to only be a lust-filled fling starts to feel like something more.
You'll need to read for yourself to discover what Tabby and Eli do when they discover that they're not really sure they can leave one other behind. And trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Tabby is a make up artist and Eli is a stuntman that she meets on a movie set.
They both have dreams and goals for the future. Tabby has won a scholarship to a prestigious make up school in London and Eli is headed to LA to further his career. It's a promise he made to his brother before he died. Given that, a committed relationship is not convenient for either of them right now.
But the attraction is strong and the sex is explosive. Soon the time will come when the movie is finished and they will each be on their way. But the thought of parting is heart breaking. What to do?
Serenity Woods writes another of her delightful stand-alone stories set in New Zealand.
