Kiss Me Not Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 1,050 ratings

What do you do when you’re the reigning kissing booth champion but the only person you want to kiss is your best friend’s brother?

Let me make this clear right here, right now: I, Halley Dawson, do not care that Preston Wright is kissing other women.
Not a lick. Not at all. Nuh-uh-freakin’-uh.
I do care that he’s doing it six feet away from me behind a gaudy velvet curtain—making him my competition in this year’s kissing contest.
Why do I care, you ask? Because I’ve had an unfortunate crush on the insufferable idiot since I was sixteen years old, but I also know it’s never going to happen.
He’s the Creek Falls bachelor to die for, and I’m the Creek Falls racoon lady who puts peanut butter sandwiches out for them every night.
I’m not going to let him break my four-year-long reign—no matter how many times he breaks the rules and slides the curtain across to do the one thing he’s not allowed to:

Kiss me.

New York Times & USA Today bestselling author, Emma Hart, has written more than seventy romance novels in the last decade. She loves writing snarky, swoony romcoms with a side of chaos, occasionally venturing into romantic mysteries. Which are exactly the same as her romcoms, just with a dead body or two. That’s the reason for her questionable Internet history—at least that’s the story she’s sticking to.

She lives on a smallholding in North Wales with her husband and their two children, a clowder of very fluffy cats, one giant German Shepherd, and an undisclosed number of chickens and ducks. Don’t ask her to count them. She will not, thank you very much.

hilarious best friend's brother romance

hilarious best friend's brother romance
I adore Emma Hart and every one of her books have me rolling. Kiss Me Not does not disappoint. I love Halley and Preston. Ava and Reagan, Preston's sister are just as comical as Halley. This book came out just when I needed a dose of comedy in my life. Everyone has their quirks but Halley's is a bit odd. How many people take care of a family of raccoons? She even named them and took them to the vet! Those quirks are what makes her character relatable and adored by the reader. Halley Dawson is the reigning queen of the town's annual Kissing Booth, a four year reign by the way. This year, the mayor has decided to change things up and find Halley some actual competition--Preston Wright. Preston is not only the town's most eligible bachelor but her best friend's older brother. Oh and she's has a crush on him since she was 16. But that's not going to stop Halley from beating Preston. She always wins her bets. Never lost one yet. Preston knows he should tell the mayor no when he called. Being that close to Halley is dangerous. He suspects his sister knows about his secret crush on her best friend, Reagan doesn't say anything. Which that of itself is a shock. Reagan, Ava, and Halley are three women not to be trifled with. Loud, sassy, and in Halley's case sexy as hell. Perhaps this is his window of opportunity with Halley. He needs to at least try. That's why he makes the bet with Halley. He knows that the three girls are constantly betting with each other over stupid things. If he wins, he can finally kiss Halley and either get her out of his system or fall head over heels in love with her. After all, what can go wrong when kissing tons of women while pining after the one kissing the same amount of men?

Kiss Me Not by Emma Hart is the first book in her Kiss Me series. A funny, sarcastic, romantic comedy that centers around three best friends and their unlikely matches. This story in particular focuses on the reigning kissing booth champion and her best friends brother who also happens to be this years kissing booth competition. Creek Falls is a perfect small town setting and Halley and Preston are a wonderful introduction to another small town romance from one of my favorite authors. Add in some quirky grandparents, a family of tame-ish raccoons and this story was complete.

Yet again, Emma Hart brings her signature sass, sarcasm and adorable cuteness. Halley is the local librarian, daughter of the town Mayor, daughter of a serial bride and raccoon feeding lady. Preston is Halley's best friend's brother that she has had a crush on since she was sixteen. As the reigning champion in the Kissing Booth, Halley is unsure who her competition is, until Preston shows up and she realizes that she is going to have to listen to him kissing other women every day for the next week. But when Preston makes it clear that the person he really wants to kiss is Halley, she's not sure what to do. What if it all blows up and she ruins her friendship with Reagan, Preston's sister or he is totally weirded out by the fact that she feeds the wild raccoons? Her flawed relationship with her mother has put a serious dent in Halley's self confidence and Preston will have to prove that he isn't just after a quick fling.

Halley finds out that her competition at the annual kissing booth is her BFF's brother, Preston. Halley has won the competition 4 years in a row and knows she could go down on this one. Preston was sweet, kind and way too nice at times for Halley. She was snarky and downright rude at points. She claimed her feelings would get hurt if she didn't like what someone had to say, but she had no issues speaking her mind about whatever she wanted. The raccoons were adorable and made the story for me. This book would have worked better for me if I had Preston's POV more than I did. I wasn't really fond of Halley and had a hard time figuring out who was speaking when she and her friends got together. The premise of the book was good and I did like the ending.

Sassy and also insecure Halley is creeping in to my heart, lover boy Preston might not be such a playboy after all.
Well described characters that’s developed in to realistic personalities
Storyline that progresses nicely to a happy ending
Secondary characters makes the story even more enjoyable

    Nice 5 stars read.

Kiss Me Not is such a cute, laugh out loud read that you will fall in love with. I love Halley and Preston. Their banter and bets will make you laugh to the point of tears. Halley is so full of heart and I just love how she is with the wildlife. Let's just say you will love Boris and the rest of the trash panda's. Preston is so swoon-worthy. You can't help but fall in love with him. I love the chemistry between Halley and Preston. I want to say so much about this book, but I'm afraid I'll give a lot away in doing so. I'll just say this you will laugh so hard throughout this one and you will be left fanning yourself over Preston and Halley too. Kiss Me Not is a phenomenal start to the Kiss Me series. I for one can't wait for more to come. Go pick this one up today.

This book was so adorable. I loved Halley and Preston, they were so cute together and their story is everything I love in cute, fluffy romcoms. Halley is so snarky and I loved the "Trash Pandas" she takes care of, Boris I think was my favorite the horny bastard, also I love that she makes bets with her friends that she always wins. Preston was also adorable, I mean who doesn't love a guy who knows how to arrange flowers and accepts your "pet" raccoons by bringing them sandwiches. The whole kissing booth thing was also a great background for this story and pushed these two to finally admit how they feel for each other. The only part I would have liked would be if the story didn't take place for the most part during a week, I wished it took place longer than that and that the booth was just the beginning not the whole book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Langweilig, vorhersehbar und wenig erwachsen.
Reviewed in Germany on October 16, 2019
Halley kommt extrem piefig rüber, die sogar ihrer Oma vorschreiben will, was sie anziehen soll.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quirky with the right bit of romance ...
Reviewed in Australia on August 31, 2019
Emma Hart is the queen of RomCom. She is fun, feisty, does quirky original characters that do great banter and has the right amount of sexiness! ‘Kiss Me Not’ is another gem and the true definition of romantic comedy. Kiss Me Not by Emma Hart is the first book in her Kiss Me series. A funny, sarcastic, romantic comedy that centers around three best friends and their unlikely matches.

Halley is the town sweetheart. Her father is the mayor, and she works at the library, she is also the reigning champ of the kissing booth at the town fair which raises a lot of money for charity. However this year, her reign may be over, when her childhood crush and best friends brother becomes her competition for the kissing booth champion. Preston Wright is the most eligible bachelor in Creek Falls. He may have accepted to be Halley’s challenger, but he has ulterior motives...

This book was a quick and light read with just the right amounts of romance added in. Throw in the fact that Halley makes sandwiches for the raccoons in her life and that adds just a little bit of quirky to this book. I’m looking forward for book two!

4.0 out of 5 stars A FUN SLOW BURN ROMANCE
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 26, 2020
Sweet, funny and contains all reasons why I love books by Emma Hart

I listened to Kiss Me Not in audio and was entertained from beginning to end.

The romance is a slow burn, a heart-warming romance where the nerdy girl has a crush on her best friend's brother and her opposition in the kissing booth. Turns out the hot guy that all the girls are queuing up to kiss has had a crush on her for years too.

With laugh out loud moments, two likable characters, well three if you include Boris the randy raccoon, Kiss Me Not is a light-hearted and recommended read.
