The Kissing Contract Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 166 ratings

Marshall Dyson wants one thing and one thing only: to raze his grandfather’s island to the ground. Everything is ready to go—except for the freakin’ bunnies! Hundreds of the furry critters hopping about and multiplying before his eyes. And then there’s the American Bunny League, along with one distractingly beautiful veterinarian, taking him to court to save them...

Dr. Augusta “Gus” North can’t believe the grumpy—and annoyingly hot—builder she’s facing in court cares more about demo-ing some cabin than the lives of 200 bunnies. But when the judge orders Marshall to stay on the island and help her rehome the rabbits—the entire month—she knows they’re going to need to lay some ground rules.

Like, for example, absolutely no kissing. Might as well go ahead and get that in writing. Sure it’s on a napkin, but that still counts.

How hard could it be to keep their hands off each other amidst all the fighting? Surprisingly, harder than wrangling 200 bunnies...

Delightfully silly, cute, and fluffy

Delightfully silly, cute, and fluffy
So, this was delightfully silly, cute, and fluffy. Honestly, I could really give to flips about rescuing bunnies especially with the state of the world we are in, but once I let that go I enjoyed this a lot. Marshall is a total grump who is brought around by a firm, yet sunny, veterinarian who makes him work for every chance he gets with her. Dr. Augusta "Gus" North is the competent heroine of your dreams, who can both wear a suit and heels with aplomb but can also castrate a rabbit in ten minutes or less. The titular "kissing contract" comes about because Gus doesn't want Marshall to distract her while they count and remove the bunnies that have overrun his private island work zone, but they've already kissed once before they make it, so we all know the heat is for real between these two. I adore when characters hook up right away, then deny their feeeeelings and hormones while constantly coming this close to finally being together. Also, there's a loophole found in regards to oral (him on her), and that was a fun good time for me too! I received a free copy in exchange for a fair review

This right here is my kind of read. It is the most entertaining book I have ever read. Yes, it is that good. I spent half of the time reading this book laughing and the other half, squirming in my seat. It made me cry, it filled me up and left me unbelievably happy. This Enemies to Lovers trope is one of my favorite tropes and this one was simply fantastic! It was one of those books I picked up and pretty much didn’t put back down until it was over, because I was so hooked. But that is what Amy Andrews’ books tend to do to me. I am so glad that I found her stories....

I loved these characters, they were such fantastic characters, so full and rich with goodness and so attracted to one another. Their interactions were so full of sass, romance, and underlying passion as well as panty melting chemistry. I could feel their attraction and loved their heat. I thought Marshall was the sweetest man, thoughtful, and caring and oh so sexy! Loved Augusta “Gus” and how she tried to keep her walls up, so independent and fierce with such a soft heart inside. Her outfits and the sayings on them were to die for and so clever.

This story was so hot, funny, sweet, and romantic. It left me with a smile on my face and joy in my heart, as well as being a new bunny lover for giving us this Epically Amazing book. LOL! LOVED IT!!!!!

4 stars — There were parts of this book that were like 5+ stars incredible. So much great humour at times, and in general I found Marshall to be super swoony. Plus, bunnies. Unfortunately, Gus frustrated me on *many* occasions, lowering my final rating.

I know it was probably a bad idea to read a book so heavily featuring rabbits, but I just couldn’t help myself. And in general it felt like the author got a lot right, and actually depicted them as rabbits, instead of like cats and dogs (which I have seen before). I mean, they were picked up a lot more than many like to be, but I’ll give some grace. In general they were just ridiculously adorable, and as expected just made me long for another bunny of my own….

Marshall was actually pretty hilarious — his humour surprised me on many occasions, and I kind of loved how laid back he was, but also how in touch with wanting to grow and learn. That’s hella sexy. The funny thing is my very first impression of him in the courtroom was meh, but he just got better and better with time. I loved the way he teased Gus, I loved the way he really got into the bunny rescue and made connections with some of the bunnyguard. And obviously I loved that he connected with Thumper too… I appreciated that there was a lot going on inside him, and that his past had shaped him dramatically. And I really loved that when taken to task about his decisions in the past, he took the time and put in the effort to try to figure himself out.

Gus, on the other hand, was a mixed bag for me. I loved how passionate and dedicated she was about her job, and the bits of her personality we got to see through there. It was the way she dealt with her past heartbreak and with Marshall that left me wanting. For all that she talked about being haughty, she truly was a prissy heroine. I never quite connected with her heartbreak over Rick, it’s like I didn’t see it but was merely told it. As such, I truly didn’t understand her reactions to her attraction to Marshall. I just didn’t get her. I hated the way she pushed him away, and tried to minimize things. I hated the way she put so much of it on Marshall (which, he had his problems too), instead of owning up to her own problems. I hate that somehow she got over her heartbreak, but it just sort of happened without the reader seeing it — it was super unsatisfying to not get to see her learn and grow. *sigh*

The two together had pretty good chemistry, when Gus could get out of her own way. I mostly enjoyed their comradery though. *shrugs*

I loved seeing Marshall’s relationship with his brother Jeremy, and how close they were. I also really enjoyed some of the characters in the bunnyguard, particularly Ray.

All in all, Marshall and the bunnies made this book. It easily could have been a book I gushed over if Gus had gotten the same depth and leeway that Marshall did. Ah well, I will still look back at my highlights and laugh!

I didn’t think there was such a thing as *too much* drawn-out sexual tension, but I actually got a little sexual-tension fatigued about half-way through and didn’t pick up the book for a few days. That’s not to say I didn’t like it – I loved Augusta and Marshall. I loved the banter, I loved their inner dialogue (never heard the term ‘muff dive’ before lol), and I loved that HE loved her intelligence and efficiency. I loved the setting and the Bunnyguards and Thumper and, well, just about everything about this story! And the ‘almost sex’ scenes were super H-O-T (I might have to read them again). So hot, in fact, that when they finally did the deed, it almost paled in comparison. I loved the way Gus forced Marshall to take a good look at his past – his childhood and relationships – before they could find their HEA.

This book definitely falls into the category of Top 10 Favorite Books of All Time for me. I laughed so much. The story, characters, and the bunnies gave me a much-needed vacation/escape from all the stresses of life and that's exactly what I wanted and needed.

Gus and Marshall were an absolute pleasure to spend time with. The "Bunnyguards" were adorable and made me want to join the ABL. Thumper and Rambo totally stole my heart. And that shower scene, Angel 1 and Angel 2... I about died from laughter.

This book was everything I hoped for and more. Love Amy Andrews' books.

They help each other heal while safely re-homing all the bunnies. This is sweet, sexy and at times emotional story that will keep you turning the pages.
