Typically Sarah's books are steamy, suspenseful and rife with twists and turns, but after writing dozens of novels, she's still looking for that new and exciting thing to get stuck into and tends to try out new genres when the mood suits.

What you can always be sure of from a Sarah Michelle Lynch novel is that there will be strong, complex characters, dynamics you never saw coming, a lot of curveballs along the way - not to mention sights, sounds and scents that truly transport you to another place. She makes no apologies for writing stunning sex scenes that are never boring. Those are what her readers demand and she unashamedly continues to produce books that are real, gritty and full of genuine character.

    This is a tricky one for me to review because it was longer than a lot of the books I read and moved at a slower, deeper pace; it's a genre I haven't read much of (romantic suspense); and a lot sexier than I usually go for. 😳

    It kind of snuck up on me in waves. Initially, I thought I could take it or leave it, but as I stuck with it, I soon found I didn't want to put it down. There was an undercurrent of suspense throughout, as if I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop, even once I had figured it out... because I could never be quite sure if something bad was about to happen.

    Caelan and Flora both have darkness in their pasts, and Caelan sounds like an absolute Scottish hunk, from the accent to the kilt, to the peak-of-fitness SAS body. Their romance is raw and enticing. I wanted them to work out, but I was afraid one might end up killing the other!

    Overall, this is a well-written romantic suspense novel that I would recommend reading when you have time to take it in and absorb the ambience. Be prepared for the sexiness though, it might be one best read at home rather than on the commute to work! 😉
