Now back in the San Francisco Bay Area, Katie retains a strong connection to Japan and leads frequent study trips to Japan for leaders looking to deepen their knowledge of lean leadership, the Toyota Way, and Japanese culture.
Katie holds a BA with honors from Stanford University and was a Fulbright Scholar in Australia, where she received her Master’s degree in public health from Sydney University. Katie lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, two sons, nearly a dozen chickens and hundreds of daruma dolls. When she is not traveling around the world, you can find her in her back- yard with her family, on a bike traversing the hills of Northern California, or trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
Katie remains passionate about helping people around the world learn to lead and lead to learn. Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn is Katie’s first nonfiction business book.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2024Katie's Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn Workbook is a superset of her impactful book, Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn. If you want to examine and improve your leadership practices significantly, you will want to use both texts together.
My experience (and recommendation) is to (a) Read her book and note where you are struggling or have questions. Focus on the "Practicing Hansei/Reflection Questions" at the end of most chapters. (b) Then, slowly start working through her workbook and follow Katie's guidance to return to her book as prescribed. Prepare to go slowly and allow time for personal reflection (and revision of your workbook outcomes.)
Unlike most "workbooks," Katie's workbook magnifies, amplifies, and (greatly) clarifies and creates opportunities for significant understanding and improvement of your leadership practices when you allow sufficient time to engage each page, section, and lesson.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2023Amazing book! Completely recognizable and relatable happenings from mister Yoshino! Thank you Katie for writing this book. A must read if you want to take the step to people-centered leadership! Loved every single word!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2021I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy of the Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn workbook. If You've Read Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn, This is a Must Have Companion! If you haven't yet read Katie Anderson's Best Seller, do not pass go, do not collect $200, purchase it now and top it off with this amazing companion workbook! This workbook takes all of the lessons on leading with intention and aligning your actions with your purpose to practical applications and as a result, a deeper understanding. Your journey towards more intentional leadership starts with Katie's book and continues as you work through the workbook. Have you ever wanted to gain clarity on your purpose? Learn how to identify your top priority goal (for yourself, or your teams) and how to support them to achieve this goal? Create a plan for your personal improvement? If yes, to any of these, this is just what you need. My journey is only getting started, but this workbook has launched me into my pursuit to become more effective leader and taught me how to lead with intention. If I could, I would give this 10 stars, it's a game changer in my leadership journey! Well done, Katie!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2021Within my hands, Anderson’s book Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn found itself covered in book marks, highlights and copious notes. Not only did the book initially reveal profound knowledge of leadership and managerial concepts from within the realms of Mr Isao Yoshino at Toyota, it became my referral guide. There was something amiss though.
I wanted to cognitively conceptualise the learning even more. And then it happened. Anderson released the work book! I have had the privilege of early access to the digital copy, which is masterfully made to practice and reinforce the concepts of the book.
Working through this work book has deeply embedded the learnings that has helped me internalise and master these leadership traits into habits that have had a profound impact on my thinking. Truly, this is a book that will leave a legacy for years to come, and it will always be my go-to.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2021I received an advanced preview copy of the "Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn Workbook" and worked through it as I was listening to the audiobook version of "Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn."
For me, the exercises in this workbook really stood out. It's one thing to hear a concept and think "oh I should try that." It's another thing entirely to actually jump in and practice those ideas - and really challenge yourself to think deeper. The workbook gave me the structure to practice reflection and translate all my thoughts and values into meaningful actions and behavior. I feel like I'm building stronger habits of living and interacting with intention now, and reflecting regularly, AND identifying the opportunities and next steps from situations that might otherwise have felt negative.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2021I had the pleasure of receiving an advanced copy of this workbook, and I found it a beautiful companion piece to the book, "Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn" as well as a stand alone tool to help me, not just read the stories, but apply them directly to my life in meaningful and reflective ways. Katie find a way to push me to think differently -- and deeper -- about how I can really show up and be the leader that I want to be. I finished the workbook with tangible ways to make that happen!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2022This workbook is an excellent companion to Katie's book "learning to Lead, Leading to Learn". It helps put the learnings from Isao Yoshino into practice in a simple set of exercises and reflection questions that you can work through and reflect on your own learning and leadership. Along with Katie's Accelerator course these 3 resources should be required learning for every aspiring leader. I highly recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2021This workbook is the perfect companion to Katie's book! Great way to reinforce concepts and really cement the ideas in your brain through exercises and writing. I love having a place to write my thought's and insights down to reinforce what I have read. This workbook is the perfect tool to achieve more as a leader. It provides the roadmap to put plans into action!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rediscover you purpose and leadership sparkle
I used this workbook alongside the book Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn. Great way of reflecting and rediscovering my purpose and leadership style to support a CI programme. I would consider using it again in the future because the learning I got from working through the workbook is based on where I am at this point in time. In another year the insights and learning from these will change. Recommend this to anyone discovering what leadership of the future looks like for them and their teams.
