4.1 out of 5 stars 104 ratings

“Nobody tells you how one moment, one decision, can change the course of your entire life.”

Kit Briar is starting over. At thirty-three, he thought he had his life planned out, but a devastating revelation sends him back to his hometown, desperate to make a life for himself and his son.

“Sometimes, a single kiss can lead a person down a road they never expected.”

Lawson Craig never meant to fall in love with his hot new neighbor, his life's complicated enough. Except Kit and his young son fulfill a void he didn't know he had. The more he tries to fight against the mutual attraction, the harder it is to stay away.

“If it came down to it, I’d let him go. I’d let him go because he deserves someone so much better than me.”

Lawson and Kit find themselves in a whirlwind romance. They fall hard and fast, but every choice comes with consequences and neither of them are prepared for what happens when their blissful bubble pops. They’ll have to learn to trust in each other and what they’re trying to build in order to get the happy ending they’ve both always wanted. When every road seems to lead to heartbreak, how will they ever find forever?

I’m the type of reader who loves to be challenged. I want a book to hit me in the feels and if it can make me think deeper about a subject, I love it even more. Abrianna Denae hit this out of the park.

First, I want to say how much I love the storyline itself. There’s such a richness and vividness to it. That alone makes the book special. It’s also one of those rare books that had me yelling at the pages over characters’ decisions. And yet…that’s the beauty of it. The author wrote it so well, I felt completely immersed in their story.

This wasn’t an easy book for me, by any means. The moral dilemma posed is a tough one that my initial gut reaction was no, there’s no room for ambiguity here. However, it becomes very clear throughout the book that there’s so much more than goes into that decision and the ripples of making it.

It left me with the quandary of do I root for these two to be together and if so what does it mean? I loved that. I loved the pushback from this book, being forced to look at my ideals and wonder what-ifs. I especially appreciated the careful research the author did on the topic and how she weaved that into the storyline.

This book is unconventional. It won’t be for everyone. But for me? It’s my top read this year. I can’t wait for more in this series. I have a feeling Abrianna Denae will take me through that rollercoaster of emotions every single time and I’m here for it.

I will give this book a 4/5. The main characters are Kit, who is recently divorced and has son, and Lawson who is married. The two men meet as Kit is moving into his new house and they share a passionate kiss. Soon Lawson finds out about Kit’s son and Kit finds out that Lawson is married. It is quite ironic because Kit’s wife cheated on him. Now he is kissing a married man. It was interesting that both men seamlessly went from being interested in their wives to being wanting each other. The guilt that these two characters suffer overshadows that they are supposed to be straight. This book tackles concerns about infidelity and monogamy. Even with all that, the book was interesting enough for me to want to read more in the series.

Finally, I got my hands on a cheating book. Sorry that behavior seems to be a big red X but it is a fact of life more than people would like to think. I don’t condone it but I like books that touch real issues make me stop and think. This story sure did that. Kit, with great family connections, is dealing with being a single dad after his wife cheated on him and left him. He is struggling with being the one cheated on. As he moves to be closer to his family, he is introduced to a new next-door neighbor. Larson is another personality all together. Irritating and loveable. He owns a bakery and has fallen into a routine life with his wife that has lost its excitement. When these two meet its almost instant attraction. They do quite a dance around each other as friends and ….
I love the family support that Kit and his family provide each other. I feel Lindon is a portrayed a little older than a four-year-old but probably needed for the story to fit. I think there are plenty of twists and I wondered which way the guys would decide what they were going to do. This is a great story with a lot of being so close to reality that I thanked the author for providing me with something that wasn’t all fluff. I’m anxious to see the next in this series.

If you are looking for an easy romance, this book probably won't be for you. Now, if you are looking for a real-life, hard fought romance, this is the book for you. These two were made to be together even if the timing was not ideal they are perfect together. The child comes before, even with tensions, the child comes first. What else can you ask for in a loving relationship that is meant to last.
Yes, I cried because yeah, it was hard fought, but wow, was it moving and powerful, something I've come to expect from an Abrianna book. They do not write your cookie cutter romance they write real-life true romance that is meant to last.

A good story this might give you some pause on the idea of having an affair. I don’t condone cheating at all but sometimes I think it is just going to happen in a unhappy marriage, while I am very much of the view that you should end the marriage if that is what your doing it might not always be that simple. This isn’t as dramatic as I thought it would be but a good story.

I’m not sure how long this was sitting in my app but when I was looking for something to read this showed up. Since this is a new author for me, I read some of the reviews. One stood out, they DNF because they don’t condone cheating. In my opinion, they should have kept reading it. I’m the same, cheating isn’t my thing but I understand why some do it.

Kit and his son, Linden, just relocated after Kit’s divorce to start a new life. Last thing he expected was his cute neighbor stopping by to welcome him to the area. They both have been through a lot but find themselves growing closer every time they hang out. But when a bomb throws their budding relationship into a tale spin, will they be strong enough to survive it??

I need more of these characters especially Weston, Landry and the twins. 🖤🔥😊🔥🖤

MM, Contemporary, Romance. Easy to read page-turner with an emotional and steamy story. I really enjoyed reading their story as their relationship evolved. First book in series but reads as a stand-alone. Guaranteed HEA.

I liked the writing and the characters although there were too many of them that I lost count of how many grandchildren there were. I did not like the subject matter so I didn't enjoy the story much.
