So addicted to Jessica's words!

So addicted to Jessica's words!
LIGHT MY FIREEEEEE!!!!! Yes, it's the title of the book but it is also what Jessica does to you when you read her books, lights all your feelings on fire. I have loved every single thing she has written and that doesn't always happen because sometimes you don't fall for the characters or you can't really get into the plot or the pace of the book is too fast or too slow......when I started Light my Fire I fell into it immediately, partly because I am so drawn into the WAY Jessica writes and mostly because I'm pulled into WHAT she writes. Yes, it's about sex and rock & roll and the mafia but as always there's a message that is intimately woven into the the fabricate of her books. I applaud the way Jessica includes different cultures, backgrounds, circumstances and walks of life. I love learning things I didn't know about or probably would never have heard of, it's so important to show all types of representations and I loooooove that about her books! I want to give you as much  information as I can but I don't want to spoil a thing because you're definitely going to want to uncover every little morsel for yourself. Ten year old Elira and her family are from Kosovo, things aren't going so well....a war is brewing. She lives with  her brother, mother, and father (who is a main party leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army) Albanians in Kosovo want to be free from Serbian rule. Immediately things go side ways and the family members that survive are smuggled into the USA mostly thanks to eighteen year old Nico who is also a fighter for the cause, a very close family friend and the boy Elira thinks hung the moon. Years pass, things aren't as perfect in America as Elira thought but they could be worse, she's in school, has a job and the very best friend and then one day she meets Jack....sexy, soulful up and coming rock star and everything changes and as feelings start to form Elira is hit with two life changing situations, her brother needs her to help him get out of some serious trouble and that boy she loved? He's now a ruthless man, head of the The Mafia Shqiptare and when I tell you he'll stop nothing to have her.....yea, he MEANS it! Guys! I can't wait for you to read this one it's so intense, dark, dangerous, action packed, complicated, spine-tingling, gripping and HOT!!  You won't be able to stop thinking about Nico!

This was a shorter read than I normally like. The chemistry between the H and h was off the charts. I fell in love with Nico and Elira. They made an amazing ing couple.

Here's my truth: I am a Mafiawhore. It's my cross to bear. I am a complete and total addict. I do not discriminate. I am an equally opportunity mafia ho. This is my first Albanian mafia book though. I had legit first date jitters and squealed like a tween at a Shawn Mendes concert.

Jessica Ruben opened a new world for me. She started it with the intensely gorgeous cover that personifies Nico 110%. Next, she educated the reader without a "boring history lesson". Nothing about this book is a forceful learning; I actually found myself wanting to learn more. The culture, the history, the devastation all add to the vibe of the book without being a lecture. I love that Ruben recreates the environment for the reader. The hostile, unease of a war ravaged country seen through the eyes of a young girl feels real! You experience glimpses of Elira's world that highlight the differences between her and American kids. It is important to the story and her as a person. I really loved the depth of her character. Elira is complex. She's real. She is loyal, loving, and feisty. She holds her family in esteem, her ideals, and her self worth are important to her. She is a Queen.

Okay, I know I'm fangirling over Elira. I know it sounds like I want in her pants...but maybe I just love that she owns herself. As a person she is vulnerable and real while also trying to hold her own in a difficult world. Plus...she gets NICO!!!!! What's not to be jealous of!?!?!

So Nico...I will pretend that the gorgeous cover model is not in my fantasies. I can even pretend that his accent has nothing to do with the drool running down my chin. His dominance and power have nothing to do with the fact that I am practically panting typing this...NOTHING-right! (can you hear the sarcasm or should I turn it up?) No, my fangirling over the hotter than sin Albanian mafia boss is the soul connection they have. My hopeless romantic heart clung to that childhood connection like a baby calf to its mother after birth! I will never let go of that amazing connection. I will dream about it at night and be jealous of it (even though I am living my own HEA). Nico and Elira are their own brand of destiny.

I want to say that I wasn't disappointed but I am. Don't laugh! I want more. I wanted to be left hanging. I wanted Jessica Ruben to dangle the next book in the series like she did Vincent and Eve. I wanted to hate her and beg her at the same time. Light My Fire does not end on a cliffhanger. I suppose that's a good thing but I'm needy. I want more. I want a tease of what's to come. I want more dark foreboding...I want!!!!!!

So did I love this book...duh!
Do I want more...did you read the above!?!
Do I have any idea what's happening next...not a clue!
Now I want to cry! (shakes fist at Jessica Ruben- give me a clue!!!!)

Story was great , in the beginning, explaining how their life was. The MMC story was well written in the beginning of the book also the FMC . Then towards the end the story line went into the trash , rushed made no sense …. to many loose ends.
Plot , climax the end baada bem baada boom!!!!!! (Meaning end of story was rushed).

I enjoyed this story. It was kind of a lost love/second chance romance. Elira and Nico are pretty electric and it was beautiful to have their relationship unfold like it did. However, when you mention "mafia", I figured there would be more action to it. This was a sweet rekindling of two people. I guess that was my only disappointment but it didn't kill the story...see what I did there?
Anyways, I was delighted in this book and am curious about more coming from this world.

I enjoy this book and liked it. I did feel it was a bit rushed towards the end. It spent a lot of time developing the main character that the conflict/plot came out of nowhere and were quickly resolved. Would have enjoyed it more had it been more fleshed out. Overall still a good read and I loved the fmc sarcastic attitude.

This book....how do I even begin? If you want a book that you can’t stop reading and is a constant page turner, THIS-IS-IT! Right from the start, the author portrays a setting so deep that you can’t pause to find out what happens next. Not only that, but the Albanaian mafia is not as discussed as say the Italian air Russian mafia’s are, so you are even more intrigued....with that being said, Jessica Ruben truly lets you understand who the main characters are as individuals, what they want, how their minds work and why they...well, I cant just give the book away ;). You need to read this NOW! Enjoy!!!!

Very good read, kept me interested, and yet there was something missing…. Something that would hinch me more into it, more passion & that great chemistry between Elira & Nico, characteristic for mafia romances. Two soul mates that know each other basically all their lives, separated by war, finding each other back years later.

    Overall I enjoyed reading it.

A slow burn, but worth the read. World building is good, character development is good, I just wish the tired old cliche of the FMC being kidnapped would go away. She’s grabbed twice in this book and it doesn’t make the read exciting but boring. So predictable, come on, time for something new. This is an easy read, no serious grammar or editing errors.
