I love the mafia genre and this book offers an extremely unique perspective. Michelle Brown really added a level of complexity and put the focus on a strong female lead while allowing chemistry with the male lead as well. Not an easy feat! Are there parts that are pretty common to the genre? Of course. However, Michelle really focused on character development which I greatly appreciated. She also knows how to add to a story so it's not just linear, there are more aspects to focus on enhancing the book overall. I'm addicted to this book, was unable to stop reading it and can't wait for the next so I know what happens!
The Reaper Review
The second book by Michelle Brown continues to show her level of excellence. The first book was really good and this one was even better.
I love the way the author does character development. Having a strong female lead is especially important and a man who knows how to stand by a woman’s side? Perfect. The character development builds through both books. While it may seem slow to some, I think the author took immense care in the development and treated her characters with respect. It truly shows how much it takes for Rosie to find herself as the boss and as a woman. I especially love that Michelle Brown will be continuing in the world she creates with the sneak peek she gave for her next book. I want to know everything there is to know about the world she created which is a true testament of great writing.
I loved seeing such a merciless couple in such a delicious way. I absolutely could not put it down. I even carried my kindle around as I made breakfast so I didn’t have to stop reading!
Surreptitious
Few novellas have ever reached my soul and heart like this one did. Michelle Brown knows how to weave perfection with her words and elicit powerful emotions. This is a unique M/M mafia novella and it exceeds everything I had expected.
The character development Michelle was able to incorporate in a short read is phenomenal. There are no one-dimensional characters and it is impossible not to fall in love with Roman and Martin. The world building had me believing I was right there with the characters.
This story is intense. There are no words to describe the mastery of it. The author took me everywhere from crying to needing to curl into a ball to even cursing her name. Most of all it left me with the deep satisfaction of addictive words from a must read book.
Expect to be put through the wringer, to be tested and most of all to become even more obsessed with the author’s words.
5 stars for an emotionally captivating perfect read! Highly recommend.

Amazing debut! So honored to beta and see this book come to fruition. Nothing is more fun to read than a strong, lethal woman in power brought to her knees by her perfect match!!! Anthony is a quiet force that oozed sexy, let me tell you. I giggled at the power play, each reluctant to submit fully, the tension off the charts as they circled each other like a predator stalking prey. I loved how all the unknowns started to come to light slowly, knowing that you are being fed breadcrumbs to what comes next. Perfect doses of action, heat, and amusing quotables that need teasers STAT!! I fell in love with these characters and I cannot wait to see how it turns out!

A fabulous debut from a brand new author!
Michelle has blossomed in her writing, and the characters coming to life in her work. It was truly a fantastic experience working with her on this.
I loved the premise of the story with a female mafia boss, it was a refreshing new take on a typically male dominated job. Rosalina takes this sterotype, throws it to the ground and stomps all over it in stylish high heels while giving the boys a run for their money.
It was interesting seeing Rosalina adjusting to her new role as head of the organisation and the obstacles facing her. Rosalina is a fiercely independent and bloodthirsty character which made her incredibly fun to read about, and she will get just as down and dirty as any man in the business and while giving it her own brutally feminine twist.
Anthony is an intriguing character, he comes across as quite laid back in some aspects, but also very protective of Rosalina, he may be the only one who can bring Rosalina to her knees, but will she bow down and accept him or fight for her right to lead? There is still an air of mystery about him. I cant wait to find out more about him, what lies behind that handsome face and makes him tick?
The Reaper 5*****
What a sequel! Michelle has really outdone herself with this one. The Reaper is bloodthirsty, sinister as duck and has so much blood on his hands they'll never come clean. A perfect match for Rosalina with a dark side that keeps pace with hers.
A slow build up to the crescendo when the action and fun stuff really gets going. There were some intense powerful scenes in this that really brought out the characters, a few that left me breathless, aand some that chilled me to the bone
I loved how Rosalina's character grew into her role as this story progressed until she is a confident, darkly elegant yet brutal boss. Anthony, a with mysterious past now come to light, well he is one crazy bastard when he gets going, not a guy to piss off, nope! His scenes gradually get darker and darker, one in particular left me wide-eyed in absolute shock at how vicious can be when the occasion calls for brutality and violence.
I'm loving watching this author come into her own and finding her words and stories, seeing the development from book to book.
Surreptitious 5*****
Michelle Brown has ripped out my heart and smeared it across the pages.
For a short novella this had depth, strong character development and a story I couldn't bear to see end. The bond between the characters and the story itself was off the charts. This one absolutely wrecked me, I was sobbing like a little girl and cursing her name to the ends of the earth for bringing me to my knees like she did.
Some parts had me gasping, squirming with the naughty look on my face, laughing, and then my hand over my mouth with tears streaming down my face to cover my kindle.
I have only seen improvement after improvement from this author, and I am always eager to see what she delivers next.
Roman is MINE, hands off.

1.0 out of 5 stars There goes a few hours of my life I wont get back
A less than ok read, this book just lacked that special something. There was a rushed feeling to the writing that was irritating. It was the kind of story that strides from key event to key event without adding depth.
In the story, the h witnesses the rape and murder of her sister at age 8, her brother is killed before her eyes at the same time. She then manages to kill a man and her parents return. The h is then sent away for a decade of fight and weapon training. She returns at age 20 to take charge of her family's cartel with all the problems that come with that. The author somehow managed to cover these events with as much feeling as my recount here.
My other problem was dealing with a h who was a bit stupid. I was hoping for a darker h, given her family and life experiences. Yet this mafia leader was the sort to obsess over her shoes and go jogging without weapons or security...in a mobtown in MEXICO! After TEN years of learning weapons! Eh... cue eyeroll... She then comes to rescue a woman on her jog and rather than using her training to disable the man attacking the stranger, she talks to him and whacks him behind the knees with a bar. Of course he goes to attack her and gets in lots of hits (note she is surprised the big guy is able to pack a punch that hurts) and she didn't deflect any. Hmm, time for a refund from the decade of training to become a human weapon thanks -.-
All of the above is the start of the book. It was so disappointing I just skimmed my way through most of the rest. If you want a mafia story that is dark, edgy and has strong characters, then give this one a miss.
