About the author

Melissa Adams is from the UK but was born in Italy and grew up between the two countries. She’s now UK based and her day job is connected her other huge passion after writing and reading: flying. She lived in the US and got herself a super hot Yankee husband who followed her back to Europe.
Her obsessions: Yorkshire terriers and Norse gods!
She’s often heard saying that she never trusts people who don’t love animals.
Her passions have been reading and writing from an early age and her first adventure in writing was in journalism.
Melissa’s stories focus on the romance, on character development and on the sensual aspect of love. Summer romance is her absolute first love but every story she writes has a mystery twist because life is nothing but a mystery.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAbsolutely loved this book! I know there's haters out there saying this book has trigger warning about rape and underage sex. Well yes there is mention about rape and yes there's a scene when the main character gets attacked by this supposed rapist but let me tell you this, it does not go into deep detail. As for the sex scenes, its about a girl exploring her sexuality with her partner's. Most every teen goes through this in life, so why is it horrible if it's written in a book? This book is sweet and is about a girl who is finally coming out of her shell, finding new things about herself she did not know.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWell written story, that pulls you in instantly. Clary is a 16 year old girl. She not only deals with limited freedom to actually do, well anything really, but has monitored internet and TV access while at home, with focus being on her studies only. Summer camp is her escape every summer, and this First Summer winds up being one to remember. Enjoy not only friends and freedom, but hot boys, romance, mean girl drama, and even a few close encounters with those who wish to do her harm. Will she get through the summer unchanged, or will she grow into herself and become the person she wants to be?
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseNormally I am more to "hot burn" books, but this one I found really hard to put down whenever I was reading - causing me some uhmmm... all-nighters I think.
I really think this book describes the first love and that teen exploration very well. No matter how the standards are in the states, in Europe this would not be considered to describe teens too young to think, plan, and to do as described in the book.
There is a lot of love, tension and I was in tears several times.
There is talk about rape, stalkers, and some violence. So if easily triggered, then it's probably not for you.
I can't wait to find out what happens next in Clarie's journey with her boys...
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have heard a lot about this book and decided to read it despite some of the unsavory reviews I have read. I do like RH, but this is not what I was expecting. First of all, Clary is only 16. Generally, even by Amazon standards, anything considered YA cannot have such explicit sex in it, especially when Clary is a minor and some of the people she is involved with are over 18 and authority figures. It is really uncomfortable how sex and boy obsessed Clary and her friends are. Just to be clear, I have no issue ready adult RH with tons of heat. This is just creepy because they're technically girls and men.
Also, the editing is terrible in this book. The formatting is completely incorrect and the lack of contractions in the dialogue is indicative of a new writer who doesn't understand how to write conversational fiction versus an essay. The dialogue is very immature and stilted. There is a lot of missing, or wrong, punctuation which can make slogging through the paragraphs difficult and causes a lot of back tracking.
There is potential for this to be a great read if ages were changed and an editor got their hands on this. I am surprised by all of the five star reviews honestly. As an avid reader, and a nonjudgmental one at that who loves to read everything, this book made me uncomfortable.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book captures the essence of teenagers on the very beginning of their sexual journies.
Adams has crafted a beautiful story around Clary, a newly developed young woman aching to find her place in the world. Sheltered by overzealous parents, summer camp is her one escape from a strict regimen of study and monitored internet and TV access.
The camp is run by an old family friend, but the campers and the counsellors are a whole different ball game.
Mean girls, creepy guys, good friends and hotties galore - it's going to be a summer that Clary will never forget.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseHonestly this book was great! I loved the way the guys blend so well together and they take such good care of Clary. I really enjoyed the way Carly handles herself in a lot of the situations as well. I feel that she is super mature for her age. This book relates to a lot of the younger crowd as they adventure into the sexual world while trying to escape the over protective home life. That is one of my favorite things about this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great debut
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWe follow a 16 year old girl on her first experiences with relationships during summer camp. The age range of the characters in the book at camp are between 15 and 21 and there was not really an age difference in behaviour, which was a bit of a shame. You kinda expect the older characters to be a bit better behaved, but all they were was just more experienced. In my head I just made the characters all around 17/18 and did not think more of the ages, but maybe it is different for the rich and privelidged and they just grow up differently, in my head the story worked perfectly well with 18 year olds.
You can notice it the writer hasn't written a lot of books before and still is growing in her writing style. Some of the time it feels a bit like 'this that and this and than that' Some of the thinks described don't necessary have to be described (we don't have to know what everyone is wearing or what they are eating every single meal)
But those are the only slightly negative things I have to say about the book, the story is good. I liked the communication between the characters instead of the normal teenage hormone reactions to any situation. Even though this book includes several boys, the relationship she has with each is unique and seperate from the others, which you don't see often in these kinda books. All in all is a very good debut for the writer and I have already picked up book 2 to read and I am curious how it all continues.
Message to the author: keep it up, I think you have plenty of stories to tell and the way you have written the different relationships in a reverse harem book is perfect.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love this book
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI was missing books like this one... Such a great reading by a new author that I found by accident! The story revolves around Clary and the boys that she meets in summer camp and you can see their relationship evolving through the book.
I really like how the MC knows what she wants despite her age and is not afraid to go for it and I especially liked the sexy scenes!
I wont say more to avoid spoilers but if you like books by authors like C L Stone and Brandy Slaven you'll love this one.
I'm really looking forward for book 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good start to a new series
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhat I loved most about this book was the believable storyline. It wasn't forced or over the top the issues were relatable and well developed. The characters were well rounded with real emotions and pain that everyone can relate to. There were some grammatical errors but they were easy to read through with how good the book was. It was a relatable book. You can picture the environment and the events. You can see how it unfolds, you recognise the emotions. It rugs at your heart and it enfolds you in it’s embrace. A beautiful book and a great start to a new series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMC Clary is a 16 yo with strict parents, plenty of money, big emotions and a curiosity that leads her on adventures and into the arms of her men! An easy read with plenty of action, intense emotion and a rollercoaster that leads to Clary coming into herself.

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed reading this novel very much and I am looking forward to book 2 of the series. The challenges presented are quite believable in many respects and are age appropriate to teenage issues in most respects.
