    Ok, I seriously think there should have been some kind of semblance of groveling from the MMC. He literally left her for 10 years, never said good bye and never contacted her. Then after 10 years he just shows up and says “I’m sorry” once and that’s it. He then proceeds to do nothing with her that is special, they go on one date in 2 1/2 months but text and talk all the time, which you don’t see, they only talk about. They don’t really have a lot of interactions that say “I have been in love with you for 10 years” and I will make up for that time away. It’s just basic interactions. She does all the heavy lifting and then he drops her and again “football is his true love” and she once again goes out of her way to make it to a game of his where all he says is “sorry”. And everything isn’t ok per se but he needed to do a bit more for all that he had done to her. He did the minimum.

    Oh my stars - this book gave me that warm fuzzy feeling in my heart. I fell in love with the story, the writing and the characters in the first chapter. And the recipes!! - My mouth was watering the whole time reading. I wanted to pull my apron out, slap some flour on the counter and make myself a homemade pie! And not to be outdone - I was also drooling for the sexy quarterback hero Bryan Brennan.

    Lexi and Bryan’s is story of young, unrequited love that was just not meant to be as Bryan desperately wanted out of their small hometown to prove himself and outrun his past. My heart ached at the 10 years they spent apart, both missing and desperate for the other without the other knowing. I can’t tell you the number of times my heart squeezed with sympathy for the heartache the characters were feeling over each other and the love they both so desperately wanted. The story was the perfect mix of past and present - plus heartwarming revelations of love and of course a HEA. I would highly recommend this book! Five Apple Pie Stars for me!

I laughed, cried, smiled, and swooned right along with the characters. I also loved having past characters there and seeing them after their stories had ended, which is probably one of my favorite aspects of Kathryn's writing: the characters' lives are so intertwined we never really have to say goodbye.     This book is surprisingly introspective from the perspective of both characters. I love how both characters are so vulnerable and compassionate, while also being so determined and independent. Kathryn Andrews has managed to develop both Lexi and Bryan’s voices so well!

    Needless to say, I love love love all the beautiful recipes and the way they are incorporate into all the significant moments. As someone for whom food is also love, this aspect really touched me.

    I have become a tried and true Andrews fan!

    So sweet, sexy, sad, AND uplifting!

    Lexi and Bryan grew up together. She with a family and love, he with a stepdad that didn't want him. But, James and Lexi and Gigi would become the family Bryan didn't have...problem being, he never felt worthy. Que leaving early for college without a word and never looking back for ten years.

    These two are both strong as well as independent and yet, both are very vulnerable. Both alone in their own way. Together they are strong but, Bryan's own self doubt may just cause it all to slip away...after he just got Lexi back.

    This book was a roller coaster ride of emotion. I loved the friendships created in this book and I loved the excitement of the football games as well as the fresh opportunities (amidst all the bad luck on the homeowner front!) that came Lexi's way for her business. Even with all the sadness of the past, this book was still uplifting and heartwarming. Looking forward to reading the third book.
