Let Him Go: Natexus Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 247 ratings

There was life before Alex Law, and there was life after him.

The new boy in town wasn’t meant to be standing by my side the night my sister died, but there he stayed, determined to make me live and fall in love, one new adventure at a time.

Too bad for me that not all first loves are made to last, for Alex had secrets of his own he was desperate to keep hidden, and when those secrets came to light because of me, it was over before it had ever even begun.

I had to let him go…

But Alex wasn’t the kind of guy to stay gone for long, and when he came back into my life only five years later, the boy had turned into a man who was determined to win back what he’d thrown away.

Whether I wanted him to or not.

That stupid, tragic first love of mine.

4.5 stars. This book had everything I love about about friends to lovers and second chances. Natalie is the girl who stares at the ground and doesn't notice her surroundings because she's too absorbed in her own mind and grief. Yet on the worst day of her life, she meets the most important person in her life, too, Alex Law. Their friendship developed slowly, but Alex never gave up on trying to make Natalie smile until they are best friends. Natalie is the sort of girl who doesn't go out of her way to impress anyone or succumb to peer pressure. She has a stark honesty about her, too, and I loved how her friends were so supportive and caring, wanting the best for her, but never tried to change her or abandon her. As for Alex, he manages to slip past Natalie's walls and into her heart but Natalie fears that her feelings are one-sided because Alex is firm about staying friends.

Both Natalie and Alex have their own crosses to bear and take turns being the other person's anchor. But when Natalie tries to do that for Alex, it escalates and Natalie is heartbroken. I admired Natalie for standing up for herself and others. Her compassion and forgiveness runs deep and she demonstrates the kind of strength that is rock solid and resilient. I loved the angst, the emotion and the storyline. The characters were well portrayed. There were so many questions about Alex, some of which I could fill in the blanks easily, but I wasn't quite prepared for his full confession which surprised me on Natalie's behalf. I also enjoyed Natalie not falling vulnerable to his charms immediately the second time around. The ending was perfect for the characters but I am definitely glad there is a follow-up story because I do want to see a little bit more in terms of what's next for them.

I’m reading this series out of order, so I was already in love with Marcus when I began to read about Alex and Nat... hence the 4stars, not 5. But wow, the writing is so good, the emotions so intense. What I particularly like about the book is how there are so many options, yet there is only one the heart wants. Lovely stuff. It’ll take a little time to process everything this made me feel.

Oh my… My My My My My- I honestly don’t know what to say or how to start this. This author rips your heart out and at times you are not sure if it will be put back together before the story ends.

Getting about 25% into the book and wanting to know how messed up I was going to be when I finished this story, their story. So I did it.. I went to the last chapter and read it before continuing. I needed to know just how bad my heart was going to break. I’ve never had to do that before.

Alex and Natalie, Natalie and Alex. Natexus- All the Way!

Teenage love… You never know if it will last, how it will last. The ups and downs, finding out who you are and who everyone else is around.

”Never let the end of one thing stop you from ending the beginning of another”

Natalie knew love, but she also was unfortunate enough to have lost as well. Grieving the of a loved one is never easy. Never something you’re truly prepared for but, when the time came- he was there. In the doorway someone whom she’d just met minutes ago, A boy who wasn’t supposed to be there just trying to figure out how he would bring her back to life.

”We’re both made up of scars, Alex. You just can’t see mine”

Alex Law was the quiet one with the football under his arm. The boy she had never seen before. The boy who would walk her home and change her life. But, under everything he was a boy that was hurting the most. The one that was lost and the one that she didn’t know how she would survive after Alex.

These two will be put through so much, tested, broken and needing to be pieced back together.

“You’re the biggest regret I never allowed myself to have”

Amazing read that I highly recommend every romance reader to get lost in!

When Alex finds Natalie, she's shy, broken and barely existing. Her family is in the midst of dealing with something no parent or family should ever have to face. Natalie is left feeling guilty for wanting more attention, but not wanting ask for it as she believes her sister needs it more. Alex sees beyond her shyness and offers to see her home safely. That night Alex is witness to the end of a relationship that is very special to Natalie.

With the end of that relationship, I believe this was the point where Alex vowed that it would be the beginning of their special relationship. Alex was so patient with Natalie, never forcing himself on her or into her life. He was just there as if he'd always been there and he let things happen at Natalie's pace.

There are very few books that I've read where I've had a lump in my throat the entire time. I still get misty eyed and emotional just trying to think back on all the sad and beautiful moments to write this review. Word of warning... do not read this book without a box of Kleenex near by. This story is so beautiful and sad all at the same time. My heart was not sure what it wanted to do from one moment to the next. It went from aching to bursting with love. I seriously think the most beautiful moment for me, was their first time together. It was so honest, heartfelt and real.... That should be what all first times should be like. LOVE...Alex absolutely loved Natalie and she, without a doubt loved him in return.

There, of course, is so much more to this book. I won't want to ruin this experience for any one. This is absolutely something to experience, you won't be sorry that you did.

This was a sweet second chance romance. The story had an ok story line to me just not a ton of suspense.

Victoria's books always shake me to the core. They are gripping and intense. I can't wait to read more of Alex and Nat. I will follow Marcus's path and one day I hope sammy and Danny will tell us their stories, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not that I don't like it's cover I should add
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 10, 2017
Wow, wow, wow! You know the saying don't judge a book by its cover? Well this book is total proof of that. Not that I don't like it's cover I should add, just that I was unsure of what the book was about. The title and the brightness of the girl's eyes (on the cover) almost looked a bit supernatural and I'll admit I'd skimmed by it a few times before finally deciding to download.

This book is full of emotion, based on the epic love of Nat and Alex two teenagers struggling with their lot in life whom we first meet as sixteen year olds. We follow the heartache that ensues and the worries that no sixteen year old should ever have to deal with. It's a journey of self discovery, its raw and it's beautiful.

I was warned this book would break me and I usually hate books that do that but I decided to put myself out there and read anyway. I'm so glad I did! It's not a weepy as such (although I'll admit my eyes were wet on a couple of occasions) but it's definitely a book that evokes emotion. Pure, heart wrenching emotions. I went from sad to angry to happy to disappointed and probably every other emotion you can think of throughout the seamless chapters. Never quite knowing what emotion I'd feel next and also having no idea where I wanted the story to go. It's safe to say I had a war with myself throughout, Victoria's writing was so compelling that I felt as confused and heartbroken as Nat did.

Victoria has a way with words that just seemed to effortlessly place me in the world of the characters, her writing was picturesque in a way that everything unfolded before me and I became so engrossed in the story I devoured it, occasionally having to stop for a reprieve from the angst.

By the end of the book I wasn't sure whether I was happy or sad, whether I wanted to hug Victoria or punch her, I was totally bewildered. My moral compass was all messed up and I questioned everything I'd ever believed in. The only thing I was sure of was that Natexus will live with me for a long time.

It's not often I use quotes in reviews but when I read these poetic words at 34% I knew this book would emotionally exhaust me in all the right ways.

“Real love, the love that seeps deep down into your bones, it’s awkward. It’s complicated and it’s raw. There’s no such thing as being swept off your feet and magical happily ever afters, as beautiful as those stories are. You have to learn to find a way to carry each other when it’s time, but also let each other wander when it’s needed, too. Whatever it is you’re both going through, whether alone or together, no matter how big or small, simple or painful, whether it's a dream or a nightmare, soul mates never stay apart for long'

As a woman who fell hard in love for the first time at 18 and is still 13 years later happily in love with that soulmate these words reached out to me in a way no other quote ever has, in a way that if I wasn't already married I'd be writing these into my vows. Victoria nailed the reality of love, real love in one short quote. For that alone I thank her.

In summary this book is a must read. Some of you will love it, some of you will hate but I defy anyone to read this and not to feel something.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 28, 2018
This story broke my heart. It was one of those beautiful but tragic love stories that pulls your heart in every direction. It's a proper rollercoaster of emotions that messes with your mind.

It's one of those where you love both characters, well I did. You don't want to see either of them hurt. I found it hard to choose between Alex and Marcus I just couldn't do it.

I was so engrossed in the story I wanted to know how it would end up but I admit I was scared to find out. I think the Author did this story justice and the ending was the right choice but it still gutted me.

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series especially Marcus because I think he's my favourite and I want to know more about him.

4.0 out of 5 stars Young love & making it right.
Reviewed in Australia on March 10, 2018
This is gritty angsty & about young love, it's trials & tribulations & second chances. While starting out in the NA field & a few years after that. Natalie the quiet one with so much underneath. Alex the popular one but with such an abusive family life.
All those wrongs don't make it right but help you grow.
