Lethal Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.4 out of 5 stars 9,256 ratings

Blade McCormick is not a nice guy. He’s pure adrenaline and smells like smoke and leather - the kind of guy you look at and know he’s going to be a combination of nasty and irresistible. The moment I allowed myself to touch his hot skin and kiss his full lips, I. Was. Done.

Like currency, I’ve become part of a transaction. Blade took me to pay off a debt. I try to tell myself, Eve, you should hate him. He’s a bad guy. But then again, I’m not a good girl. Blade’s the president of the Disciples, the notorious motorcycle club. I should be frightened, yet somehow, he doesn’t scare me. If anything, I think I scare him.

Lethal: A gritty, super hot love story
5 out of 5 stars
Lethal: A gritty, super hot love story
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Lethal was my first MC themed read when I entered the world of dark and spicy romance. I figured it would have a Sons of Anarchy feel with oversexed tattooed men, bikes, guns and tons of black leather. ⛓ Did Lethal have these things? Yep! 🥵 But it had 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆. Jason, or Blade to most, is not only the president of the Disciples, the most treacherous motorcycle club in California, but a real alpha-hole of a tyrant. He’s ill-tempered, violent and as dangerous as they come. Blade’s a ladies’ man, but only until they've served their purpose. He’s not meant for commitment, except to his brothers of the MC. That is until Eve stumbles into his life. Or rather, he obtains her in a vile arrangement and years later, this fiery female becomes much more than just an acquisition. Eve is a gorgeous young woman with captivating eyes of sapphire blue, thrown into the depravity of a harsh world of criminals, sex, drinking and drugs. Even living in this unforgiving lifestyle among savages, Eve begins to see something endearing within the man she once feared. Blade is vulgar and immoral. Eve is feisty and shrewd. He’s overly controlling and the last thing she will ever do is submit to this despicable biker. Neither of them plans to change who they have always been, provoking the stubborn duo to constantly clash. But what they don’t expect is the undeniable chemistry and lustful attraction budding between them. Lethal is full of vibrant characters, brilliant dialogue and the intriguing lifestyle of outlaw riders. Blade and Eve’s story is overflowing with raw passion that does not quit. 🔥 As gritty as Lethal is, it’s a true love story. But in order to find the peace and happiness they genuinely deserve, these two have to navigate their minefield of differences. This story is scorching hot, romantic and unforgettable. I recommend this book often and will continue to do so! 🖤 🎧: I read Lethal first, and then also picked up the audiobook which is narrated by @duran.troy and @devongrace.xo, who did a tremendous job. ❤️🔥

Like most of you, I read a lot. And like a lot have mentioned, I was in an MC mood.

This is the first time I have read her. What I cannot understand are the poor ratings because of the subject or character preferences of this book. If you do indeed read a lot and have read any kind of MC book, the characters were pretty typical. The alpha guys are going to be "lethal", uncaring, demanding, and even unkind. At least at first. That's what these kinds of books are all about. And that is what most of us are attracted to in this sub-genre. The resolution of the bad guy. So, poor ratings on that premise are discounted for me.

As for the actual book - I'm impressed with Cassandra Robbins. We all obviously like this genre. (you wouldn't be here otherwise) And if you have read anything at all, you know there are a lot of marginal writers here. We are not reading classics. But Ms. Robbins is well above average. Her writing style, grammar, good editing, and maturity in writing are all good. THAT, in my opinion, is what a rating is for. We all have our triggers and maybe don't like a particular scene in a book. That's fine. But rating the author based on a personal preference is not a fair appraisal. Now, she is not a John Steinbeck or even Stephen King, but I'm pretty sure that's not her mission in life. But this entertaining story was well written. The part I liked the most (as far as writing) was that she did not resolve the angst in the last two paragraphs. That is probably my biggest disappointment in a book. She presented the resolution(s) far enough back that you got to enjoy the ending rather than feel like it was a quick chop job and done.

If I had only one issue I did not like (and again, this is simply a preference - it has nothing to do with the rating of this book) was the cover. So many mentioned how lickable the cover is. Can't argue there. But it was kind of cliche to me. SO many books are covered with gorgeous pictures to sell the book and then the inside is marginal, or less than marginal. So, I actually have a tendency to steer clear of these kinds of covers. It makes me think the author needs something to make the sale and that's all you are going to get. Most of the really good romance, erotica, or any other mainstream books that sit in my top 10 have covers that are not cliche at all. But again, that's just a personal preference.

I will be reading a lot more of Cassandra Robbins. Thank you for the entertainment!

First story of the series, so can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Ends with a HFN / HEA and a small cliffhanger as a teaser for the next story in the series.

There are some scenes that may be a trigger for sensitive readers, as well as some grammatical errors throughout. Examples for both will be listed below for anyone interested. My notes regarding some of the issues have been loaded to Goodreads.

This story builds organically, scene by scene. I am not sure why, but this is the first MC story / series that I have read set in LA. There is a lot of potential with the structure put into place by Cassandra Robbins, but there were a few gaps in one of the characters. By that I mean, things that were referenced or mentioned, but never followed up with additional detail that prevented me from a 5 star rating.

In this story, Eve and Blade first met when she was 16 years old. His MC, the largest 1 percenter MC on the West Coast, has had an arrangement with her dad and brother going back several years. James, Eve’s dad, and Benny, Eve’s brother, got drugs from The Disciples, sold it to people who attended their carnival, then paid the MC for what they sold, keeping a nice profit for themselves.

A couple of years later, James and Benny wanted to come back to the West Coast so they could make another large purchase from The Disciples. One night after they arrived, Blade and a few of the other Disciples came to carnival and Eve was told by James to stay hidden while they were there, but she needed to run her game. Unexpectedly, they came over to her booth and Blade was the most handsome man she had ever seen.

Eve may only be 18 years old, but she was raised on the road and knows how to survive. So when she feels threatened by the bikers, she doesn’t hesitate to show that she is capable of defending herself. This gets her more attention than she wants. So later when Benny disappears along with the drugs and money, Blade claims Eve as his own for the debt when her dad doesn’t have the money to pay him off.

⛔️ Contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, restraints, spanking for pleasure, “bottom” play, etc.; violence such as kidnapping, abduction, murder, death, torture, assault, fighting, betrayal, coercion, blackmail, threats, subterfuge, money laundering, gun running, cheating, prostitution, human trafficking, mafia / cartels, drug use, drug manufacturing, drug distribution, arson, etc.

There are very few grammatical issues primarily comprised of incorrect word choice and tense, punctuation errors, missed words and extra inserted words. I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

This is the first book that I've read from this author and the first book in this series The Disciples Series.
This is a MC Romance, Forced proximity, age gap romance, dark romance that is a must read.

Eve works at the carnival and she's always done whatever she's needed to survive. After she got sold to Blade to repay her brothers debt everything changed in her life rapidly.
Blade is Prez of The Disciples MC club and he is bad ass guy that puts you down with one look. Blade is an ex navy seals who'll do anything for his brothers. When he takes Eve and brands her like a farm animal he thinks he can use her for a while a kick her to the curb. The thing is they both get way way more than they bargained for.

I absolutely loved reading about Blade and Eve and also getting some back story on some of the other guys. I was gripped and I couldn't wait to see how Blade would react to Eve and if Eve could truly find someone who cares about her. I absolutely loved seeing both these characters changing on the pages and Eve showing Blade he does have a softer side and him showing her life is worth it. This has alot of hot steamy moments and later on a few tender moments too that I love. I love that with Blade yeah he is a real alpha male but also very possessive and very protective and they had a lot of chemistry they couldn't keep their hands off each other. I really like this authors writing style and I was hooked straight away. I enjoyed reading this book and I can't wait to jump straight into Atone book #2.

Check trigger warnings before you jump into this book.

I stumbled across this book never having read Cassandra Robbins before. I’m so happy I did. Blade is one of my all time favourite MC books. I love these characters. Blade is unapologetic in all his alpha goodness. Eve’s home life has greatly shaped her and I appreciated that she was strong yet underneath that was a vulnerable young girl that just wanted to be loved. Blade saw that and it made for an epically beautiful love story with all the grittiness of MC life that we love. Plus it didn’t hurt that the chemistry between these two was 🔥.

I ran off and read the rest of the series after this and was not disappointed. C. Robbins has become one of my go to authors!

This story had so much potential, but it was lacking in the end. Reading it, it felt like it was all over the place, the story but also the characters. The beginning was good, but after that I lost interest.

Oh my... this book is truly addictive! I could not put it down, sadly sometimes I had to. This is one of those books where you could happily just keep reading and reading about these characters. I didn't want their story to end and now that I've reached the end.... I'm so ready for book two!! This is the first book I've read by Cassandra and she is now a favourite. I will read her other books as well. I loved the characters- and I loved the chemistry and the heat between Eve and Blade. Oh my! I love seeing the different sides to Blade when he became Jason. And I love reading from their point of views and seeing Blade discover himself to be maybe not as much of a bad guy as he thought. Eve is a strong character and it's hard not to love her. I loved their story and I know you will too! I think this book with have me hooked on MC books from now on.
