Love & Liability: A Romantic Comedy (The High Tea & Flip-Flops Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 149 ratings

Sixteen days in London could totally ruin her wedding plans. Now that Chelsea Cole and Jeremy Pearce are engaged, it's only natural that she wants to travel to London to meet her future in-laws, right? Yeah, that's the last thing Jeremy wants to happen. But when Chelsea gets her wish, she begins to find out why he wanted to avoid that meeting—and it becomes a toss-up whether the truth or Chelsea's antics might be the biggest jeopardy to the whole wedding thing.

The High Tea & Flip-Flops series consists of four books. Each book is a complete story ... no cliffhangers. However, I suggest you read them in order as the books follow the progression of Chelsea and Jeremy's relationship.

Love & Liability is a continuation of the lighthearted, fun romance that began in "High Tea & Flip Flops." British transplant Jeremy Pearce and California girl Chelsea Cole are moving forward and planning their wedding. Chelsea wants to meet Jeremy's parents, since they are about to become "family," but Jeremy would happy to avoid his family forever. This story covers their trip to London, along with Chelsea's mother Marie, and all the humorous misunderstandings, mishaps, and fun that go into meeting the upper-crust in-laws.

Chelsea is used to the reserved and mysterious Jeremy that she has come to know. But when they are on his home turf of London, he seems different and she wonders if she really knew him, and if, by marrying her, he is willing to give up the luxurious life-style he used to have. Lots of fun, not too much tension. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Love & Liability (High Tea & Flip-Flops #2) by Linda Cassidy Lewis is a book I won from the Kindle Scout program. It is not the kind of book I normally read but it looked like it would make a good book so I voted for it. It turned out to be a good book even if it isn't my normal genre. It had great characters, plot, humor sprinkled just right, and romance (this is what I normally don't read). I did enjoy how she wrote this romance. It was a fun read. I am glad I received this book!

Love & Liability—High Tea and Flipflop Novel Book 2—is both laugh out loud funny and chuckling funny. Even if you’ve never been stuck living at home after “a certain age,” we can all relate, not to mention the "in-law" issue.. Although this genre is not my usual reading, I loved it and read straight through in two days. It’s fast-paced, quirky, and to quote the Brits, quite droll. Ms. Lewis’ writing is clear and really fun. For pure entertainment and many laughs, pick it up. You won’t be sorry!

Chelsea and Jeremy are engaged and living with her single mother in this chick lit sequel. She’s American and he’s British and they write romance novels together. Fun premise. I would’ve liked more about that dynamic. She’s quirky and offbeat and he’s mysterious about his family. So what’s the big secret? She’s about to find out when she and her mother travel to England with him to meet them for the first time. There’s really not much of a story here, although if you’ve read the first book, you’ll want to read this one. This is a light read. I prefer a bit more substance in my chick lit, but this book is fun and I found Chelsea to be the best part. I think more could’ve been done with the story. It’s a bit too predictable and things tie up a little too perfectly. But I guess that’s chick lit. Light and frothy and well written.

This was a big fun madcap of a romantic romp. I enjoyed it exceedingly. Our heroine is cute, funny, and sweetly flawed and it was a treat to take this adventure with her. I had not realized this was a book in a series, but not having read the previous book did not effect my enjoyment of the story one bit. The author skillfully includes just enough backstory that the reader knows what's going on without recapping the entire previous work. The book is fine as a stand alone, but I do recommend readers begin with the first book so they don't miss any of the fun.

Chelsea is impulsive, speaking without thinking through the ramifications, which gets her in some funny jams. She’s also smart, sweet, a great friend, and fun to hang out with. Her handsome fiancée Jeremy is British, with a stiff upper lip and … you get the picture.

I received the book free through the Kindle Scout program by nominating it. I hadn’t read the first one, so I was afraid I’d be lost. That fear was unfounded. The second book reads great as a standalone novel. I’m going back and reading the first one, so I don’t miss out on Chelsea’s antics.

Chelsea and Jeremy have set the date for their wedding but Chelsea has not met his parents. Whenever she mentions that fact, Jeremy goes silent. When the chance finally arrives for her to meet the parents, things do not quite go as planned. Chelsea changes her hair, clothes, and to try to impress Jeremy's parents but she finds that she just needs to be herself. Jeremy has had a rough time with his parents and his job choices so there is pressure there. As they approach the end of the stay, Chelsea takes things out of context and plans go awry. Both Chelsea and Jeremy find that they just need to be themselves and things work out. Hearing it is one thing but doing it is another. Really liked this book.

Jeremy doesn't want anything to do with his family, but his fiancee Chelsea is adamant about inviting them to their upcoming wedding. So the two of them embark on a trip to London where Jeremy's family lives. Misunderstandings between Chelsea and Jeremy continue to plague their relationship, but since this is rom-com everything works out in the end. Along the way there are plenty of moments of fun and romance between this opposites attract couple. If you are looking for a fun read, this is the book for you.

I enjoyed this book, a modern day Pride and Prejudice with some Bridgette Jones thrown in. I love the characters of Chelsea and Jeremy and was pleased to see the author penned another book featuring them. They are so different and that's what works. A North American married to a Brit myself, I couldn't help but nod my head and laugh at the misunderstandings and miscommunications. It is often said, we are two nations divided by a common language and the author took full advantage of this. The two main characters are well developed but so are the minor characters. We get to meet Jeremy's interesting family and friends. The book is all about relationships - friends, family and lovers, which Ms Lewis excels at writing about. Part of the book is set in London, one of my favourite cities. There were many laughs but I cried at the end. I won't tell you why, because it will spoil it. You have to read the book yourself to find out. Will there be more books featuring Chelsea and Jeremy? I hope so.

This book takes off where High Tea leaves off, but I'm sure it can be read as a stand-alone. I waited for the release of this book--and it didn't disappoint! The laugh-out-loud laughs kept coming. Chelsea is a scatter-brain who keeps getting into all kinds of sticky situations--and finding her way out. A romantic-comedy, with a main character who is funny, empathetic, and stands on her own two feet. Definitely a feel good book.
