Every second generation of the Hale line dies at the hands of an unnameable monster on his 80th birthday. The current Lord Hale turns 80 this Saturday.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Steve Higgs writes some brilliant, laugh out loud and edge of your seat books. This is one of them. Blue Moon Investigations was supposed to be a Private Investigation business. Instead, a typo turned them into Paranormal Investigations - the phone hasn't stopped ringing! All storylines are different and they have not been repeated. Best series ever!"

"Steve Higgs has brought a wonderful premise, that of a paranormal detective agency which debunks the paranormal, and given life to the cast of characters. Mr Higgs' writing has humour, twists and turns, and he gives the reader all the clues so that we have a chance to solve the mystery as well. A delightful romp!"

"An absolute corker of a read that hooks you in from the start. Clear the decks because you will not want to stop reading or sleep once you start. Best yet with humour and a genuine creepy feeling."

However, calling it his first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, he is having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and claims to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in his head as they clamour to get out.He lives in the south-east corner of England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he will ever leave, the beer is just too good.

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.

Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

I love Steve Higgs! I'm nearly finished with the second series I've read by him and I like the books just as much now as I did when I began. I started with the Patricia Fisher series and am now on the Blue Moon series , so I've read over 30 of his books and just realized I'd never left a review.
Granted, the editing isn't perfect, but the books are a great blend of humor and mystery. I'm one of those geeky people who has to read a series in order, and characters continue to develop and plots are new and fresh in each book.

I have just finished all of the currently available Blue Moon books. And I have to say, I want more... Now.

I missed Bill and Dozer in this one, but I think it's one of my top three favorites. Tightest plot, best characters lumped together, except Basic, I kind of missed him too.

Yes, there are a few spelling choices which went astray, it's sowing, not sewing Steve. But the progression of your talent has been a pleasure to see. I look forward to reading the next series while waiting for the next Blue Moon.

I think this is the best story in the series so far.

Great edge of your seat action and sly humor.

Amanda and Tempest are finally together.

They, Patience, Big Ben and Tempest's parents go to Lord Hale's mansion for what they think is a fun weekend.

Then , people vanish , apparently by magic, and
    bodies start appearing.

In between, Patience and Big Ben try to control their hormones,Tempest's mom is knitting baby jumpers, and Tempest is spirited away by a lady vampire.

The remaining members of the group and an assortment of other dinner guests band together for the fight of their lives.

Will they make it out in one piece?

Loved it! i did, however, miss Bull and Dozer.

I have been looking forward to this one for a while since I first saw it. It was as good as I hoped, even with One person out of most... I hope there are more with an ensemble...

This is the 11th ( I think) book in the series and all are a good read. All the stories are fun in parts but are also an exciting and different type of detective tale. I really enjoyed them all and look forward to the author writing more about Tempest , Amanda and Big Ben. I recommend them very highly.
