Love and Ghosts: A Crescent City Ghost Tours Romance (Haunted Ever After Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 773 ratings

He sees dead people.
She refuses to believe they exist.

Psychic medium Sean LeBlanc runs the most popular haunted tour company in the French Quarter. For years, he's been challenged by the loudest, most unbelieving critics, but he's always come away changing their minds.

Until now.

When the toughest skeptic he’s ever met turns out to be the woman of his dreams, he makes it his mission to win her heart and dispel her disbelief.

Communicating with the dead is easy. Convincing her his ability is real?

Not so much.

Emily Rollins is a rational woman who doesn’t believe in ghosts, so when a mysterious wooden box arrives on her doorstep, she brings it inside without a second thought.

But the box contains a sinister force that threatens her sanity and her life.

She’s starting to fall for the alluring psychic, but if he can’t convince her to exorcise her demons—from her apartment and her mind—they both might end up communicating from the other side…

If you like intrigue, mystery, and suspense, you'll love this steamy, heart-melting romance set during Halloween in the magical city of New Orleans!

Set in The Big Easy, Love & Ghosts draws you in from the start with the wonderfully blunt Trish questioning her best friend, lead female Emily, about a possible one night stand as they’re heading into a masquerade ball. The conversation that followed set up an interesting and painful backstory that plays a major role throughout the rest of the book. Trish proves herself once again by forcing Emily to open up to life a little with a fun and steamy dare.

Enter Sean. As the Dread Pirate Roberts no less (because who doesn’t want him?). He’s rich, he loves his Momma, and he’s hot as hell. Oh, and he can see and communicate with ghosts; owning and operating the most popular haunted tour company in New Orleans.

When Emily is the only person to realize Sean isn’t Zorro, they start dancing in more ways than one. Sparks become fireworks, but she refuses to tie herself to the first man she meets in her new home city. However, she and Sean keep running into each other and eventually one thing leads to another until their opposing opinions on the paranormal threaten to tear them apart.

Can Sean and Emily come to an understanding before her disbelief is their downfall?

    **********

Carrie creates a sense of foreboding and suspense as scenes and situations build that had me finishing this book in one day. I needed to know what was going to happen and if everyone was going to come out alright in the end due to the nagging feeling of danger. Despite the circumstances under which it happens, I was really happy Philip got some karma; he made my skin crawl. I also found a lot of the ghosts really endearing, which is sadly rare for me but made me like this book even more.

I adore Sean, there’s not really a single thing I can think of that I would want to be different about him. He’s patient and caring, talented, aware of and interested in the world around him, he has great taste in movies, and he’s crazy hot. Talk about a perfect book boyfriend! I would love a hundred stories with Sean in them.

Emily is complicated. Do I like her? Yes, absolutely. However, her stubborn streak and inability to accept Sean and the world around her got on my nerves a little bit at times. There were a couple of times I wasn’t sure if her behavior was entirely her own or if it was being influenced by the mysterious and evil box she refuses to ditch. But all that makes her human right? If she were perfect there wouldn’t be much of a story, and she has A LOT of history and a little bit of demon to overcome which can’t be forgotten either. She has some great lines and I really like that she holds her own against Sean and his friends.

I love Trish and Sydney. It would be awesome to see them get their own stories at some point, there’s just something about both of the fun, spunky, independent women that I can really relate to and want more of them. They’re like long lost best friends I want to hang out with on any given night.

Having never been to New Orleans, I don’t know what it looks like, how it’s set up, etc, but I’ve always felt like the city has a life of its own. I wish there had been a little more physical description of it so I could’ve felt like I was there too. At times it might have been any city anywhere. Looking up the Garden District afterward, it’s beauty was beyond what my imagination had been able to conjure while reading.

Please don’t take any of my comments to mean I didn’t enjoy the book, because I really did. These are a couple of nitpicky comments that I think would just make the book that much MORE awesome.

If you’re looking for a book that combines the paranormal, romance, realistic characters, and suspense, with a HEA, this is the book for you. Give it a read!

I believe this is the first book I've read by the author and it won't be my last. The writing is well plotted, the characters well defined and memorable and the cadence lent an easy pacing while reading.

I wasn't 100% sure if this was going to be a horror story filled with darkness or something a little lighter. It IS on the lighter side with a bit of suspense, a wonderful romance, great friendships and some really quirky individuals thrown into the mix.

I read every word in this book from cover to cover in one sitting. The writing was detailed enough that i was able to visualize each scene. It was the perfect balance of description and brevity that moves the story along.

There are a couple of open door sex scenes and if i were recommending to an elderly friend's book club, I would let them know I skipped "those parts" hehehe.

    I absolutely recommend this book.

Wow! This book was a lot of fun to read! Emily had moved to New Orleans to have a fresh start. She meets Sean at a masquerade party, and there are instant sparks, but she leaves without giving him her name or contact info. It seems they are fated to meet again, but there is a catch - Sean sees & deals with ghosts, and Emily refuses to believe in ghosts after a family tragedy. This book combines a romantic element with a paranormal mystery, and it kept me entertained until the very end. Since it's the start of a series, I'm interested in future books!

This author really knows how to write a story! Although it was a rather quick read (only a few hours) I really enjoyed getting to know her characters! Their relationships were believable and not like other paranormal romances I’ve read. I was pleasantly surprised by the plot and I can’t wait to read another book in this series!

I enjoyed reading this well written story. The characters are fully developed and likable. The plot is well paced and suspenseful. The ending was great. I was a little irritated with Emily's denial.

Sean with his business, family and friends is thoroughly part of New Orleans. Emily has come to work there because her BFF was there and she needed a restart. Much of the book is too knotch, however some of the actions and dialogue does not fit with the mostly intelligent characters.

Emily has moved from Texas to start a new life in New Ork with her best friend Trish. While at a costume party she meets Sean who is a paranormal investigator and the owner of a ghost tour company. Having guilty feelings over her sister Jessica's suicide and refusal to believe in the paranormal, their relationship is in jeopardy from the start. This was a really good story.

I absolutely loved this story. From the start it keeps you riveted. After the death of her sister, Emily moves to New Orleans to live near her friend, Trish - she doesn't believe in ghosts, or does she? Sean is a medium who runs a successful ghost tour business and very much believes in ghosts. His mother is keen to see him married and give her grandchildren, but he is still not ready to commit again after his wife's death. Emily and Sean meet and kiss at his mother's masquerade ball but of course neither of them know who each other is. However, they do get together and despite sitting on opposite sides of the paranormal fence they do get on very well. But when Emily receives a box that belonged to her dead sister which is shrouded in evil Sean, suspecting that there is an evil entity inside the box, tells her to get rid of it. But of course she doesn't. Will she regret this decision? Emily is attached to the box and can't give it up so she hides it in her cupboard. To add to her problems her ex - Phillip has turned up at her house saying they should get back together. Meanwhile Sean is being pursued by a ghost that is trying to speak with him but she doesn't have the energy to do so - yet! As things take a more sinister turn and Emily begins to suffer more both physically and mentally Sean fears for Emily's life. This was an amazing story with well defined characters. An amazing story that is well written with ghosts, an evil entity, mystery, intrigue, love and romance and of course an HEA.
I received an ARC form the author and I voluntarily leave this honest review. Also having purchased the book to add to my e-book library.

I absolutely love this author, to me they are happy feel good stories.
I was glad Syd called out Sean and how he treated her gift. It was OK for him to convince Emily that his gift was part of him and had to be accepted but continuously avoided Syd using hers because he did not like it.
The story flowed well, Syd is definitely my favourite character but I thought all the supporting characters were great. I want to read her story!
Sean and Emily were strong characters and made a great couple. I loved how their characters grew and developed, accepting each other.
Overall I really enjoyed it and would happily read more from this author.
