The Love-Haight Case Files, Book 2: Fighting for Other-Than-Human Rights Kindle Edition
With the return of magic to the world, how will the law evolve?
Perfect for fans of Urban Fantasy, Evelyn Love and Thomas Brock love the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco, love the law, love representing the rights of supernatural OTs (Other-Than-Humans) who accompanied the return of magic to the world, and just might love each other, even though Thomas is a ghost.
But with discrimination against OTs on the rise and the entire law office staff living under threat of death or worse, the cases are darker, the mysteries are murkier, the clients are more desperate, the stakes are higher, and the parallels to the real world are even more compelling.
Book 2 of The Love-Haight Case Files tells four new, stand-alone tales of mystery, horror, suspense, action, and romance in a legal procedural/urban fantasy where love and danger both flourish in unexpected ways.

About the authors
Author of Net Impact, Wet Work, and Flash Drive, a series of spy thrillers which incorporate real-world conspiracy theories, GREENSWORD, a dark comedy about global warming, Forced Conversion, a military science fiction novel set in the near future, and Frame Shop, a mystery thriller set in a suburban writers' group. Co-author of The Love-Haight Case Files, Books 1 and 2, paranormal legal thrillers about lawyers protecting the rights of supernatural creatures in a magic-filled San Francisco. Edited the ghost anthology, Familiar Spirits. Also author of a variety of short fiction in the science fiction, fantasy, thriller, horror, mystery, steampunk, romance, and comedy genres, including stories in the Dragonlance and Transformers universes and in a variety of DAW themed anthologies. Also produced Morse Code Mysteries and Missives, with three tales presented first in 311 pages of Morse Code text, then via links in almost 12 hours of audio dots and dashes, then in clear text.
World's top-ranked player of RPGA Classic roleplaying game tournaments from 1985-2000.
See my writing and gaming resumes at www.donaldjbingle.com., including a listing of about fifty anthologies in which I have stories. Some of my previously published stories have been collected by theme in my Writer on Demand TM series and published on Kindle, including Tales of Gamers and Gaming, Tales of Humorous Horror, Tales Out of Time, Grim, Fair e-Tales, Tales of an Altered Past Powered by Romance, Horror, and Steam, Not-So-Heroic Fantasy, and Shadow Realities. My award-winning short memoir, Father's Day, is also available on Kindle, as is Gentlemanly Horrors of Mine Alone, the ninth story in Mike Stackpole's Chain Story Project.
I also have a series of humorous critiques (Season's Critiquings; Merry Mark-Up, Holiday Workshopping, and Santa Clauses and Phrases) of Christmas classics which writers, aspiring authors, and NaNoWriMo participants will find especially amusing.
My home is filled with dogs and books. Lots of dogs and books. I am surrounded by both as I type this.
I wear twenty-some-year-old sandals or fraying tennis shoes to work everyday, and my wardrobe is often convention t-shirts or Green Bay Packer sweats.
I'm a mystery writer living in a tiny Midwestern town that has a gas station, a Dollar General, and a marvelous pizza place with exceedingly slow service.
Always working on a new project or three.
I have more than fifty books published in the fantasy, science fiction, urban fantasy and mystery genres, and more than one hundred short stories. I've lost count of the number of anthologies and magazine issues I've edited. Yeah, I've been around a while.
I'm concentrating on writing mysteries now and have a series set in Spencer County, Indiana. Piper Blackwell.
In my spare time I dabble in roleplaying games and boardgames, toss tennis balls for my cadre of dogs, and attempt to put a dent in my to-be-read stack of novels.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2021The Love-Haight Case Files, Book Two is a real page-turner.
San Francisco has always been a tough town. It can be even tougher now that the magic is back, bringing with it vampires, werewolves, ghosts, ghouls, zombies, sentient gargoyles, mer-creatures and more. Known as OTs (Other-than-humans), they are the victims of fear, prejudice, hatred, and violence. And they have few, if any, rights within the legal system.
Lawyer Thomas Brock was a staunch defender of OT rights, even before he was murdered and returned to this plane of existence as a ghost. He and his still-living law firm partner, Evelyn Love, must protect their supernatural clients and friends, both in the legal system which would deny them their rights, and in the world that would deny them their very existence.
In this urban fantasy series, The Love-Haight Case Files, Jean Rabe and Donald J. Bingle have crafted a truly believable world populated with complex and sympathetic characters. Book One was excellent, and the four stories in Book Two did not disappoint.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2021Just because you're dead doesn't mean you shouldn't have the best legal team on your side. If you read the 1st Love-Haight Case Files you will love the 2nd. Rabe and Bingle have a knack for this new kind of murder mystery paranormal thing. Gargoyles, demons, ghosts, and other OTs (other than humans) haunt a good part of San Francisco giving Thomas Brock and his law partner lots of business. If you need a small break from reality this will certainly do it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2021Both books are entertaining and delightful. The main characters are well developed and curiously normal and weird at the same time. I thoroughly enjoyed the fascinating OTs (other than humans) and the solutions to their legal problems. Jean Rage and Donald J Jungle have created a truly wonderful Other world in San Francisco which has always been "otherly" during its existence. I look forward to "3."
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2021This is a really fun book. The very unique characters are working for the underdogs, in this case, the OT's. Their work is funny, action packed and suspenseful. A very enjoyable book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2021I lived this book. The stories were good with great characters. While they each stand alone, together the build on each other and come to an amazing conclusion.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2021I was pleasantly surprised just how good this book was. I will positively read the next installment. I highly recommend this book
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2021This is the 2nd book in the Love-Haight Case Files Series. Two lawyers, Thomas Brock and Evelyn Love fight for the rights of "OTs” (Other Than Humans) who are often mistreated, mistrusted, or discriminated against while trying to go about their daily lives. Unfortunately, Thomas Brock’s father is often fighting against them, and is determined to win at any and all costs. This book contains 4 of their cases and continues the tale of the everyday lives of the characters we were introduced to in book 1.
As with the previous book, I really enjoyed these 4 stories and how they intertwined with everything else happening in the book as a whole. It was a very fun read and I often found it hard to put it down when I needed to do something else (such as sleeping at night.)
I don't want to give away anything, so all I'm going to say is that if you enjoyed book 1 in this series, you do want to read this one. (And if you haven’t yet read book 1, then you really should give that one a try too.) Also, if you simply enjoy stories involving ghosts, werewolves, zombies, nixies, or any other supernatural creatures, this is a great series to try as it was written by two amazing authors.
I'm already looking forward to getting the chance to read book 3 when it comes out!
