Love Her: A Single Mom Meets Ex-Military Soldier Romance (Military Men of Lexington Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 149 ratings

The day I left that small town behind, I swore I’d never be back. I was better than Lexington and its small-minded residents. No one bothered to look beyond the mask I wore to protect my heart.

Then or now.

Sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way we plan. Having kids was the best thing that I ever did. Returning to the one place I’m least welcome might be the most humiliating. The one thing about this town is a reputation follows you. So despite life humbling me, this town won’t forgive easily, and my past bad deeds still haunt me.

--
Running from one war to another in the military, I spent years trying to find what was meant for me, to figure out where I belonged. It wasn’t in the city where I grew up or overseas. My soul needed settling and Lexington seemed like a good place to be alone.

Then I met her.

She owned my attention from the moment I saw her, my heart right after. Through the grapevine, I learned Felicity had a past worth gossiping about. So do I. Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to her.

I moved here for a fresh start, a second chance to live a peaceful life, but she has me reevaluating that plan. Maybe it’s not peace I need but love that I’ve been missing all along.

A romantic at heart, Andrea has always been a storyteller. An avid reader since a young age, she never planned to pen her own romance novel but, on a whim, and with no plan, she discovered her passion. Known for her slow burn small town romances, Andrea prides herself on writing relatable characters that the reader cheers for and secondary characters who bring the sass and laughs to each story.

Settled in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and dog, she counts down the days when her adult children come home for a visit. Even if it means more laundry!

I came across this book about a week before it released. I was super intrigued by it’s premise. Then I saw it was part of a spin off series. With quarantine going on in CA, I jumped in. I’ll say this, I enjoyed the Country Road series (the og series), and the stand alone, Small Town Heart. But this series, the military men of Lexington? It blew me away. Lover Her was everything I didn’t know I needed. I loved it, truly. I am a firm believer that we aren’t who we were in high school, and holding on to that just causes you to not live in the now. These characters were so human, flawed and perfect as they were. Their love story felt so organic to me, I can’t imagine it any other way. Connor was the perfect Hero. Felicity was so much more than anybody gave her credit for in the previous books. It was quite a journey in Lexington. One I am so glad to have taken a chance on.

Oh my goodness!! Each story in this series just kept getting better and better. Each book is based on the military men of Lexington but really, the women are the ones who make the stories come alive.

In Love Her, Andrea Johnston really brought the series home with a beautiful wrap up and redemption of the leading lady. So beautifully written you can’t help but to fall in love.

A series and story that is definitely a must read if you’re a romance or second chance lover. I guarantee you will fall in love with every character in this story and the whole Lexington town!!

    Love Her by Andrea Johnston

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Love Her by Andrea Johnston is book 3 in her Military Men of Lexington series and it is her best story yet, and that’s saying something!!!

Conner Hall. *sigh* I was really looking forward to his story and he did not disappoint. However, as much as I love Conner, his heroine stole the show.

I don’t usually like redemption stories but I love this one. Felicity Remington-Thorne appears in the Country Roads series as a high school bully that hasn’t outgrown being a bully. She’s a b-word with a capital B! But the Felicity in this book isn’t the one we’ve all come to know and hate. She’s beautiful now, not because of her outward beauty but because of who she’s allowed herself to become.

There is a lot more to the story, and a lot more I could go on and on about. I love this book so much. If you haven’t, I strongly encourage you to read the Country Roads series so you can truly understand my love of Felicity.

Love Her by Andrea Johnston is the third book in the Military Men of Lexington series. You probably know by now that I love small town and military stories. It's my jam! 🖤 I also love a good redemption story. So let me start by pointing out that I enjoyed this book A LOT!

Felicity was such a sweet soul despite her controversial past and poor choices. However, I missed some backstory for her mean girl behavior. I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read the previous series Country Road or had some flashbacks in this one. However, this is just my opinion.

    As far as Connor...

"Unexpected and certainly unplanned, meeting Lis Thorne has been a highlight of my move here."

Oh well, I swooned! I loved that he was able to see the real Felicity and I adored how confident and unwavering he was in his feelings toward her. 🖤

In conclusion, Love her is a lovely book that can bring someone so much joy on a peaceful Sunday!

"I think it doesn't matter why you're in my world, I only know I never want you to leave. Somewhere along the way of watching you stomp your boots across a dance floor to kicking my ass at mini golf, I fell in love with you."

I'll preface this by saying I've been a fan of this author's book since Life Rewritten. I love her writing style and the stories she tells touches my heart every time. This book was unexpected in that she managed to change my mind on a certain character with the swoosh of her magic pen. I loved this book so much. From the redemption to the strong character traits of her characters, she had me falling right along with her hero and heroine through the pages.

You do not have to read any other book to read this one first, so do it and then go back and read the rest. They are beautiful stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Took me awhile, BUT....

Throughout all the Country Road and Military Men books by Andrea Johnston, there was one character that just errked me. When I realised this book was her story, I was hesitant to read it...BUT I'M SO GLAD I DID.
People who are hurting, hurt people.
It actually made me reflect on my time at school and the bullies there...made me think, I wonder what their story was then.
I'm so sad these two book series have drawn to their conclusions. I will certainly miss this group of mates.
Thank you Andrea for letting me escape all the time to Lexington.
