Loving Daniel (MC Securities Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 67 ratings

*Can be read as a standalone.

Twelve years ago, Daniel McCafferty walked away from the man he loved without a backward glance. He threw himself into his father’s business as heir apparent of their vicious criminal empire in Manchester. Forced to deny who he was, who he loved, he buried himself in work and drink.

Christian’s life is steady. He has a good business, good friends, but he’s never had a lasting relationship. Second cousin to Daniel, they fell hard for each other one hot summer long ago. When Christian needed him the most, Daniel walked away. It broke something inside him. Over the last year, Christian asked Daniel for help with a lowlife named Bryce. Daniel gave it. Unstintingly.

When Daniel’s father dies unexpectedly, Christian stands by him. Offers him comfort. But when Bryce rears his ugly head again, and Christian is in grave danger, Daniel whisks him away to Europe. Away from normality, Daniel and Christian are thrown together in the heat of the Mediterranean sun. Daniel’s walls tumble, and for the first time he thinks that just maybe, it can work. All he has to do is keep secret the real reason he left Christian.

My name is Ruby Moone and I love books. All kinds of books. My weakness is for romance, and that can be any kind, but I am particularly fond of historical and paranormal. I decided to write gay romance after reading some fantastic books and falling in love with the genre, so am really thrilled to have my work published here. The day job takes up a lot of my time, but every other spare moment finds me writing or reading. I live in the north west of England with my husband who thinks that I live in two worlds. The real world and in the world in my head...he probably has a point!

I have been anticipating Christian and Daniel's story since I read book 1, and it did not disappoint. Their love has weathered some seriously rough patches, and come out the stronger for it. I was so happy to have their happy ending. (And I'm giving Asher and Tassos a HEA in my mind. So cute.) A heavy, emotional journey, even if it only skims the trials of Daniel's trauma.
The book could stand a thorough editing, some for grammar, and a lot for the overuse of pronouns. It's a delicate balance of proper names and pronouns in MM romance, but all the he/he his/his got a bit convoluted at times, and was just wrong at others. Add in a 3rd or 4th side character to the scene and I did a bit of rereading and detangling. Even so, I am giving 5 starts for the story, the characters, and the love. It was by no means unreadable, just not quite polished.
Recommend read (for the full series!)

    Travis' story please? ❤

This is the ups & downs, angsty & dangerous coming together of cousins Daniel’s and Christian’s love tale. I was somewhat intrigued by the MCs' relationship in a semi-criminal family. Although the story was interesting, it didn’t live up to Ruby Moone’s usual storytelling prowess. The story was a bit long-winded, the angst became a bit tedious and some parts of the story didn’t seem based in reality. An okay read. Rating: Slightly better than 3⭐️⭐️⭐️.
An aside: I suspect a separate romance tale for both Asher and Travis.

Twelve years is a long time to be separated from the one you love. Especially when he left you abruptly without an explanation.
Now you are attending his father's funeral and you discover the spark is still there.
When your life is in danger he steps up to save you.
    And you can't help yourself.
You agree to let him try...

I was pretty sure I’d like Daniel and Christian’s story and I was right. Second chance with angst, criminals and a little bit sticky-sweet at the epilogue but that’s okay. It was kind of easy to guess the big secret and the plot was engaging enough to hold my interest.

This was just a lovely read. The only other Ruby Moone book I had read previously was Trusting Jack, the first in the series. When this came out, I couldn’t wait, so I skipped Finding Finlay and went straight on to this. It can stand alone, but the first two books are a great intro and build up to this relationship.

This is a wonderful story with fascinating characters who get a second chance at love, but they have a lot to deal with before they can be together. I read for romance and emotion, so I was glad that the suspense elements were very light. These men were just so adorable and hot together. Now I need to go back and read Finding Finlay! I did NOT receive an ARC. I chose to review this book!

This was a highly anticipated book for me since the first one and Ruby Moone did not disappoint. When you meet Daniel, he's a dangerous man who obviously cares for Christian, but there's something preventing him from being happy and choosing a life with him. Fast forward to this book, you delve into Christian and Daniel's past as they work through the hurt caused by Daniel's actions twelve years previous. It's a mixture of a second chance romance and the two men growing together and finding love after so many years. Like the others in the series, I loved this book and highly recommend it!!

Unfortunately this is one silly story. I had hoped Ruby had got her writing groove back after the second book in the MC Securities trilogy. But she hasn't.

Very disappointed because Christian and Daniel deserve better than being menaced by Geoff Bryce --again!! (For a two-bit petty criminal, this guy had staying power.) Daniel's issues with his past are intriguing but not enough to save what turns into a soppy resolution.

I skimmed through about a third of the book, always a bad sign when you want *less* of the author's writing instead of more.
