Lucky for You (Welcome to Marsden Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 49 ratings

Welcome to Marsden...where the boy who wanted to marry you in kindergarten is now the police officer monitoring your house arrest.

It was only a ride on a pony. Okay, a “borrowed” racehorse. And the ride was through a casino. Big deal. Jordan Leigh calls days like that “Tuesday.” Now cynical wild child Jordan is under house arrest in Marsden, the poky little mountain town her family had left years before. Jordan fully expects to be bored out of her mind…until straitlaced, serious—and seriously hot—Officer William Nash is assigned to keep an eye on her. He’s fun to toy with and, wonder of wonders, actually seems to like her. Unlike the rest of the town’s residents, who remember Jordan’s misspent, delinquent youth all too well.

Will Nash has always been a law-abiding member of Marsden society...aside from that little incident under the Play-Doh table in kindergarten which, wouldn’t you know it, involved Jordan Leigh. Will has stayed on the right side of the law since then, and his level-headedness makes him an ideal member of the Marsden police force. Will loves his job, even though nothing much happens in Marsden. And then Jordan shows up with an ankle monitor, a reckless attitude, and snarky comments for days.

Jordan amuses herself by driving Will crazy...first in a bad way, then in a good way. A very, very good way. But Will doesn’t want a casual hookup. Jordan, on the other hand, doesn’t “do” relationships. They just might be able to meet somewhere in the middle...and maybe pick up where they left off under that Play-Doh table...if Jordan can let her guard down. If Will can lighten up. And if the rest of the town’s residents could mind their own business for five minutes.

Welcome to Marsden—the perfect place to fall in love!

Jayne Denker divides her time between working hard to bring the funny in her closed-door, low-spice romantic comedies, raising a son who’s way too clever for his own good, and wrangling two demented (but in a good way) felines. A solid 4.5 stars!

This is the story of Will, a small town police officer from a large and very ‘involved’ family, who’s made it his life’s mission to do things ‘by the book’. And then there is Jordan, the ex-juvenile delinquent who has come back to Marsden, to the dismay of the unforgiving and un-forgetting townsfolk, to face the consequences of her latest ‘wild hair’.

Will is a sweet, slightly narrow-minded, but very delectable stickler of the dorkish variety, but with an impressive load of suppressed passionate prowess.

Jordan is an irreverent, misunderstood smartass, in dire need of the acceptance she works hilariously hard at avoiding.

Together they make for a fabulous, humorous and clever small-town story, with a slow build up of passion, sure to tickle anyone’s fancy! Or should I say fantasy?

If you like a little bite, a dose of healthy emotion, a good chunk of romance, a ton of laughs and a nod to your intelligence all in one read, then this one’s for you!

I liked the book but reading it makes me glad I don't live in a small town anymore. I could totally relate to Jaimie's character I was glad to see some willing to give her a chance. Also glad for the ending (don't wanna give it away)

I have been a fan of Jayne Denker since I read Down on Love, the first book in her Marsden series. Her writing is engaging, sweet and downright funny. You cannot help but laugh while reading her witty dialogue! In this third installment, we follow the relationship between Jordan, the newly returned bad girl, and Will, the town's favorite policeman - and the straightest arrow you'll ever find. I LOVE a complex heroine and Ms. Denker has done a wonderful job with her portrayal of Jordan's struggles. Jordan may be prickly on the surface, but Will is able to find the heart she tries so hard to protect. In these wonderful pages you will find romance, humor and just the right amount of steam. The icing on the cake was visiting with the inhabitants of Marsden once more! They are a colorful cast of characters you will enjoy getting to know. Overall, another gem of a book from Ms. Denker.

Sweet and realistic in the crazy, mixed up world of relationships, this series was adorable from the beginning to the end.

A very good read. Would recommend it

I loved how spunky Jordan is. She’s hiding a world of hurt behind humorous sarcasm. She’s not mean-spirited but she is quite snarky and unless you look further you might mistake it for just being awful. She’s also a little socially awkward which makes it even worse :) Will is one of those people who has a huge heart. He’s patient and understanding, which Jordan needs in spades, and he’s the only real support she has in town. They are so fun together … once they stop letting their pride get in the way.

My only complaint with the story is how Jordan handles the end. She’d done so much growing through the book that I would have thought she would have done so much better. I mean I understand that she might have fallen into old habits but she let it go too long, I think. And when she comes back she doesn’t do much better, but Will is such an amazing and understanding guy that together they figure it out.

As with Picture This, it is the characters that make this such a hit. While we do get a good cast of supporting characters (and I’m SUPER interested in what Denker has in store for Will’s brothers), it is Jordan and Will that drive this story. The growth and development is so satisfying (with a few hiccups) and I was so excited when they finally got their happy ending.

I’ve loved both of the Marsden books that I’ve read so far and I’m definitely looking forward to see what comes next.

I thought this was a great read! Love the little town of Marsden with all it's quirky characters and Jordan Leigh's return just notched up the quirkiness. Will Nash is content being the follow the rules Nash brother. His life, however, is about to get a whole lot more interesting when he's put in charge of keeping an eye on Jordan while she's in Marsden serving out her house arrest. These two worked great together and made this a fun read no one should miss. I highly recommend it.
