Fractured Lies (MAC Security Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 193 ratings

LIE—NOUN
An intentionally false statement.

Some days I didn't know where the lies finished and the truth began.

It happened with one innocent lie, and before I knew it I'd weaved a whole web.

Nobody likes a liar.
But what if you didn’t have a choice?
What if you had to lie to protect yourself and your child?

If the lies were revealed, I’d be a shell of my former self, fractured into a thousand tiny pieces.
I just hoped they could be put back together.

Great debut: Kay and Ty are characters that will stick with you!

Great debut: Kay and Ty are characters that will stick with you!
*ARC provided in exchange for an honest review* Kay and Ty are characters that will stick with you! "This was my life and I had to deal with what had been handed to me, my way", Kay. *Warnings: •This book contains situations of gender and domestic violence that could trigger emotions. •It does end on a cliffhanger (though I think it's a good one). The story is told from the perspective of Kay, a young woman, mother of a little boy, who is married to a very very violent man. It's the story of their abusive relationship in a side and how she slowly realizes what's happening to her and tries to scape. In another side we have a team which is compounded by Kay's coworkers, lead by Ty, and they are private security members who are fighting to catch the responsible for young ladies' disappearance. Kay has been on her own for too long. No family to go to more than her brother, who is Ty's friend, and still a member of the secret forces with, of course, secret and dangerous missions. She hasn't seen him in years and her only company besides her child is her old neighbour, who also happens to get on well with the little kid. So, when Kay meets Ty she is overwhelming by the fact that he gains her trust and makes her feel safe. But Kay's infernal life remains a secret and Ty is still a friend of his brother. It is definitely not a good match, yet they can't deny the bond growing between them. Will be Ty brave enough to realize what's going on and will she be able to open herself to him? Will they catch the bad guys? This is a great debut novel from Abigail Davies and I'm certainly looking forward for the continuation. I stayed up all night finishing this book because I just couldn't put it down! It's an emotional rollercoaster and, though it is tough to read given the subjects that are developed, it is also a very addictive reading. I totally recommend it!

I really contemplated giving this book 3 stars, because the grammatical errors were astounding. I honestly could not wrap my head around the fact that the book was published with so many blatant errors.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story. The cliffhanger—I definitely did not see that coming. I knew there was going to be a cliffhanger, I assumed it was going to do with Max or the case—boy, was I wrong! Yikes!!! I am bracing myself for Kay’s reaction.

I really hope Luke gets a story.

Evidently I missed description of story stopping in the middle of what I thought was part of story and not end. Loved the characters and how they worked together but prefer knowing up front that it's not a stand alone story.Great insight of abuse also.

Kaylee and her son Eli are in tough situation. They are living with an abusive guy named Max. I had a hard time connecting to her character at first. She seemed weak and just dealing with her situation. Once she took control and tried to find a different path is where the story turned for me. I enjoyed her new work family especially Ty and Evan. The ending left you wanting to find out how the story plays out.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent storyline supported by an incredible cast of characters

I would have read this book in one sitting if real life had allowed. This may be my first time reading a full-length novel by Abigail Davies but it certainly won’t be the last. I was almost instantly hooked and then I didn’t want to put my Kindle down. In fact, after that ending, there is no way I can stop after this first book in the series. That unexpected cliffhanger of an ending had me downloading the next book before I started writing this review.

When I first looked to read this author’s work, I was going to start with one of her mafia reads. However, I have a ‘thing’ for a good military/security story and Fractured Lies definitely ticked all my boxes. There are some scenes within this story that readers with triggers need to be aware of. Learning what our heroine Kaylee goes through broke my heart. There may have been some upsetting moments yet I do feel that the author has penned Kay’s story with consideration and care. I believe we are witnessing only the start of her journey and I’d be very surprised if it doesn’t continue in the next book.

I’ve already mentioned boxes being ticked well that’s mainly thanks to Ty. You’ll understand what I mean when you meet him!

An excellent storyline supported by an incredible cast of characters. I highly recommend Fractured Lies to you to read.

You have to be joking me. I waited until 97% of the book to get to the juicy stuff I was waiting to sink my teeth into and then BAM. DONE. That’s right. D. O. N.E. Freaking cliffhangers do my head in.

    Ok rant done.

Was a good book. Some parts moved a little to slow for me. But all in all was a book I didn’t like to have to put down and I will be reading the next one.

WHAT!! Seriously this book has left me with a book hangover,i devoured this in one go as this story was captivating and held me spell bound with how this was all unfolding.

This story was heartbreaking but also uplifting in how Kaylee went out to get herself a job and met four people that was going to be more than just work colleagues. This was a harrowing story of domestic abuse that will have you routing for Kaylee through out this story. This was well written and the author deal very well with these tough issues,it was a gripping story.

I love all the guys at the security firm that Kaylee works for plus Kitty who is the only girl, the banter between these had me laughing in places,as you need this after reading about all the abuse.
I was totally unprepared for the ending even though i knew there was going to be a cliffhanger, but DAMN that last line had me shouting at my kindle. What a fantastic book this was i now need to download the next book.Five Huge Stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST BOOK OF 2016!!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 20, 2016
Fractured Lies is one of the best books I have read all year. Considering Fractured Lies is Abigail Davies's debut novel I wish I could give this book 6 stars. She knocked it out of the park with this book.
This story followed Kay and her little boy Eli. She's in a volatile relationship with her boyfriend, Eli's father Max. Then enters Ty who makes it his mission to bring Kay out of her shell. Which he does. Perfectly. Lots of passion in this book but what makes this book superb is the ongoing plot and the secondary characters. Evan, Luke & Kitty made the story better and I cannot wait for book 2.
    I highly recommend this book!

What an addictive read and a great big cliff-hanger in the last line. I think it's given me a book hangover. This is my first read from this author, but I really suspect it won't be my last. It is an intense read of domestic violence and you feel devastated and so much sympathy for Kay and I surprised myself how angry i feel towards her aggressor. However, you are willing her with every part of your being to get away, and she does. She finds her safe place with the Mac Security team but you know that life always throws a curve ball, and this one comes with an absolute clunker in the last line. Book 2 coming to me asap .
