My Boss, the Billionaire (The Billionaire Kings Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 2,069 ratings

Never fall in love with your boss…

I’ve worked for Leon for two years now.
Which means I’ve been in love with Leon for about, oh, 730 days, give or take.
He’s tall, gorgeous, hardworking, and strict. Most of the staff at Noah’s Ark are scared of him. But I can handle the Lion King, as I like to call him.
I’m his PA. I book his dental appointments, pick up his dry cleaning, keep his diary, walk his dogs, and organize his accounts.
I know him as well as a wife would, although unfortunately without the added benefits that role would bring.
I’d tell him how I feel, but he’s made it quite clear he’s against relationships at work, so I know it’s never going to happen unless I leave the Ark, and I love my job.
Then, on the day the Prime Minister’s supposed to arrive at the Ark, his crazy dog knocks me over and gives me a concussion.
And, as if I’m Snow White needing to be awoken from her slumber, Leon kisses me.
Crap. Now we’re in trouble.
How on earth do you un-forget being kissed by your handsome prince?

MY BOSS, THE BILLIONAIRE is part of a series but a standalone read with a HEA. Book 1 is a great place to start this series but you won't feel out of touch or lost if you haven't read it yet. The story is set on the North Island, New Zealand. I love traveling in New Zealand. I have learned so much about another way of living by reading the New Zealand authors. Noah's Ark was founded by Noah thus the name. The main characters are the siblings of Three Wise Men series. All are adults, finished uni and work at the animal sanctuary. Most of the animals are rescues. No animal is turned down for care. They have vets on call with the animal hospital. For the animals recovering from surgery or injuries they have a full-blown hotel. They have a snack at night and are tucked into their own beds. There is a petting zoo as well as a grooming salon. Anything an animal could possibly want, they get. It is paradise and most will find their forever home.

This story is about Leon. He studied finance at uni and he handles all the finances. He spends a lot of time seeking donations. All the characters are billionaires, thanks to their very successful parents. Very down to earth these guys do not flaunt their wealth. They could pretty much finance the establishment but Leon wants it to be self sufficient. They have 50 employees he keeps tabs on. He heads HR as well. Leon is a by the book kind of guy, there is nothing casual about him. He drives a jag and wears a $30,000 watch. That is about as much as he goes over the top. He is a great guy but bad behavior when he was 20 pretty much controls his life. It is not a positive thing.

His professional assistant is Nix. She is his female equivalent . She wears a suit and heels to work every day regardless. She know what he needs and is thinking before he does. She is perfect for him in every way. There is a big problem. By the book he frowns on dating co-workers. It just will not be tolerated and as one of the owners of the company he cannot in any way date Nix. She wishes it were otherwise.

Through a chain of events they wind up at a resort over the week-end, just the two of them. Lying in bed, looking through the skylight at midnight and things get a little out of the book!!! It is a wild week-end. If you find sex and colorful language this may not be the book for you. Personally I loved it. Leon is not such a stuffed shirt between the sheets!! They have some issues to work through. Both have a past they are ashamed of and need to get beyond. The whole family is rooting for them. It is a very good story and I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend it. Lots of fun as well as a little drama. But things start to look up when Nix gets Leon out of that expensive suit. I'm anxious to see Noah get his HEA.

I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 3/9/19

Part romance, part New Zealand tourism ad. Part romantic, part erotic. Characters from the first book in the series make this a familiar world, easy to fall into.

I didn't like this one as much as the first in the series - too much background dramatic angst, and much of it was foreshadowed enough to be easily predictable.

Overall still soundly written. An example:

"He tastes of whisky, and he smells of his lovely, fresh aftershave. After so long admiring him from a distance, I relish being able to touch him and kiss him. I fan my hand over his chest, feeling the curling brown hairs and the defined muscles there. How long have I admired him in his white shirts and smart suits, and thought about undoing a button and slipping a hand onto his warm skin? How many nights have I daydreamed about this, lying in bed with him, his lips on mine, making love? It’s a dream come true, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world."

My Boss, the Billionaire is the second book in The Billionaire Kings by Serenity Woods. Just like the first book in the series, it is a heartfelt, sweet and steamy romance. The next generation of Kings have all grown-up and deserved their HEAs too. The is Matt’s son Leon’s story. At first glance, it seems to be an office romance, but it is more than that. For Leon anyway, it is a forbidden love romance. Only of course, the forbidden is in his mind not for the rest of the Noah’s Ark crew.
While this should have been a simple romance, it becomes a complicated as Leon’s and Nix’s past haunt them, then becomes dangerous. Before that happens the hazards of normal life takes it toil on the business relationship of Leon and Nix. No longer can Leon ignore the strong feelings that he has for his irreplaceable PA. The characters are fully developed so that you understand why they act as they do, the plot smooth and always moving along while Ms. Woods does an incredible job of shining a spotlight on social issues without sacrificing the story line. It is all woven beautifully together.
It is not necessary to have read the first book in the series to fully enjoy My Boss, the Billionaire. However like me I bet the Kings will becomes some of your favorite characters ever, so you will want to read them all.

Serenity Woods has put her own spin on the awesome trope combo of an office romance with a billionaire as the hero. Fans of “Brooklynaire” by Sarina Bowen will rejoice at having another great romance to read! I sure did. I adore the New Zealand setting. Plus, the characters go to a fantastic wintry escape destination that now is on my list of dream vacations. The tone is playful, sometimes serious, and sexy. The perspective is alternating first person. The loves scenes are wonderfully steamy and intimate, with just the right frequency of scenes. I highly recommend this one to all fans of contemporary romance.

Nicola (aka, Nix) is a truly likable, smart, independent woman. She also has a secret past. Anyway, for the last two years, she has worked as the PA for Leon, an altruistic billionaire who works at and co-owns a nonprofit animal rescue and veterinary hospital. He is rather grumpy and OCD, but he is a nice guy with morals. Leon wears fine clothes, drives an expensive car, and owns a helicopter, but, thankfully, he is not full of himself. Since Leon distinctly disapproves of office relationships, he and Nicola have tried to repress their strong attraction to each other. However, the attraction gets out in the open after Nicola's head injury. Now, what will they do about it?

There were moments that just did not make sense.

For example: how does Leon carry around literally a box full of condoms in his wallet? The he was written he clearly wasn't planning on having sex. I can
understand one or two but the amount he had ready in his wallet was too unrealistic to me.

I was excited to read it but walked away somewhat disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars great story

This is the second book in the Billionaire Kings series, continuing the story of Leon and Nix, who we met in the previous installment. Leon, Hal's cousin from book one, serves as the head of HR at the Vet Sanctuary, while Nix, also known as Nicola, is his PA. For two years, they have secretly harbored feelings for each other, but Leon is firmly against workplace relationships at the Ark.

Both characters are well-developed and have intriguing, secretive pasts. Their chemistry is palpable, and I found them to be a fantastic pairing. The sex scenes are incredibly steamy.

I loved the secrets in this book, and when they came to light, it became obvious why both characters had personality flaws. When it came to Nicola, I felt a warmth to her that I rarely feel for female leads.

But Leon, oh my word, by the end I had so many emotions running around my head for him. I experienced a complete rollercoaster of emotions because in a short period of time Leon had to re-evaluate his life and decide what means more to him; his past, his pride or his woman. Despite Leon’s playboy millionaire lifestyle, which I thought I would hate, I didn’t. Leon is so kind and caring.

This book featured all of the secondary characters who we were introduced to in the first book, and we got a catch-up with Hal and Izzy.

Just like every other book I've read from Serenity Woods, this one is filled with love, romance and really good sex.
Every girl can only dream about finding a guy like one of the Kings.
Can't wait to go on to read book 3 in this series.

This is book two in the Billionaire Kings series and is Nicola and Leon’s story. The two of them have some series chemistry and definitely have the hots for each other but Leon has a no fraternising with colleagues policy and as Nicola is his PA she is off limits. A series of events occur and they find themselves unable to keep their hands off each other. There is lots of steamy scenes and drama in this book and I really enjoyed it. I love the gorgeous backdrop of New Zealand and I cant wait for the next one in the series!

I loved the way the story developed and we got to know more about Leon and Nix/ Nicola, while also getting to know more about other characters in the Ark family. Leon's dogs added to the story and made me smile.

I liked the grappling with their feelings and the support they had from the Ark family.
I immediately started the next book because I'm invested in the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful story

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, about Nix (Nicola) Dixon and Leon King. Nix has been PA to Leon for two years, and for that whole time they have been attracted to each other. But their attraction is the elephant in the room, Leon is Finance Director and HR Manager of Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary, which also has a veterinary centre, and a petting farm for children to learn about animals. It isa very successful business run by members of the new generation King family. Their parents stories were told in the Three Wise Men series. They were all doctors or involved in medicine, but the new generation have chosen veterinary medicine or associated skills. They are all extremely wealthy, but plough a lot of their money into making their business the success it is.

As HR Manager Leon does not approve of relationships in the workplace, and he is not prepared to break his own rule, so Nix has no real idea that he has feelings for her. Both of them have secrets that they need to share with each other before they can even think about romance. The story begins on a big day for the Ark, the New Zealand Prime Minister is coming to open the newly refurbished veterinary centre and brand new petting farm. Just before she gets there there is a mishap, one of Leon’s four dogs is charging across the grass, Nix stands in front of him so that he doesn’t crash into a bunch of excited young girls. The dog knocks her over and she hits her head against a brick wall, and is unconscious for about twenty minutes, and bleeding heavily. Leon is out of his mind with worry, and rushes her by helicopter to a private hospital to get the best possible treatment. This is the start of them acknowledging that they have feelings for each other.

The don’t open up to each other about past issues for a while, but there are little hints that Nix might be in some sort of danger. Their relationship develops quite fast, but it feels right, Serenity is very good at building up emotional tension. Leon takes Nix away for a couple of days to celebrate her birthday, and it is a really special time for them, and the most perfect gift for her. When they return however they have to reach a solution to their issues about workplace attachments. That is resolved by high drama.

    A delightful story, beautifully told!
